Hey CachyOS Community,
We have more great news to share. Framework is increasing its support for CachyOS. The donation goes from $250 per month to $10,200 per year ($850 per month), more then three times the original amount.
When Framework first started sponsoring us, they sent us a Framework Laptop 16 for optimizing our kernel and packages, and committed to a monthly donation. You can read the original announcement here:
https://discuss.cachyos.org/t/framework-sponsorship-for-cachyos/19376
Having Framework triple its support says a lot about how much they care about Linux on their hardware and about the open-source projects their users rely on. For a community-driven project like ours, this kind of steady funding makes a real difference. It helps us:
A big thank you to Framework for believing in CachyOS, and to every one of you who uses, tests, reports bugs, and donates. You keep this project going.
If you’d like to support CachyOS too, take a look at our donation page: https://wiki.cachyos.org/support/donation/
Thanks to Framework, and thanks to all of you for using CachyOS!
— The CachyOS Team

I have been using CachyOS for 70 days now, and I am really impressed.
I use WhatsApp a lot, but have hated using the web client because a separate window is so much easier to monitor. I have used the dedicated client Whatsie and it has been great, but it really eats through RAM. I had a Whatsie session running at 4GB of RAM, when my Firefox session with 8 tabs only needed 3.5GB. I decided to try something else...
Zapfast does mostly the same as Whatsie but is only using 200mb of RAM. I had to compile it for CachyOS, but the time spent was well worth it. Would recommend.

Just got the Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT Nitro, that was the last big piece to this build, now just waiting for the PSU cables to arrive tomorrow. I’ve been dreaming of using CachyOS for months now. The time is tomorrow and I’ll be one of YOU!
ROG Strix x870E-E R2/USBC
Ryzen 9 9950X3D2
Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT Nitro
Samsung 9100 PRO 4TB (boot drive)
The excitement is overwhelming. Saying goodbye to Windows and jumping head first into Linux.

(please note that it may take a while until I can change this flair to SOLVED, assuming that the solution is actually found soon, as it will take quite a while for us to actually be able to test out any of the solutions)
My friend has two monitors. The one he is experiencing issues with is an "LG ULTRAGEAR+ OLED UW 3440 x 1440". I found this post which seems to talk about the same (or at least a similar) issue, however it didn't help. He does use a display port which the post said was best, however the "Adaptive sync" option wasn't something we were able to find in the settings.
If it is of any relevance, he has a AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU, and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. If any more information is required then please tell me and I'll make sure that it's provided as soon as possible. Note though that it unfortunately might take a while until I'm able to actually come back with the details.
Thanks in advance!

My system has started to lock me out suddenly with screen going black multiple times and sometimes "crashes" and only shows black screen with blinking cursor. Kernel is 7.2.6-1-cachyos. I have no idea how to solve this.
Last time this happened was when I closed KDE screenshot application.

I'm a VFX Artist and I've been trying to ditch Windows for a long while but always ended up going back to it, either by incompetence or just trying to configure things (like NV drivers) such a pain in the ass. years later now I finally switched thanks to a guy named ronin on youtube (Owen Jenkins) who made a guide for 3D Artists and he also used CachyOS (fortunately, because I heard this linux distro is great at gaming).
Ronin's guide : (https://ronin-on-linux.github.io/3d-artists-guide-to-linux/)
it's been absolutely silk smooth, I'm using Cinnamon desktop for X11 because some softwares are buggy in Wayland (like Houdini). everything is launching way too quick now and the viewport of every software is really fast (unlike Windows).
I'm using Nvidia so I'm thankful for the cashy team for making things like that super easy.
I've been also playing my favorite game (Hunt Showdown) with 0 issues, dare I say it runs faster now, but not at all the games. Arc raiders and some others runs a bit worse but it's still pretty good.
I kept Win10 on a separate drive but I haven't touch it yet since I install linux and I'll probably only will when I want some editing in Davinci.
Have a nice rest of the day all and happy hunting.

My Cachy-update has not been working recently, and similarly my arch updating has been slow recently and has had updates fail.
I keep getting this message when I try to use Cachy-Update it gives me this error message.
Upgrading packages via CachyOS Hello works though.
Help would be appreciated.

Epic Games is working to enhance Easy Anti Cheat on Linux with "EAC Linux v2" as an overhaul to their handling of this game anti-cheat tech. EAC Linux v2 isn't relying on a Linux kernel module but they will be making use of an anti-cheat systemd service and eBPF kernel programs for security features. The systemd service will need to launch when running a protected game and can be unloaded after running protected games. EAC Linux v2 will rely on UEFI Secure Boot as well with keys signed by the likes of Canonical, Fedora, Universal Blue, Debian, SUSE, Rocky Linux, or the Microsoft UEFI CA.

