Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Is anyone aware of any events or get togethers in Vancouver?
I lost my baby boy Danny on August 6th this year.
From Baby Loss Awareness Weekโs site:
Baby Loss Awareness Week culminates with the global โWave of Lightโ on 15th October, which is alsoย a globallyย recognisedย event.
*ย *
Weย invite you to join other families across the world by lighting a candle at 7pm local time and leaving it burning for at least one hour to remember all babies that have died too soon.
If convenient, I hope you would consider lighting a candle at 7pm tonight for Danny and all the other babies that have been lost. Thank you.๐ฉต

Hey all! Iโm new to the hobby and Iโve been looking for people to play with.
Does anyone know where there are some groups or places that have drop in nights around the greater Vancouver area?
Alternatively if anyone wants to play shoot me a DM!

Hi all, It's been quite a year, I was laid off and have to move to a smaller space at the end of the month. Chronic disorganization has always been an issue for me and with everything piles up, I need help.
I'm looking for recommendations for organizer, professional or any sort of help. Ideally somebody who either is neurodivergent or knows how it's like to be one.
Has anyone had experience with Out Of Chaos? They seem nice but their price rates aren't public.
Thank you for reading, apologies for the TMI.

Whatโs one thing youโd change about Vancouverโs transit system?
One problem I keep running into is limited bus capacity downtown, especially on the 250. When itโs busy, I can wait around half an hour just to get on a bus, since the first few pass by full. To be fair, Vancouver has a lot going for it too. The Canada Line and the RapidBus routes are convenient and make getting around much easier. What would you change? Whether itโs routes, frequency, or something else entirely, Iโd love to hear your experiences.
New to Vancouver and looking to find more friends who like DJ events!!!! Anyone keen on going?

My sweet boy is going to get his hind leg amputated, his bone has not been healing the way the vet expected/hoped and this is the best option for him now as heโs been dealing with a limp since TPLO surgery in June.
I am feeling so much emotions about this and would like to know if any pet parents have dealt with this?
Hopefully there's some knowledgeable car people in here!
So, my partner's newish to us car has a case of disappearing coolant, and I'm personally at a loss for what's going on. I took it to a place that I have been to many times in the past and has been recommended on here before and I was very disappointed. I told them the whole story, asked them to check for leaks, and if they didn't find any, perform a flush and fill. Well he called me, said they took the whole cover off the undercarriage, couldn't find any leaks but coolant looks dirty so definitely needs a flush and also needs new belts and tensioner.
They assumed the empty reservoir was simply the result of an air pocket that had taken a while to burp out.
When we went to pick it up it was sitting outside in a huge puddle of green coolant and when we popped the good the little cover that you would use to access the radiator drain was missing. I showed it to him and he ran inside to get it and installed it for us. He said the coolant on the ground was because it was spilt during top up and he took it outside to rinse off. My alarm bells were kind of going off but I didn't really say anything. We just paid the $900 bill and went off feeling ripped off. I don't think they took the undercarriage cover off at all (otherwise why would they have taken off the radiator access port off) and it was just super sloppy and off feeling in general.
Fast forward, I've now had to top off the reservoir 2-3 times in the past few months, so obviously they missed finding the leak/head gasket issue of whatever else could be going on. Now I would normally call them back and get them to try again but they've really lost my trust at this point and I wouldn't put it past them to "diagnose" something without due process. So I'm hesitant to take it just anywhere now and wanted some advice. I'd like a shop to take the time to prove a diagnosis beyond a reasonable doubt and I just don't know where to go!
This really turned into a rambling rant so TL;DR does anyone have a shop they recommend who'll actually do what they say, do a thorough job inspecting and diagnosing before recommending a course of action?
I thought my little bit of knowledge about how cars work would protect me but I'm just too non-confrontational to question choices and call out shady practices.

Looking for somewhere intimate, possibly downtown or in the west end, with good drinks and eats. Thinking cozy booth, fun vibe, but nothing too crazy. No sushi. More of a cocktail bar/ hole in the wall lol Anything helps! Thanks!

Hi. I am looking for photography workshops and courses specializes on film development and dark room use that I can take after working hours. Do you have any suggestions?
Wife called me up just now. Someone accidentally backed into her car from the front (so she was stopped and the car in front reversed into her). There seems to be no damage.
Would you report this to ICBC? On one hand, its minor and not an issue. But the other person might claim that she rear ended them, so I am conflicted.

The vent keeps getting disconnected and I am unable to reach it properly. Do you have recommendations for repair services in the downtown neighborhood?

For those who have applied or were previously hired, how long did it take for you to hear back from them? What was your application timeline like, from submitting your application to receiving an interview invitation or an offer?
Also, has anyone who recently applied received any updates yet? Iโm genuinely curious about everyone elseโs experience and whether theyโre still reviewing applications or have already started reaching out to candidates.
Iโve tried looking online for information about their hiring process and application timelines, but thereโs barely anything available, especially from people who have actually gone through the process. Itโs honestly making the waiting even more nerve-wracking because I have no idea what to expect or how long it usually takes.
Iโve been constantly checking for updates, and Iโm really hoping to hear something back, even if itโs just an interview invitation ๐ญ This is an opportunity Iโm genuinely interested in, so the uncertainty is definitely getting to me. Iโd really appreciate it if anyone could share their experiences, timelines, or any updates theyโve received so far!!

Hello! My husband and I (32M, 31F) are coming to vancouver for our wedding anniversary and are wondering what we can go do. We won't have a car to drive but we got a hotel off granville st so we are right downtown.
I have a knee injury from this summer so that takes out any nice hikes and we did the aquarium 4 years ago but nothing really else. When we come to vancouver its to hangout at The Moose, go to a concert then take the ferry home.
Any suggestions would be nice and appreciated โก
EDIT * OMG yes sorry some things about me and my husband, we both love breweries, rock & roll (hense our love for the moose) we both love trying new food. Maybe some resturant reccomendations?(we enjoy everything) We are both rather shy but love exploring whether thats in nature or checking out some hidden gem shops and windowshopping.
Edit* #2 knee injury is okay for long walks i just can't do any insane hiking trails :)

A few of us (30s, coming up from Portland) are in town this weekend and want to find fun places that didn't make the NYT 36 Hours in Vancouver list. Where would you send your friends if they wanted to meet cool people, maybe dance a little and have a good time?

Iโm currently working out at the Robert Lee YMCA, but Iโm finding it gets quite busy, especially when Iโm trying to use the weightlifting equipment.
Iโm considering switching to the Fitness World location at Bute & Georgia, particularly because itโs significantly cheaper. For reference, Iโm currently paying $34 biweekly at the YMCA, whereas Fitness World is advertising $12.99 biweekly with only a $1 joiner fee right now.
I primarily use the weightlifting equipment and occasionally attend a yoga class, so I donโt need anything too fancy. My main concern is how busy Fitness World gets, particularly in the late afternoon (around 3:30โ4:00 p.m.), and whether thereโs enough equipment available without having to wait around.
For anyone who has experience with either or both locations, Iโd really appreciate your thoughts!
