Papaver/Poppy Planters/Buckets vs Fabric Pots and why I don't use fabric

Post image

I know fabric planters are great for drainage and better air flow however there's 2 main issues ive always ran into with fabric and why I do not use it anymore.

  1. Moving fabric pots easily disturbs the roots and when you need to water and care for your plant even subtle movements can cause issues. Using a well draining soil which is what I personally prefer is very loose and can crumble easily in your hands. So in a fabric pot it can do all sorts of unnecessary moving and shifting very easily.

  2. Fabric has always been a favorite nesting and hiding place for in my opinion the two worst insects indoors, Aphids and Fungus Gnats. Not only when you are in the middle of growing but also when you reuse your fabric pots. You have to clean them extremely well and if not before you know it you'll have an uncontrollable insect infestation on your hands.

So from experience my favorite planter would be a minimum of a 5 gallon bucket with holes no bigger than 1/2" drilled out on the bottom and lower 1/3 of the planter. It gives the plant a rigid space to grow and will even let the roots grab onto the inner walls of the bucket without disturbing them during normal care. I hope this helps anyone who is curious

Aw nah man. I do remember throwing Dolomites in the soil a recently and thought this might be that but… I think it’s mold. Is this grow trash? Any way to fix? Maybe it’s not mold?

Rare and Unusual Acacia acuminata yellowing tips

This is the narrow phyllode variety if that matters, I can’t remember exactly what soil it’s in this is a year old plant but I will probably end up taking the soil out and replacing it with some better soil, though I’m not sure if the plant can handle much stress right now. I had two others in the same pot that both ended up dying. Does anyone have any tips as to why the tips might be yellowing? I have it at 40% humidity 72° it is in quite the deep pot about 9” deep so I don’t think it’s a tap root issue but any advice is much appreciated also ignore the dirty grow tent lol

Use/Storage/Processing Klip dagga growers, do you use the leaves as well?

I’ve got 3 Klip dagga plants starting to bloom atm. I see some herbal vendors sell both flower and leaf, but mixed reports on whether they have any effect

Cannabis Don’t sleep on herb vaping your fan leaves

During a dry spell where I had plenty of plants in veg, I got desperate enough to try dehydrate and vape some fan leaves. While nothing to write home about, I got a noticeable buzz after a couple bowls of my S&B mighty. Nothing compared to the flavour and effect of flower, but the mix of cannabinoids gives a nice relaxed dreamy feel that can satisfy the craving while waiting for harvest. Couldn’t find any clear data on the cannabinoids profile of fan leaves

Rare and Unusual Another great book find on Amazon for 10$

Written in 1855 I believe. Or at least published then. Should be a wealth of knowledge. Lots of other copies available on there for cheap. Tons of good info in old pre 1901 books on intoxicants made from plants. Used to be published knowledge till some crooks took over the world. Again.

This was a mix of Turkish Red, Hens'n'Chicks, Tassies, Galania Afghan, Persian Whites, Gigs, Izmir Bush, Lauren's Bush hybrid & Danish Flag. These matured & bloomed very early, & grrw quite thin & lanky with small pods despite being thinned out agressively (I aim for 15-20 cm between each plant which isn't very realistic growing from seeds on wide beds, but I usually suceed in achieving proper distancing & no stressed crammed growspots).

They've actually self-sowed on the smaller flowerbeds 'neath my windows (these beds are part of the building & was used for thorned rosebushes when the house was built, so an added bonus for me). These beds I've used to grow some big & beautiful passionflowers after the poppy harvest (I usually let the pods go cracker dry because they've spread & are now a part of the local plant life after years & years of me cultivating) , & amongst the passiflora's are now big cabbage-stage poppies. Never had this happen before-I live in Scandinavia so we usually start growing early March-I know people in places like Florida or whereever can sow in late autumn also, but our winters won't permit this ungortunately.

I've also had good succes with my guerrilla growing, & after years of doing this in my green & leafy suburb, said plants have obviously self sown so they're pretty much growing everywhere around here by themselves, whether it be between the concrete tiles of a street or in the lush greenery of the local golf park.

Kratom/Mitragyna Species Keeping water in clone machine below 70°

Post image

The pumps in these darn machines generate tons of heat. The both cloners sit in a tub of water with freezer packs and I'm putting frozen water bottles in the machine itself whatever possible.

Mitragyna speciosa develops root rot rather quickly in these machines if the water gets above 70°
