PSA Mods needed!
Hi everyone! I am nowhere near as active as I used to be on here. I still love cactus, and love the sub, but am in need of some extra hands to help keep this place cool!
If anyone has any interest, please DM me!

Watering day
Might be my last big soaking for (most of) these guys until spring, depending on the weather and how they feel about it. I need a better method though, this takes almost a whole day to do correctly, and now I'm just tired.

For a good home
Hello, my grandfather sadly passed away last week and now we need to re-home his collection. He has had this all my childhood and my mother’s so got to be around 50 years old.
He was based in Kilmarnock, Scotland and ideally Someone to take as much as they can. Saving several people visiting my gran.
If you know anyone who can help, please let me know. I have already contacted the British Cactus and Succulent Society, but no answer.
Apparently some very rare ones in this collection.
Raised Cactus Garden
I built this outdoor cactus garden about 20 or 25 years ago. I built it out of landscaping timbers and after 12-15 years the timbers rotted out. My son built a stone retaining walls just outside the old walls then removed the wood and we filled in with more sand. At the bottom of the cactus bed I have 4-6" of 2" rock, then I have the remainder of the bed filled with coarse sand. The idea was that the 4 inches of large rock would keep the moles out. That worked for about 10 years. Most of the plants I have in this garden are Echinocereus. That is my favorite cactus for outdoor use. I only have a few species that are hardy for me. I also have several selections of dwarf Opuntia fagilis.

Questions from a beginner
Hello everyone. Hoping to get some opinions today on what the best cactus would be for a beginner out of a few i saw at a nursery. My next question would is would these barria lights be strong enough for indoor growing during the cold months. Finally, if i were to repot, what is the best time of the year to do so and would bonsai Jack's succulent mix be appropriate to use for any of these. I like the looks of it but do not want to risk the health of the plant for looks. I am in zone 6B.
Thanks!

Help with ID please
Hello, I talked to the owner of the store these are outside of and they said I am welcome to take a cutting if I want. I would like to ID them if possible as I am new to cacti and gardening and want to expand my collection. But I’d also like to know what they are and let the owner know as well :) I think I know some but would really appreciate a second opinion. Please and thank you :)

Cutting is moldy
I am rooting a San Pedro cutting for the first time. The cutting has been potted in a 50% perlite 50% miracle grow cactus soil mix. I let the cut sit for a month and a half and had coated the bottomof the cutting with cinnamon before i potted it. I watered lightly last week. Today I noticed a slight change in coloration in the cactus so I decided to check the callous which im glad i did. It was covered with a layer of black mold. There was some sort of yellow fungus aswell. I cleaned it off with rubbing alcohol and left it out to dry. I think the miracle grow mix had too high of peat moss content. Making up a new soil mixture ASAP.
Here is a picture of the callous after I cleaned it. Im going to let it sit for a couple days to see if the mold comes back. The callous is fairly firm but the areoles seem like they may have some very slight rot going on.
Should I just let it dry and repot it as is or recut it and try again? Probably not using cinnamon again if i recut it.
Can anyone help me ID this cacti
I have been convinced this is eastern prickly pear but got shut down in a native plant group. Any help in differentiating?

Help! My first Opuntia cactus got infected.
I went searching for a prickly pear cactus for months and then finally got one. She's been doing great and growing well. Then I didn't tend to it in a few weeks, went to check in on her, and saw this!! A quick search said it's called scales? What do I do? How do I prevent this?

Getting ready to put in ground
Any advice or tips on best layout in the dirt area in front of the fence? These are the ones I’m thinking of putting down but obviously I can only fit so many
