Question Dual booting Windows and CachyOS on laptop?
Does anyone recommend against dual booting?
I use CachyOS on my desktop and I love it. Definitely the best distro I have used so far in my opinion. But my laptop is still running Windows 11.
I kept Windows on it for certain software I need to use for university that aren’t natively supported on Linux (autodesk apps for example). My laptop is mainly for uni work, so I can’t really get rid of Windows.
I am considering dual booting it with CachyOS so I can have the best of both worlds: an OS I enjoy using day to day and Windows as a backup for any software.
However I’ve read on pages like CachyOS wiki that, when dual booting, Windows updates can break the bootloader. Also my laptop only has a single 512GB SSD, so ideally not the amount of storage I would like.
Is it worth the hassle installing CachyOS or should I just leave my laptop as it is?
Thanks
