My Extremely Disappointing Experience with a Brand-New Honda Accord 2020
It had been a long time since I last purchased a brand-new car(2016), and I expected the Honda Accord to deliver the quality, reliability, and peace of mind associated with the Honda brand. Unfortunately, my experience turned into a complete disaster.
The car performed well for only the first two weeks. After that, serious problems began to appear. First, I noticed visible rust spots on the body, as shown in the attached picture. Shortly afterward, I discovered engine oil leaks.
The problems did not stop there. The car developed a serious steering stability issue: it drifted to the right at low speeds and to the left at high speeds. This was particularly concerning because it affected the car's handling and raised serious safety concerns.
I repeatedly left the car at the dealer for the necessary repairs. Despite multiple repair attempts and the time spent at the service center, they were never able to resolve the steering problem.
On top of these issues, the CVT transmission suffered from delayed response when moving off after coming to a complete stop. The rear parking sensors were also disappointing, as they responded too slowly when approaching an object, reducing confidence in their ability to provide timely warnings.
After four months of dealing with these frustrating and persistent problems, I finally decided to return the car to the dealer. What should have been an enjoyable experience of owning a brand-new vehicle became a stressful, time-consuming, and deeply disappointing ordeal.
I never expected a new Honda Accord to develop so many problems within such a short period. Rust on the body, engine oil leaks, unresolved steering instability, delayed CVT transmission response, and slow rear parking sensors are unacceptable issues to encounter in a brand-new vehicle.
What makes this experience even more disappointing is Honda's extended engine warranty coverage for issues involving gaskets and oil leaks. Customers purchase new cars expecting quality, durability, and reliability—not repeated repairs and unresolved technical problems from the very beginning.
This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in Honda. After everything I went through, I would never consider buying another Honda again. I expected much better from such a well-known brand, but unfortunately, my experience fell far below expectations.
My advice to anyone considering a Honda Accord is to carefully research potential issues and think twice before making a purchase. A brand-new car should provide peace of mind, not four months of frustration and disappointment.
