USA how long did you wait to have sex again after SA/MA abortion?

hi! I had a surgical abortion on 10/02 and i was almost 7 weeks. I was told to wait at least 2 weeks. Im just curious about how long others waited and their experience after having an abortion. I will admit I am a little worried/scared about the first time.

USA When can I try for a baby after abortion?

I’ve posted in here a few times. I regret my abortion more than anything and made my decision in heat of the moment and have never felt more grief in my life. I had d&e at 15 weeks and I am completely traumatized. When will I be able to try for a baby? I was told at the clinic to wait 10 days to insert anything vaginally which means I’m still waiting until Friday. But when will I ovulate? Will my body support another pregnancy so soon? Am I at a greater risk of complications? The only thing that brings my pain any relief is planning for a baby. I was not pregnant on purpose and it brought a lot of stress emotionally and mentally but now I know what I want, unfortunately now that she’s gone 😞 I need advice please.

Asia What to do with the expelled fetus in Indonesia?

So we have successfully aborted the baby. However, we're quite confused on what to do with the remainings. A person recommended burying/throw it in a river, but we don't have any land to bury it and throwing it in the river seems kinda risky. It's kinda big so flushing it down the toilet is risky too. Any recommendations?

Asia I need advices, please help me.

Problem / Goal:
I want to ask if how are the chances of me getting pregnant? Bcs I don’t want to.

Context: F, 22 . Had sex last night and the condom slipped off when my bf was about to pull out (little cum inside the condom). The ring was outside and there’s no leakage no dripping. But to make sure, i took the trust pill (yuzpe method). My period should be on 29th. But I am sure that theres no cum that entered me (only inside the condom). So please tell me if there’s anything I could do more to prevent this.

Previous Attempts: This is my first time with this situation so I really don’t know what other things I should do. Please respect my post.

UK and Ireland scared to take first pill

sitting here with mifepristone box on my lap and munching an M&S cookie (iykyk) for emotional support. i started bleeding last night a little, it was red but only on the toilet paper, not my knickers. had some brown blood since wiping today but nothing to worry about. i might be miscarrying but unsure as this is my first pregnancy, I’m using this as the excuse to just take the pill cos it’s gone anyway but i’m being a wimp!!! why am i struggling to take it? I’m 5 weeks and 6 days according to the scan I had 2 days ago. Think I just need some emotional support or something. Christ!

USA Experience with Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Hey all! I’m in Florida where the abortion ban is 6 weeks. I just found out I’m pregnant and kinda stressing because I don’t know how much time I have. I’m thinking of going to one of those Pregnancy Resource Centers since they do free ultrasounds and pregnancy tests. I’ve heard they can be preachy, but at least I’d have a good idea on how far along I am so I know if I need to go out of state or not. Has anyone had a good experience with them, or should I just go to Planned Parenthood and get the ultrasound in case I need to get the abortion sooner than I thought? Bonus if you’re in Florida and can recommend a clinic. I’m in the SWFL area near Fort Myers. Thanks all!

Canada Regretting my decision and don’t know how to cope

I had an abortion last year, and I was due sometime last October. I regret my abortion so much. I wish I knew whether my baby was a boy or a girl. I know the decision I made was the right one for me at the time, but now I have to live with it forever.

I didn’t really get to cherish the time I was pregnant because all I wanted was to get an abortion as soon as possible. It felt like I was manic and dissociated the entire time. Looking back, I don’t even feel like I was fully present or able to process what was happening.

Almost no one knows about my abortion, and counselling didn’t help either. My BD doesn’t know how to help me, and it didn’t affect him the way it affected me. To be fair it didn’t affect him at all he lived life the same way he was.he doesn’t even acknowledge that it happened. He just pretends it never did, while I’m left carrying the emotional weight of it every day.

Canada Can anyone share their experiences with later MA 8-10 weeks?

I am going through a Medical (Pill) abortion tonight (2nd pills) and curious what to expect. I have had a medical abortion a few years ago at like 5-6 weeks and it was absolutely terrible in terms of pain, and a visible sac/ tissue expelled, shivers, sweats, racing heart, extreme cramps, nausea, diarrhea all at once... so measuring 8 weeks 5 days (but period places me more 9 weeks 3 days), I am even more afraid of serious effects after it begins.

I am thinking of taking 500mg Naproxen, 1000mg Tylenol and 1mg Hydromorphone in advance with Gravol/ pepto-bismol as precaution but worried it may be overkill. I only took a Naproxen last time and zero relief.

How long did it take you to expel the main tissue? Last time it was pretty traumatic cause I could see the sac/ embryo clearly and there was like a gush of liquid....

Canada SA abortion under moderate sedation + local anaesthetic @ 4 weeks (Newfoundland, Canada)

Hi! First of all I would like to thank those who left a kind comment on my previous post. They were extremely helpful. Now I wanted to share my experience for others in need.

I got my abortion done by suction (moderate sedation + local anesthesia) at a small clinic in Newfoundland, Canada (Athene Health Centre aka Clinic 215). I'm glad I went with SA, I was initially considering MA but got terrified after reading all the horror stories here.

