I'm trying to identify a female artist/cartoonist whose work focused heavily on police brutality.
The most distinctive detail I remember: she used to portray police officers as pigs, but deliberately stopped because she felt pigs were lovable creatures who didn't deserve to be used as an insult. She explained this decision in an interview. Afterwards, she depicted police as brutish, bulky human figures instead.
Other things I remember:
- She produced many drawings about police violence and worked for newspapers.
- Her work was predominantly black and white, with bold shapes that sometimes looked like stencils.
- I encountered her work on Twitter, probably around 2018-2021. I believe the discussion was in English.
- She may have been from Latin America, but I'm very uncertain about that detail.
The explanation above is a paraphrase, not an exact quote. Unfortunately, I don't have an image or a link anymore.
Does anyone recognize the artist or remember that interview?