Hello, I recently haggled down a nice ThinkPad for my office use and at first installed CachyOS with XFCE on it but decided to switch to KDE. I'm noticing a lot of RAM usage on my 4GB RAM despite only having a single browser tab with my online class - btop results in second image
Any way to improve or fix? Any help is appreciated

Ive been trying to start fresh again with using Linux, so I decided to utilize my laptop for the deed.
It can very much handle the base CachyOS Hyprland with noctalia, but after one day of use I decided I sort of hate Noctalia and how it "feels" in lack of better word, so I decided to obtain Caelestia after randomly coming across a video of it.
After too much trouble (my ass is basically below computer noob status) trying to get the damn thing installer, I finally seemed to get it, but I've been taken to a grey screen with not every key bond working. From all the video of a "fresh caelestia install" this is not what shows up at first. Did I do something wrong?
It might be better if I just deal with using base CachyOS Noctalia I feel.

How do you think this open source upstream project will go in general (namely, how long until it will start being used by us, end-users), and in terms of CachyOS (will we be early adopters, for example)
I've noticed (I think) that the already in-kernel Nova code isn't in the CachyOS customized kernels (7.2, 7.2 BORE and 7.3rc6), which makes sense, as it is not yet useful for gamers and/or professionals that need the CachyOS performance.
Anyway, I was just curious about your thoughts

Specs:
CPU: Amd Ryzen 7800x3d
GPU: RTX 4080 super
Mobo: Tuf Gaming B650-Plus
First I used Rufus to put the ISO on a usb. I managed to install it on my laptop so I know the USB and ISO work.
Then I had trouble on my main PC so I used Google AI. I have secure boot off, UFEI variable protection off, CSM on or off I tried both, and fast boot disabled.
I eventually tried using Ventoy which let me get further than before.
I’ve had AI tell me the USB is losing power for a second when booting because of MOBO settings or something and I ran into other errors. I used the suggestions from AI to make some changes to my Bios and it let me get further along the install process.
Now I can get into my BIOS, boot from the USB, select the Ventoy install in normal mode, and edit the params of the CachyOS install to use:
modprobe.blacklist=amdgpu nomodeset
amdgpu.modeset=0
I had to use this otherwise it would try to use my integrated graphics and I wouldn’t even reach the option to select install cachyos, it would just black screen.
Also tried with copytoram=auto removed, and acpi=off included. In many combinations of including these args or not.
I have always used USB ports directly on the Mobo, both USB 2 and 3 slots.
From this point look at the image I included. It reaches this point and then never progresses.
I am at my wits end. I would like to begin my move away from Windows but this is making it extremely hard.
I am a CS grad and software developer. I have some idea of what I’m doing but I’ve never learned anything about BIOS settings or how that relates to reading drives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have both CachyOS and Windows on your PC and you have set up secure boot for CachyOS following the wiki, and you go back to windows and play a game that has secure boot requirements such as Call of Duty, Battlefield 6 or whatever, is there any risk of getting banned due to the custom setup of secure boot for CachyOS?

After updating to Plasma 6.8.0 I noticed that when HDR is enabled the screen flickers between cool and warm tones when switching from desktop to applications. The only fix for now is to disable HDR, however it also seems leaving the dock to always show keeps it consistent too, full screening any media will go back to the flicker though. This was also the case when 6.7.0 came out too. I'm sure 6.8.1 will fix it.

Im building a new pc next month and I'm planning on leaving windows after being on it my whole life, I know linux is a lot of terminal but I was wondering how do you keep applications updated? do they auto update, is there a central place to update everything all at once, or do you have to manually update everything. Also I keep seeing a million different types of proton, what is the differences and if I go with one which isn't built into steam how do I keep it updated (this probably sounds so stupid but I have never used linux before).

Epic games is coming to Linux, along with fortnite.
However in the list of supported Distros Cachy was not there. I know they just made the announcement, just wanted some insights if the maintainers could care to comment.

Was hoping someone had an idea since if I can’t get my fans working I’ll have to switch back to windows. My CPU hits 101 playing light games. Running sensors in CLI doesn’t detect any fans, tried this old project called ExtremeCooling4Linux but I couldn’t get the program to launch. Tried installing LenovoLegionLinux-git and still couldn’t detect fans. Wasn’t able to get the fans detected in lact, corectrl, fancontrol, and coolercontrol. New to Linux and I’m at a loss on what else I can try here. If there’s some way to force the fans to always be running at high I’d take that lol.

Since a few days i am not able to update/download AUR packages through my terminal. I am not able to access the AUR-Website. It says "Secure connection failed".
I get this Error all the time in my terminal:
1 error occurred: request failed: Get "https://aur.archlinux.org/rpc?arg=EXAMPLE&by=name-desc&type=search&v=5": EOF
Is this known? Is there a possible fix? What causes this?