I was at the clinic for about 5 hours total, where they provided me paperwork, counseling, ultrasound, medication and IV, and then finally the suction procedure. My experience was very positive.

I would say the scariest part for me was IV insertion, since I've never had it in me before and I HATE needles. But the nurses were kind and quick! I just felt a pinch.

Here is how the procedure went: after getting the IV tube in, they gave me ibuprofen, antibiotics, and some kind of anxiety pill to take. Then two more pills to keep between my gum and cheek for 30 minutes. After about 1.5 hours it was time. They made me change my bottoms to a wrap skirt and wait a little in a comfy reclining chair with a heating pad and a blanket. When I moved to the operation room I laid down on a gynecology bed, had versed and fentanyl injected through IV, then started to feel loopy after a few seconds. I was still awake and felt what was going on - the needles for local anesthetic, and some tools doing whatever inside. Just very sleepy, and not painful. They had a screen on the ceiling showing beautiful art and photos, but I think I had my eyes shut for the most of it lol. After about 5 minutes it started to feel really uncomfortable (closer to itchy than painful), but then boom everything was done!!! They put me in a wheelchair, took me to the recovery room, and gave me a heating pad +blanket + cookies and apple juice while I rested for 30 minutes. I felt completely normal after. I don't remember when I put my pants back on though lol.

I had a normal period-like back pain afterwards until this morning with some bleeding (procedure was yesterday), but otherwise I'm doing fine. I am back to my normal schedule today! Everyone at the clinic was so kind and non-judgemental. I could not have asked for a better environment.

From my experience I highly recommend the suction procedure method. I've never had MA so I don't know what it would be like, but I will just say that I'm glad I went with SA.

UK and Ireland 48 hours since misoprostol not passed pregnancy - UK

48 hrs since I took misoprostol vaginally, I then took 2 more misoprostol 4hrs after first batch because no progress. I started bleeding then it became v light. Now its become super light, no cramps either. Ive had previous early miscarriage & gave birth, each time, including periods, I bleed a lot and experience intense cramping, clots usually in periods & previous miscarriage and pain. This has not been the case this time round.

I currently feel really full in my lower abdomen/pelvic area & exhausted. Ive tried walking aroundto try mobilise blood flow & sitting on the toilet but nothing. I dont think I’ve passed the pregnancy at all, not enough blood nowhere near. Been advised by abortion provider to wait 7 days but something feels wrong and I just want this over with. Any similar experiences or thoughts? I start my new job on Monday and really dont know what to do and wnated to avoid taking time off as soon as I start. Ive pushed start date by 2 weeks already. Feeling overwhelmed.

Latin America and Caribbean Minha experiência com o Misoprostol e a Women on Web no Brasil

Descobri a gravidez no dia 08/09

USA Day 2 Surgical Abortion Experience - Positive - MD, USA

Hello! I am back to update with my day 2 experience.

(day 1 post - https://www.reddit.com/r/abortion/s/vDgm9DQxRf)

I arrived at 7am to CARE Reproductive Health in Chevy Chase, MD following a pretty relaxed evening at my hotel. Minimal cramping, no bleeding. I think CARE operates on a first come, first serve basis for day 2 arrivals. Obviously the amount of time spent at the clinic depends on your body.

I’m taken back to the lab room to have my vitals taken and given antibiotics/pain meds. Gabapentin was included here, which made me sleepy! I got my KVO (keep vein open) IV for sedation /med access later. The IV was put on the top of my hand and wrapped to keep in place.

From there, I went to the post op room where there are several reclining chairs, a tv and snacks. I was given a blanket and hung out for a bit. A short time later, a nurse came in and gave me miso tablets to put in my cheeks. From there, I hung out in the post op room (mostly sleeping) for about 2 hours.

I then was moved to an exam room where a few more tablets were inserted vaginally to further prepare my cervix/uterus. Back to post op to hang out for a bit. Slept more. (I learned I was 21w6d when the nurse came in to give me post op care instructions before taking me back for my procedure, in case anyone was curious.)

Around 12pm I was taken back to the room where my procedure would take place. I had chills from the miso and was honestly very nervous about being put under. My teeth were chattering, so I was given a blanket again. I began to cry some. The nurses were so lovely and talked to me to distract me, one caressing my cheek as I cried and reassuring me. I calmed down almost immediately.

Once they pushed meds, I basically was out. I do remember hearing some sounds, a machine sound which I assume was the curettage machine. I felt NOTHING. Before I knew it, I was all done. I went to a private recovery room where I received cabergoline (helps stop milk from coming in) because I had expressed worry about dealing with breast milk. I was told I might not have it at my gestation but they were happy to give me the cabergoline anyway.

The sweet lady who runs the lab/bloodwork area checked on me several times, taking vitals and checking my pad to be sure I wasn’t bleeding too much. Then, she walked me out to the lobby and told my mom (my ride and support person) how amazing I did.

While I heard CARE is one of the more expensive clinics in the MD area, I am so grateful for my experience there. The staff was incredible and supportive. Absolutely no judgement.

