Oddly Specific 🎯 what’s up with the longshoreman on mclean and franklin?

i work in the area, and every day from 230 -330 pm they block traffic in both directions on this street. i’ve asked them to not double and triple park before and they’ve always responded with extreme hostility and aggression, even going as far as to threaten my life and tell me that they own the VPD and that busters towing is afraid of them. yesterday i saw a person in a wheelchair have to wheel down the middle of the road because they were parked on the sidewalk as well.

can anyone shed some light on this? it’s crazy how much they bully the locals directly in this vicinity.

Events and Activities πŸ±β€πŸ Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Is anyone aware of any events or get togethers in Vancouver?

I lost my baby boy Danny on August 6th this year.

From Baby Loss Awareness Week’s site:
Baby Loss Awareness Week culminates with the global β€œWave of Light” on 15th October, which is alsoΒ a globallyΒ recognisedΒ event.
*Β *
WeΒ invite you to join other families across the world by lighting a candle at 7pm local time and leaving it burning for at least one hour to remember all babies that have died too soon.

If convenient, I hope you would consider lighting a candle at 7pm tonight for Danny and all the other babies that have been lost. Thank you.🩡

Travel πŸš— ✈ Vancouver Transit

What’s one thing you’d change about Vancouver’s transit system?

One problem I keep running into is limited bus capacity downtown, especially on the 250. When it’s busy, I can wait around half an hour just to get on a bus, since the first few pass by full. To be fair, Vancouver has a lot going for it too. The Canada Line and the RapidBus routes are convenient and make getting around much easier. What would you change? Whether it’s routes, frequency, or something else entirely, I’d love to hear your experiences.

Oddly Specific 🎯 Recommendation for budget friendly organizer experienced in decluttering, downsizing and working with ND clients

Hi all, It's been quite a year, I was laid off and have to move to a smaller space at the end of the month. Chronic disorganization has always been an issue for me and with everything piles up, I need help.

I'm looking for recommendations for organizer, professional or any sort of help. Ideally somebody who either is neurodivergent or knows how it's like to be one.

Has anyone had experience with Out Of Chaos? They seem nice but their price rates aren't public.

Thank you for reading, apologies for the TMI.

Oddly Specific 🎯 How much did you spend on tonight's lotto max?

β€’ Upvotes

They say you have a 1 in 33 million chance to win with a $6 ticket.

That means if you spend $12 you have a 1 in 16.5 million chance. $24 is 1 in 8.25 million chance. I spent $48 so I should have a 1 in 4.125 million chance.🀞🏼 Wish me luck y'all!

Events and Activities πŸ±β€πŸ PNE forum

β€’ Upvotes

I’m supposed to be coming to Vancouver for a sold out show at PNE forum next week and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it because I hear nothing but terrible things about the venue. So I have a few questions-

- Is it really that hot?
- Is there room to dance if it’s a sold out show (like open space in the back, bleachers, etc.)
- Is it really difficult to get a cab/uber after the show?
- Can you bring a backpack or purse into the venue or is there a coat check?

Any other pertinent information would be much appreciated too! Thanks!

Pets 🐢🐱 Dog Amputation

My sweet boy is going to get his hind leg amputated, his bone has not been healing the way the vet expected/hoped and this is the best option for him now as he’s been dealing with a limp since TPLO surgery in June.

I am feeling so much emotions about this and would like to know if any pet parents have dealt with this?

Education πŸ“š ELTT Entrance Exam

β€’ Upvotes

Hey, I’m preparing for the ELTT entrance exam. I bought the study packages but they seem quite excessive for what I thought the exam would be? Are the practise packages purposely more difficult?
Such as converting imperial to metric. Without a formula sheet this skill is quite a hassle to memorize every conversion rate. Is this expected?
Along with the physics, I have completed physics 12 with quite a decent grade. Many of these questions are definitely not physics 11 difficulty as the prerequisites request and are honestly still pretty difficult physics 12 questions.
There’s even chem 12 questions?
Does anyone have any tips or info about the exam?

Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Would you report a minor fender bender to ICBC?

Wife called me up just now. Someone accidentally backed into her car from the front (so she was stopped and the car in front reversed into her). There seems to be no damage.

Would you report this to ICBC? On one hand, its minor and not an issue. But the other person might claim that she rear ended them, so I am conflicted.

UPDATE: I called ICBC and reported it. They made a new claim and immediately closed it, so there is a record, but it doesn't impact anyone for the moment. I also gave them the dashcam video. The agent said this is what you should do, because in 6 months if she decides to file a claim for an injury or something, it will be on record.

Thanks all.

Events and Activities πŸ±β€πŸ Anniversary Help!

Hello! My husband and I (32M, 31F) are coming to vancouver for our wedding anniversary and are wondering what we can go do. We won't have a car to drive but we got a hotel off granville st so we are right downtown.

I have a knee injury from this summer so that takes out any nice hikes and we did the aquarium 4 years ago but nothing really else. When we come to vancouver its to hangout at The Moose, go to a concert then take the ferry home.

Any suggestions would be nice and appreciated β™‘

EDIT * OMG yes sorry some things about me and my husband, we both love breweries, rock & roll (hense our love for the moose) we both love trying new food. Maybe some resturant reccomendations?(we enjoy everything) We are both rather shy but love exploring whether thats in nature or checking out some hidden gem shops and windowshopping.

Edit* #2 knee injury is okay for long walks i just can't do any insane hiking trails :)

Travel πŸš— ✈ Seattle VS Vancouver for 2.5 day trip?

Hello!

I am planning a solo trip to either Seattle or Vancouver for early next summer.

I like to go to thrift/antique stores, bookstores, trinket stores, etc. I also love museums, oddities, location specific activities.

Which city would be the better one to go to? I'm from California if that matters!

Found a bunny in my garden. Now he became our pet - He answers our calls and eats from our hands. Now we wonder what we should do about him. Can he survives winter if we release him in the wild? Or any rescue facility?
