this part was so funny because at first i was like damn this has to be a puzzle and you need to play really carefully but you quickly realize that its a massive fucking brawl so you just start spamming some good old fireball in the enemy backline lol.

Don't know how I missed this, which is an absolutely gorgeous mod that seamlessly integrates the OG stone-green interface into the Enhanced Edition. Works all the way through SoD (and, let's face it, the Siege UI is kind of awful). Last post on page 3 has a link to a Weidu format updated for 2.7.3:

Hello,

I repeatedly have the problem of the game freezing and crashing to desktop in certain areas. All saves made in the area is compromised as well. Trying to load it also results in the same short freeze and crash to desktop without crash report.

The most recent area is the docks district in Athkatla. It was fine before but after siding with Bhodi the crashes begun. So maybe it has something to do with the mod Rouge Rebalancing but I have found no solution to the problem after extensive searches.

Some info: BG2 ee with the mods SCS, Ascension, Rouge Rebalancing, some cdtweakes, EEex, Bubbs spell menu and Buff Bot.

If anybody has a solution or knows what’s going on it would be much appreciated.

Since I buyed, so many years ago, Baldur's Gate 2 (5 CD-ROM if I remember correctly...), one thing has always bugged me: the erasure of the free roaming. In BG 1 you could just go anywhere in the map, finding totally unexpected quests or dreadful new ways to die. Just go to the corner of the map and... Discover where the road leads you!

But in BG 2 the areas where few and accessible only when some npc pointed you there. To me, just an absurd thing. Why can't I just roam free?? Why the huge Amn, so much feared in the Sword Coast had so few places to visit???

Sooo... Please please please. It exist some mod that add new maps and collect them like the first Baldur's Gate???

Anyone have any information on doing this?

Unreal Engine - Retro RPG Pre Rendered Graphics (NO AI!)

For a long time, I’ve been obsessed with capturing the exact feel of classic late-90s infinity engine RPGs like Baldur’s Gate II especially that timeless aesthetic of 3D characters traversing handcrafted, pre-rendered background art that Obsidian Entertainment managed to revive.

This look was achieved by baking complex lighting, shadows, and environment details into flat 2D image slates, using collision meshes and depth layers to handle character sorting. Recreating that hybrid pipeline inside Unreal Engine 5 while keeping it dynamic and modular has been a real technical puzzle for me but i made it work!

P.S. that wall and 2 props are there because ue5 bugs on calculating the from the depth pre rendered map there

I thought that the remove curse spell might work but it doesn't remove curses on items

After finishing quests from TotSC on Insane difficulty, my charname already has around 130,000 exp. IIRC, it's already more than the starting exp of SoA. How do you keep the game challenging but not annoying? Any advice please?

I've got the character Scripts of my NPCs set the "Advanced AI" (I think by default), but I NPCs don't really seem to do much. For instance, there was kobold next to my fighter trying to hit him but he didn't hit back! I had to manually get him to hit it.

How does this work?

I activated it for a run and then ran into Shank. Ended up having to kite him into two watchers, had them take off most of his health, then kited him back inside to get his experience.

I then proceeded down to the rats in Reevor's storehouse, which I was unable to kill without breaking both of my longswords.

I stopped there because if that's the way things are going to be I'm not sure if I'll actually enjoy the challenge of this difficulty or just hate every second of it.

I'd be curious to have thoughts from others who have tried this difficulty.

Title. I’m planning not doing my first playthrough, but can’t decide on a class. I always love playing as a paladin in games, but saw they don’t get spells till level 9. So I’m wondering which of these 2 would be best

In all of my years playing the game, this is the second time I've come across this ambush. Needless to say that me and my sister perished. Spoiler alert : they did not kick us in the head 'til we were dead.

Edit : I should have been more specific in my description; this is the second time I've been ambushed while travelling from the area with the rogue ogre, to the Friendly Arm Inn. To be honest though, I don't recall being ambushed by bandits often, even in other areas. How many times has this happened to everyone?

Once again im thinking about going through BG1-BG2 and Throne of Bhaal. I never had enough comitment to do it with one character (how much would that take - like 350hrs lol), but i wanna try again. Im sick and tired of playing a warrior, last time i tried elf warrior in BG1 but chickened out from dual classing to mage in BG2. This time i really want to play a character that is the most fun one in both games, i dont really care about being OP that much, i can handle both games at the highest difficulties just fine.
Any tips what would be the biggest fun ? I really like magic, especially in BG2, clerics can also be damn OP and i like their premise, but being a mage in BG1 is pretty damn hard for a couple of first levels, so i dont know if pure mage in any form is the way to go.

I am replaying the game and made a map for every area, Siege of Dragonspear included. It shows what is in each container, traps, locked and secret doors, merchants and the enemies with their gear and resistances.

Beyond the map:

- Items, spells and a bestiary with the weapon types that work best

- Characters, stores, journal quests and a searchable Quotes page

- Game Rules from the Candlekeep tutors

There's also a Companion App: an overlay or second-screen map that follows your party and shows the enemies around you live.

So best are I think Minsc and Jaehira. They kept their personality only they got upgraded. Jaehira was always catty and holier than thou (neutral alignment my ass) so they made her older and wiser in BG3, also fighting for a good cause and her alignment is I think good, having past regrets, and being more sarcastic than original.

Minsc was always a savage funny character trying to do good so they made him a naive but good natured idiot character trying to do good in BG3 and gave him more lines. He is not as obsessed with having a witch to protect which is imo a good thing. Though he was about that in BG1, in BG2 he was more a regular companion with funny moments.

Worst in my opinion is Sarevok. They really made his ass a subservient to Baal incestous minion. He wasn't like that even when he was a villain, he was trying to usurp not serve his fake idiot god father lol. And he can also get somewhat of a redemption in the BG Throne of Ball expansion.

So from a badass warrior villain with iron will to a henchman cultist that does incest.... hmmmm...

Viconia, eh,,, yeah she also. BG1 and 2 made it clear she only served Shar because she was cast away from her spider Goddess and Drow tribe, I think for being too good and moral for them lol. So from serving Shar out of necessity to becoming a Shar fanatic who is also a cultist. They made her and Sarevok be weird cultists.

Exactly what the title says. Consider the entire saga from BGEE -> SoD -> BG2EE -> ToB. What class Bhallspawn ‘feels’ the best in terms of rewards, fun, power-fantasy, how ‘canon’ it feels, etc? Whatever metrics are important to you other than simple mechanical power-gaming.

I’ve heard a lot of people say Fighter/Mage or a dual-classes version of that combo because it’s the only class a companion doesn’t fill in the base game. I personally like Sorcerer or Mage because it puts you in stark contrast to Sarevok’s brutish melee build, and likewise it gives you similarities to Irenicus that are interesting to roleplay around.

Thoughts?

If he only had bought a license from the cowled wizards. He had still half a spellbook left and could have easily wiped the lvl 7 party, instead of spending it all on the wizards. Prime example of saving on a minor expense which bites you later in your clean, elven arse.
