Building Gamign Rig for GF

Greetings folks,

my gf is rocking her old rig and her gtx1050ti.

But by 2026 its really stretching it thin with old hardware so we are looking to get her a new rig.

The Budget is up to 1800€.

The wonderful /buildmeapc community helped me out last year with my own rig

here: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildmeapc/comments/1nf8ufq/looking_to_build_a_gaming_pc

That worked perfectly and im still enjoying that build very much.

I would really appriciate any kind of help and have a great day =)

Sanity check before Buying

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I am currently planning my next PC. Up until now, I have always bought pre-builds and never dared to configure one myself, which is why I am struggling a bit. You can find my selected configuration in the attached table (total price about 2450 €).

My requirements profile:

Work / Multitasking: Fast performance for intensive office applications with many programs running simultaneously, plus basic CAD, CAM, and 3D print slicing.

Gaming: All modern games (from mid-range to high-end) at high to maximum settings with stable 60 FPS in 1440p.

Case: The more expensive Fractal Design North was deliberately chosen for purely aesthetic reasons.

Regarding this, I have three questions:

  1. Does this build make sense for my requirements, or can I save money sensibly in certain areas (such as CPU cooler, power supply, or motherboard) without performance dropping?
  2. Do I get better components for the same price range (approx. 2,500 €) if I directly buy a pre-built PC?
  3. Do I get the same performance as in my list for less money as a pre-built PC, or am I better off with building it myself?

Thanks!

Component Part Price [€]
Case Fractal Design North ATX Mid-Tower (includes 2 front intake fans) 127,46
RAM Viper Venom DDR5 32GB (2x16) 6000MHz CL30  509,99
SSD Kioxia Exceria Basic 2 TB BULK, SSD 234,90
CPU AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8 x 4.2GHz Octa Core Prozessor 281,89
GPU ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Edition 16GB GDDR6 875,29
Mainboard MSI MAG B850 GAMING PLUS MAX WIFI, Mainboard 181,90
Power Supply be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 850W, PSU 119,90
CPU-Cooler be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6, CPU-Kühler 89,90
Exhaust Fan (top) Fractal Design Aspect 14 PWM Black 140 mm 17,11
Exhaust Fan (rear) Fractal Design Aspect 12 PWM Black 120 mm 12,99

Total Price 2,451.33 €

Looking for a Mini-ITX PC

Basically the title.

I already have built custom PC's of my own before, rocking since a couple of years a RTX 4080 and an Intel I9-13900k with water cooling. Thing is I rock a glass case and its big and unwieldy, which makes it a nightmare if I want to join my friends for our lan-parties we regularly do with the whole setup of PC, Monitor and so on. Makes it also impossible for my new job I started where I gotta travel a lot.

So I've been looking in Laptops/Mini-ITX and so on, be it prebuild or self assembly. Thing is between all the different creators, sites and so on I am a bit lost what really is 'worth' to go for in a Mini build.

So I came here to ask all of you to maybe give me some pointers.

I got somewhat of a medicore Budget (for today's standards) I just want a PC that can handle all types of games (within reason for a mini-itx I suppose) Can be upwards of 5000€.

First Pc Build for 1080p Gaming/Editing

I'm thinking of building a pc, mostly for gaming and editing and I'm someone who has never experienced even proper 720p pc gaming. So I think a 1080p build will me more than enough for me.

For processor, I'm thinking of Ryzen 5 5600X, for Gpu maybe 3050 8 GB, as nvidia has slight upper hand in editing ( correct me if I'm wrong ) 2 Ddr4 ram sticks 16GB each ( 3200MHz ) 1Tb Ssd and I'm not sure about mother board or power supply.

Please help me out guys, Thanks.

Looking to upgrade my nine year old PC.

I've been debating this for a while but I think I need to do this before prices get even worse. My current PC basically can't play any high-end game released in the last seven years. So there are lots of AAA games I want to play (Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel Rivals, etc.), but that would set my PC on fire. I am based in the UK and my budget is around £2500, £3000 at the most.

My peripherals all work fine, so I can keep those. Are there any other parts I can keep, or should I just overhaul the entire thing?

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor

Cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock Slim 35.14 CFM CPU Cooler

Motherboard: Asus STRIX Z270F ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

RAM: G.Skill NT 8 GB DDR4-2133 CL15 Memory

GPU: EVGA GAMING GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB Video Card

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 270R ATX Mid Tower Case

Thank you for your help.

Other / >$1400 Is this build realistic in Luxembourg for €2,200 max?

Hi, I'm planning a gaming and game development PC with a €2,200 budget including a 24.5" 240Hz monitor. I live in Luxembourg and would prefer shops that ship here.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X

GPU: XFX Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB

Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi

RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000

SSD: Crucial P310 2TB NVMe

Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE

PSU: Corsair RM750e (2025) 750W

Case: Fractal Design Pop 2 Air Black Solid

Are these parts compatible and is this a coherent build for gaming, Unity and Unreal Engine? Any recommendations for cheaper EU stores that ship to Luxembourg?

PC ADVICE pls [discussion]

I’ve been wanting a pc for years now but I don’t really know what to get, prebuilt or spend hours learning how to build. I also want to know what kind of pc to get in terms of graphics and all that jazz. I mainly want to use a pc for story games that require pretty good graphics like tlou and rdr2. Any advice would be amazing! I know literally nothing lol… (ps: my budget is probably 3000 max since I don’t want to be spending 5 bands on a pc and I live in Canada.) :)))

PC Build (US 2-4k)

I want to be able to run RL Craft while recording with high graphics and shaders and I want to be able to edit videos with reasonable high demand and possible have multiple monitors
And I want to be able to record videos at least 1080p and 60fps, I will also use a scarlet mic for the pc

I also want to be able to run Minecraft and games like it at high graphics and be able to edit videos. I want to be able to stream with it if possible and
My preferred range in 2-3k but I can go up to 4k for it max

For more background I make YouTube videos and I edit and mix songs so I want it to be able to do that. thank you