I’m home now, sleeping and taking it easy. I feel basically no pain and bleeding is minimal to moderate. I hope this post helps someone else, I am an open book and happy to answer any questions 💗

USA My pill abortion experience at 6 weeks (brutally honesty, not holding back)

I am about 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant, took forever to get the pill through my school provider (im 21 in college) and heres my journey as I am nervous and want to help others nerves

Background: it took a while to get the pills but got them on Tuesday (after waiting a week in a half since I found out) so took the first set of pills on Wednesday. I go to college 6 hours away from home but I called off school for the week to come down home to do it in my own room with my mom and dog. I would definitely recommend anyone to be able to do it in a comfortable environment if you can.

I took the Mifepristone pill at 11 am 10/14/26

The next morning had a bit of nausea and cramping but the day of taking mifepristone I felt fine,

Now it is 10:35 but I took Zofran and Ibuprofen 400 mg almost an hour before to make sure it had enough time.

Wasn't too hungry, but I made sure to eat before taking all my pills, and have my bed set up with heating pad as well as a fan.

11am took second set of pills 10/15/26 - I also took another 400 mg of Ibuprofen just in case so 800 mg total

Almost 15 minutes into letting it dissolve in mouth started feeling not cramping just discomfort, watching youtube to distract myself and already had heating pad on.

11:40 - had SEVERE cramping (note: I dont get the worst period cramps normally so it could just be im not used to them and they hurt more for me) it made me poop and throw up and had more extreme cramps after this, heating pad wasnt helping, heard laying in a downward doggy position helped, which did but cant tell if its because of that or that I took an extra ibuprofen that helped the pain.

12:10 - able to flip over and lay down with heating pad and watch youtube, sort of feel nauseous but just staying laying down.

1pm - mild but manageable cramping in waves of a couple seconds of relief and then pain, tried massage my lower stomach and sometimes that helped, also nausea but not terrible

1:20ish - took a shower, sorta felt normal not a lot of bleeding so far, then ate a bit of food had more cramping thats painful but manageable, drinking water.

2 - i jinx myself every time I say I dont feel pain or theres no blood, after last update proceed to bleed and just passed a big clot that I thought was sac(looking back on this it could have been) but was just a big clot lol not been fun but im surviving just cant wait for it to be over.

2:22- threw up again, been nauseous forever so forced it, dont recommend, I kinda freaked out because at first it didnt work but I think it backed up and caused a lot of pain at first and then all came up.

almost 4 hours in pain is still here, feel like throwing up still,

3:15 - threw up again :/

4:10 -called doctor to ask if I could take another zofran for my nausea and I got approved so just took another 4 mg, still in pain still passing clots and bleeding. Might take another ibuprofen, the pain just wont go away but doctor says it seems like the pills working and on track so.

4:40 - ate popsicle still making me nauseous, hoping crackers can sit well in my stomach, pain has went down a bit more though, still in waves.

5:20- FINALLY seemed to calm down, not nauseous as before, able to get down crackers and ginger ale! feeling way better and taking it easy, almost fell asleep

7pm - it has really calmed down, mild cramps still bleeding but feeling a lot better and can walk around and feel fine almost feeling like a normal period now just a bit more than that.

I will leave it at this for right now, I can update or if you have any questions feel free im an open book. For the most part of the day I was alone, my mom had a bit of work in the morning and then work in the afternoon. She checked in on me in between and heated up the mashed potatoes I had, which unfortunately couldnt keep down, and then after that she got me the crackers and ginger ale when she got back. Very lucky to have her check in on me, and to be able to come home to do this because I could use the bathroom anytime unlike if I was at college. So back to my original point, if you can do it in a comfortable environment please do. While now I want to be around my mom, I liked being alone earlier during the more painful parts and being able to have my private time to be in pain and yell or make noise. Its my personal experience, I wish it was easier like the stories I read, but you will get through it. It does suck but I dont regret it and Im just glad the pain settled down. <3

UK and Ireland Denied termination by nupas at 20 weeks

I’ve made a previous post on here so I’d just thought I’d let everyone know if you’re going to get an abortion with Nupas make sure your under 16 weeks, I have been waiting since 16 weeks for my termination which is due to medical reasons with Nupas.

They rang me today after my procedure was scheduled for one weeks time after postponing it from this week due to them apparently needing my last blood results despite the doctors already having sent it to them to tell me the anaesthesiologist has denied my care due to my gestational age after they have used me for training nurses to scan and do consent forms with??? They’ve said they’ll refer me to somewhere which is 6 hours away from where I live as I won’t be getting it done from them I said no to any more referrals as I don’t want to let this wait any longer I’ve now contacted MSI again and they are being so much more helpful and have already booked me in for a phone consult and a pre op, they have also told me if they have any concerns they’ll bleep in a doctor to do a physical for me to ensure I’m 100% safe during and after the procedure but I just cannot believe that this has happened to me.

I feel so helpless despite reaching out to MSI as I’m so scared of getting general anaesthetic I started to feel ok about Nupas but now I’m just so worried all over again.
