AVOID POTENTIAL SCAMS

Please use caution when buying and selling and beware of scams, we do not take any responsibility and will not be able to help. * Please reply to sellers below even if taking the transaction offline, this verifies you are not banned and provides evidence of the transaction * It is strongly suggested to use PayPal Goods & Services as this comes with Buyer Protection at a small fee. DO NOT USE PAYPAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY * For tickets it is recommended to use legitimate ticket re-sell sites as these protect both the buyer and seller (Some listed below). * If buying directly do your own research, this guide is a good start. Is the users account established with legitimate recent and historic activity, is there a way to validate the tickets before purchasing and are the tickets allowed to be re-sold (transferable).

Re-sell sites: Twickets | Tixel | Stub Hub | See Tickets Fan To Fan

Why hide your face if you’re doing nothing wrong and aren’t embarrassed?

Surely you want your identity to be known because you’re out there ‘protecting the community’.

Edit: I found this video on another sub with no backstory unfortunately. Thought I’d share it with fellow Bristolians as I’d seen videos like this from other places but now it’s right on our door step

Where To? Making friends sober?

Hi, sorry for TA account, just want to remain absolutely anonymous on that. And sorry if post sounds a bit odd, English is not my first language.

As the title said- how do I meet new friends without alcohol involved? 😅 in my thirties, around half year ago I've finally admitted to myself that I've got a problem with drinking and cut it off from my life. But unfortunately most of my social interactions were with my pub friends since I was young, so now I'm a bit lost on how to meet people who also decided to be sober. I do not mind going to the pubs and drink non alcoholic drinks occasionally, just will be nice to join some activities/ groups where evenings are not ending up as me being only sober one in a group :)

I do enjoy board games, walks, bit of crafty things, and currently fighting with my insecurities to finally join some gym/swimming pool/yoga/anything involving physical activities. My biggest fear is that I'll show up somewhere just to find out that everyone who attends knows each other since pre school, all friendships are already established and playing Catan or going for half an hour walk is just an excuse to get wasted later on 🥲

So yeah, any help and direction highly appreciated, thank you for reading! :)

Where To? Pub wedding venues?

• Upvotes

Please can I have suggestions of nice pubs in bristol that have the capacity to hold 120 people for a wedding reception.

We really like Greenbank in Easton but they can only accommodate 100 people unfortunately.

We're not looking to have a sit down meal, just a good party in the evening, as we're hoping to have a more intimate wedding breakfast earlier in the day. If the venue can do buffet food, great, but if not we can organise this ourselves.

Thank you in advance 😊

Where To? Hotel Recommendations

Greetings! Me and my family are heading to Bristol later in the year and looking for peoples recommendations on hotel options. We are visiting family who live in Long Ashton but have no preference to stay on the doorstep, we’d rather something central and relatively good standard as we’re likely to spend 3 nights and a fair amount of time in the hotel itself due to having a small child who still naps.

Current shortlist is Marriott Royal, Leonardo or Holiday Inn… We like the look of the Marriott but is obviously the most expensive one of the 3!

Thanks for any advice.

Hey, my name’s Maria and I’m looking to start/ join a bristol based band! I sing and play the guitar, but I’d like to focus on singing, with the vibe being like whimsical, punky, pop rock. I’m 20, so would be good to have people around my age. Inspo is wisp, evanescence, pixies and paramore

Babble Saxophone teacher

Hey everyone

Can anyone recommend a sax teacher for in-person lessons (I am in BS2 but happy to cycle up to 30 mins-ish). I used to play to a good standard but that was 10+ years ago and haven't played since - not fussed about doing any more exams/qualifications, open to any genres, just want to pick it up again

Thank you!

Where To? What's Grosvenor casino like nowadays?

Hi guys,

As the title, I'm new to Bristol and I like to play blackjack. It seems very limited casino options in Bristol and the first search result is Grosvenor.

I'm wondering if there's enough tables for blackjack in there? How much minimum per hand? Any other casino recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Babble Any help finding this?

I've tried looking for it for months. They sold it at a shop near me for a little bit (more or less an off-brand B&M that sells stuff for cheap but doesn't keep the stock in) and there was this amazing soy sauce. I've looked in every Asian supermarket in town, asked the people working there, and looked online. Nothing. Unless I want to spent £30+ on a 4 pack when it was £1 a bottle before. Any help would be great

Where To? Gel Nail Salon in Bristol?

Hi! Nail girlie's I need help!

Had my nails done twice now (i was a manicure virgin) , and the artwork hasn't been what I've been hoping.

I see such beautiful, even, clean lines on everyone else, but when I go it's like they suddenly forget how to draw nice lines.

