Who should I vote for if I want a government of change?
Who should I vote for if my top priority is replacing Netanyahu's government?
I define myself as a right-winger, and ideologically I strongly identify with Avigdor Lieberman and Yisrael Beiteinu, especially on issues of religion and state, ultra-Orthodox recruitment, and economic policy.
However, my two most important goals in the upcoming elections are replacing Netanyahu's government and establishing a state investigation committee to examine the failures that led to the events of October 7.
My main concern is Lieberman's refusal to sit in a coalition with the Arab parties, or even to form a minority government that would rely on their support from outside. I fear that this position could prevent the formation of an alternative government and lead us to another election.
On the other hand, Lieberman joined the Bennett-Lapid government in 2021, in which Ra'am was a coalition partner, so there is already a precedent for him compromising on this issue.
Personally, I have no objection to cooperating with Arab parties in order to form a government.
So here is my dilemma: Should I vote for the party I most identify with ideologically, or consider voting for another party in the bloc opposing Netanyahu, out of concern that Lieberman's position towards the Arab parties could thwart the replacement of the government?
I would be very happy to hear your opinion, and especially to hear from people who have faced a similar dilemma: Have you ever voted for a party you less agree with ideologically, for strategic reasons? What led you to the decision, and are you happy with it in retrospect?
