Reminder: Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech and Harassment

We've noticed an increase in comments making off-color or outright hostile remarks about ICE, immigration enforcement, and vulnerable communities. Comments such as "ICE should just round them all up," "Was ICE there? Hopefully," and similar remarks violate Reddit’s policy against hate based on identity or vulnerability.

Why This Violates Policy:

Reddit explicitly prohibits content that promotes hate or harassment based on race, nationality, or other protected characteristics. Calls for mass enforcement actions against specific groups, jokes that dehumanize immigrants, and antagonistic remarks directed at individuals based on their identity all fall under this policy.

We want to be clear: this is not up for debate. Whether serious or "just a joke," this kind of rhetoric contributes to a hostile and unwelcoming environment.

Enforcement Moving Forward:

  • Comments promoting or celebrating harm toward any group will be removed.
  • Repeat offenders or those engaging in blatant hate speech will be permanently banned.
  • If you see a comment that violates these rules, report it rather than engaging.

We expect our community to engage in discussions with respect. Keep it civil, keep it policy-focused, and most importantly, remember that behind every policy debate are real people with real lives.

Thank you for helping us maintain a welcoming and inclusive space.

Any Strong Opinions on voting on the Upcoming Constitution Amendments?

  1. Constitutional amendment to require all voters, not just those presenting to vote in person, to present photo identification before voting.

  2. Constitutional amendment to keep the State income tax rate from being raised higher than three and one-half percent (3.5%).

  3. Constitutional amendment requiring limits on property tax increases by local governments.

Smoke On The Water Downtown Relocation Wildly Inappropriate Speculation

I am bored and love a puzzle. With Girls With Dough buying out their neighbor Smoke on the Water and giving them the boot, SOTW is moving downtown to an existing seafood restaurant that doesn’t have outdoor space (outback the various articles state) anyone care to wildly speculate ?

It’ll be nice to have a new place downtown but sad that it’s not a net gain

Comic book stores in Wilmington question.

• Upvotes

I have about 60 graded and slabbed walking dead comic books mostly good value.

Are there any stores in town that I can just email them a folder of pictures and they can give me an estimate on what they would purchase?

I just feel that this would be faster and more efficient than me lugging them across town from store to store lol

We have the technology we might as well use it.

Restaurants and Bars

Hi all! I’m new to the area and have family coming to town this weekend. I want to show them around but don’t know what’s good since I also just got here! My family enjoys lively upscale casual dining(preferably with craft cocktails☺️) and my siblings want to go out to bars as well, we’re all mid 20’s. I know it is starting to be off season here so my question is does anyone have good recommendations for what stays pretty busy/best spots year-round? My family is huge restaurant people and they really enjoy seeing the hustle and bustle of busy restaurants(kind of weird I know) TIA

Vendor Interest Survey for Wilmington Horror Convention

Thumbnail

Hey everyone! Last post I’ll make in here until this becomes a finalized set in stone thing. Same as my last post, this post is to gauge interest in potential vendors for a 2027 horror convention in Wilmington.

This is solely to get some insight on what vendors are looking for in a Wilmington horror convention. If you’re interested in attending as guest, please see my last post.

If you know someone that may be interested in attending as a vendor, please share this Google forms survey with them.

This is not an application or commitment! This is solely gauging interest.

Also want to add, I truly appreciate all of the positive feedback and excitement around the potential of this. Rest assured I am thoroughly keeping track of all feedback and working hard at ensuring this is exactly what everyone wants if it becomes a reality.

Thank you again!

Anyone witness hit & run at Market & Covil at 6pm yesterday 10/13/26?

Hi everyone, last night I was driving from Montgomery Street to Covil through a greenlight across market Street at 6 PM and I slammed on brakes when I saw a guy on a bicycle just flying through the intersection on the sidewalk

I fully stopped my car as I was entering Covil and the guy saw me and was probably 15 feet away on the sidewalk and then steered towards my car and rammed into it with his bike and gashed the fender, door, wheel, windshield and then yelled “sorry! My brakes don’t work!” And kept riding up market street toward the direction of college rd

For my insurance to count it as a hit-and-run I need an eyewitness

Did anybody see this at 6 PM last night at market in Covil?

