How would you approach this renovation?
Hello! I have received a few quotes for this project and they are all so wildly different - not price necessarily but scope of work, just looking to see what others might do for this…on a budget 😬 (I realize it’s going to cost me some moolah but we are also in the process of an enormously expensive electrical and HVAC project we already can’t really afford and I just need a shitty tiny bathroom to get us by, our main bathroom is falling apart now and I’m desperate to get this one done, so when I say on a budget I mean like, yes replumbing my entire house - one quote - is probably a very prudent idea but also not realistic for me).
House was built 1879 and is all over the place. No idea how long ago this second bathroom was put in (photo from house listing at the end) but when we moved in, the valves to the tub were rusted shut. Tub and sink worked fine.
I want to get a shower roughed in to where the cast iron tub used to be, that’s all I want done. Of course nothing is that simple in my old house! The current lead drain from the former tub sort of snakes around everything else and even has a slight rise before turning into the stack. Definitely not a quarter inch slop per foot to the stack or whatever the code is now haha.
The area directly below this is a wall of useless cabinets so no issue needing to bust through the ceiling to fit appropriate plumbing.
Any advice or suggestions about how you’d approach would be helpful! Thank you wonderful folks & happy Thursday :)
