Shit about parents, especially moms, fucks kids up. That Mars Needs Moms movie bombed hard and the marketing/research determined the biggest reason was kids didnt want to see it because the idea of their moms getting kidnapped was too sad and scary

I don't know, the Jimmy Neutron movie revolved around all parents being kidnapped and nearly sacrificed to a giant chicken god, and that's been named as the number 1 movie of all time on at least one list (yeah it's my list, so what ya wanna fight about it?)

It's gotta be a vibes thing. If the kids in the movie are distraught over the disappearance of mom, then kids in the audience will be, too. If the kids are partying because there's no rules, then the kids in the audience will be entertained.