Anyone else getting spammed by “Wave Wellness” ads? The math ain't mathing lol

Is anyone else’s IG feed just non-stop Wave Wellness ads right now? They’re opening in the old Lowe's Foods at Pine Grove and Greenville Loop and I honestly can't stop laughing at what they're trying to pull on Wilmington.
Look, I genuinely never want to see a local business fail, but they seriously set themselves up for this
They keep pushing this false panic about how memberships are "strictly capped" and if you don't drop $199/mo RIGHT NOW you'll be stuck on a 2-3 year waitlist. But they’ve been running these ads forever and clearly haven't even hit their 250 "founder" spots yet. Plus they only have like 3,900 followers, and half of them are just people who tagged 3 friends to win a Yeti cooler a while back lol.
The best part is if you actually look at their site, the $199 (which supposedly goes up to $299 later??) is literally just a cover charge. A $199 gym membership in a terrible location.
You still have to pay extra for reformer pilates, childcare, the med spa, IV drips, etc. You are basically paying $2,400+ a year for the privilege of walking into a retrofitted grocery store just so they can upsell you on Botox.
They're trying to market this as some ultra-exclusive LA velvet-rope sanctuary, but it’s a massive empty box in a strip mall where we all used to buy BOGO chicken.
To top it off, they already said the med spa and cafe will be open to the public anyway. So much for an exclusive private club when anyone off the street can just walk through the lobby for lip filler.
I give it six months before that $299 rate quietly disappears and they start running $89 New Year specials just to cover the overhead on that massive building and very expensive staff.
All flavors or popcorn ready for December.

Moving within Wilmington – need a studio/1BR by Dec 11, any advice?

Hey everyone,

I currently live in Wilmington and need to move by December 11. I'm looking for a studio or 1-bedroom in Wilmington or nearby towns (Leland, Hampstead, etc.). My budget is around $1000-1100/month, ideally with electricity/utilities included.

Does anyone have recommendations — affordable apartment complexes, private landlords, or listings I should check? I'm also open to renting a room if someone has one available.

I'm open to any suggestions and ideas. Thanks in advance!

Finally someone uses AI to do good. I know of two so far, not sharing the location as I’m certainly not helping this jackass and his campaign take them down. To whomever did this, my hat is tipped to you!

10/13/26 6:33am SpaceX Launch

To get ahead of it, and to let people know to be on the lookout, there is a scheduled SpaceX launch this morning from the Cape. The sun will rise as the rocket passes overhead and it should be a great show.

Look southeast at about 6:36am. Should not be able to miss it.

Get out and see it and post your pics.

It’s not a meteor or a UFO.

These have become more rare as SpaceX shifted Starlink to California until Starship is ready to start Florida launches.

This one is headed to the ISS.

Horror Convention Interest Survey

Thumbnail
forms.gle
46 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

We're exploring the possibility of bringing a new one-day horror convention to Wilmington, NC -- and we want to hear from the horror community!

The idea is to create an affordable, community focused horror event featuring celebrity guests, horror vendors and collectables, oddities, panels, cosplay, horror gaming, practical effects and more.

We're currently in the early research and planning phase, so no event date, venue, or guests have officially been announced or booked. This survey is simply to help us gauge interest and learn what YOU would want to see from a convention in Wilmington.

The survey on takes a couple of minutes, and your feedback could help shape the event from the very beginning.

Thank you in advance for helping us plan the best possible experience for this convention, we look forward to hearing from you!

Hallmark shoots

Anyone out there crewed on a Hallmark production?   I was in the film industry. I have been reading on how Hallmark film productions work and pay. I am reading that a full feature length show is shot in 2-3 weeks/ 1-2 million production budget, 80 per year, 50 -60% shot in Canada, All non union, & they actually try to nail a shot with one take?  My jaw hit the ground. Everyone knows that TV movies are a nightmare  but I had no idea it had gotten this bad. I mean if its that fucked up, how much of a loss is this to Wilmington?