Now it is custom artwork but it's 1 circle with a dot in it, another circle with 2 lines, and another circle with 3 lines. Plus 2 Trapeziums (one outer edges longer, one opposite way).

First place I got it done was Acrylics but they peeled off. I booked at a different place that was recommended to me, that were GEL nails (and after like 6 weeks I actually love the gel, even if I wasn't happy with the artwork)

Now I did like the service at the second salon, simply because the girl actually clipped off my cuticles and sanded all the dry skin back from my finger edges (I pick my skin until I bleed if there's ANY cagginess but I am trying to get better...) and I have stupidly thin brittle bendy breakable nails that flex like rice paper.

I live in Kingswood, and would appreciate somewhere close by, however I dont mind travelling for it within Bristol if I get the result I actually want. Paying £85 for nails and artwork seems a little annoying when the quality of the work is something I could probably do at home.

I will post a picture of one nail (because my nails are unique and likely identifiable but oh well) and then put the reference pic up.

Can someone please tell me whether my expectations are too high? There's a million places in Bristol that seem to be able to do all these complicated flowers and lace lookalike and ombre and fine detail, but yet when it comes to mine it's like they used a tippex marker! And it's not like I'm asking for the Mona Lisa on my nails....

Babble Bristol Improv Theatre - Discovering Improv class started 7 Sept - please reach out to me!

Hi all, Will (he/him) here.

I was teaching the Level 1 Discovering Improv course on Monday nights, and last night was meant to be the final session.

The theatre's sudden closure meant that class didn't go ahead, and as a freelance instructor at the BIT I don't get contact details of my students (and fair enough, there are good reasons for that) so I'm not able to reach out to them directly.

I'm turning to Reddit to see if I can get them to reach out to me, because I want to offer the final week of Discovering Improv in some form, because it is a joyful course and this is a really sucky and disappointing end.

I've previously had success finding people through Reddit (such as finding Davids for Task Lord last year), and hoping the community will be able to reach my students and put them in touch with me.

Please DM via Reddit. I will ask some questions to confirm identities so we know who each other are! Right now I'm not looking to teach new people, just finish this particular course.

(But if you are also interested in future Improv teaching offers, I'm now much more open to work)

Thanks in advance,

Will

Edit: 1 student found, 8 to go!

Where To? Good church

What are peoples experiences with churches in Bristol, I currently go to E5 which is has really good truthful sermons but the vibe itself i dont think is for me, ive had a look at a few diffrent ones but again dont seem to gel with them.

Can anyone recommend me churches to try, I mainly want one that has good truthful sermons/good pastors, good/close and well connected community for support and fellowship and ive recently just had a son and would like to find my home church before committing to anyone as id like to be able to trust their sunday school.

Thank you in advance.

Where To? Anything I must do on my last day?

My mom and I have been in Bristol since last Tuesday, we spent the weekend in Cardiff and most of today in Bath. We’ve had some great meals here, loved the public transport (compared to the US), we did St Nicholas Market and we’re gonna hit M Shed and SS Great Britain tomorrow morning. What’s one or two more things we have to see before we go back to Seattle on Thursday morning? Thanks in advance!

Cheers drive 🚍 Virtual Rail train for Bristol?

The tech: https://youtu.be/nIw5a7WImzE?is=likuQq0Scz0nvuCO

I think an important part of what makes the Nottingham tram work is the guaranteed journey time despite the rush hour. Some roads where made one way to cars, or trams only; traffic lights favour the trams. I think you would need similar for this scheme, but it should need less digging up the road compared to rail

Where To? Queer scenes

Hi!

For context i’m a first year UOB student and i’m also gay - I live in a 95% straight accommodation and only have a few queer friends here, whereas at home, most of my friends are queer or at least very supportive allies.

I’m always happy to go and party at “straight” clubs but i obviously enjoy a gay club - of which i’ve tried OMG - not gay in the slightest🤣.

Are there any actual gay spaces where i can go that aren’t full of straight men who are there to find girls and get awkward when there are openly queer people within 10 feet of them.

Preferably an open club, not necessarily a sex positive club but that wouldn’t put me off even though i’m not necessarily into that haha.

Any recommendations for gay clubs that actually have queer people in them?

Thanks!!

Ark at ee One thing Bristol is lacking….

I’m currently on a bit of a road trip, stopped in Liverpool for a couple days and they’ve got a load of great Irish bars. Not tacky, corporate rubbish but authentic look and feel of a proper Irish boozer. Bristol needs this in my opinion. I know we’ve got Seamus o’ Donnell’s but that’s more of a gay/drag bar these days and way too small.
