Self Promotion you can now fish in VR and still watch your actual TV

Hey, I work on Real VR Fishing for Quest.

Last holiday we threw in a mixed reality mode as kind of a test, not really expecting much. People ended up liking it a lot more than we thought, so we decided to make it a permanent feature.

While we were at it, we added room scanning. You scan your room and pick which parts become the fishing spot, and everything else stays as your real room. So you can leave your TV visible with the game on and fish in the rest of the space. Honestly that’s how a lot of us play anyway lol.

It’s in the base game, so if you’re on Horizon+ you can just jump in and try it.

Curious what you guys think, or what else you’d want to keep visible while fishing.

This is Thousands at War, a large-scale VR battle sandbox I’ve been working on for Quest 3/3S.

You can create the armies, set their sizes, command them, and then fight inside the battle yourself in first person.

The base game will be free to play.

If anyone wants to wishlist it, I’ll put the Meta Store link in the comments.

Discussion Why VR Visuals Aren’t Appealing

• Upvotes

Today, I launched Virtual Desktop, set the visual quality to High, enabled Snapdragon Super Resolution, and fired up Kayak VR Mirage. I chose the Costa Rican jungle and, somewhere in the middle of the scene where everything looks most beautiful, I started testing different rendering modes. I tried the newer version of DLSS, FSR, TAA, and also turning everything off to see the native image without any processing whatsoever.

DLSS turned out to be the best option for anti-aliasing and overall sharpness, even though it blurs the water, which is a real shame. Still, it’s an amazing technology, especially in its newer versions.

However, when I completely disabled anti-aliasing and supersampling, the image became jagged and shimmery, particularly when looking into the distance. At the same time, though, it suddenly became incredibly appealing to me. Everything was perfectly sharp, regardless of distance. It was so sharp that looking at it felt deeply satisfying. The perceived depth of the image increased dramatically, too. The lighting and colors also shifted toward much fresher, more vibrant tones.

DLSS is like a beautiful postcard, but this felt as if I were actually there, despite the jagged edges and shimmering. Suddenly, I desperately wanted to explore every detail of the landscape: what was hiding behind a tree, behind a bush, in the distance, or beneath the water.

That was the moment I understood what VR really needs to become truly appealing, amazing, and beautiful at the same time.

We need to say goodbye to image enhancement techniques such as DLSS, FSR, TAA, and similar tools. They are great technologies, but they create more of an impression of looking at a postcard than being in an interesting world. What we need is the original, unprocessed render. We simply need many more pixels. Enough to deliver perfect detail, with jagged edges becoming so tiny that they no longer distract us.

The optics don't need to be any sharper than they are today. In fact, one advantage of current pancake optics is that they provide a kind of free anti-aliasing for microscopic jagged edges. :-)

We need a headset with 60 PPD, and then we'll all be happy, because that's when VR will finally become truly appealing.

And if anyone thinks that perhaps 30 or 40 PPD might be enough, they're mistaken. VR will only become truly appealing once we achieve perfect sharpness throughout the entire scene.

Discussion With vibe coding going nuts right now, any chance for a Madden VR?

I know we’ve got nfl pro era but that is a pretty limited game. Wondering if vr madden would logistically work. I guess it’s just figuring out the velocity of the throws? And the switch to who catches it too I suppose.

Discussion We’re the developers of VMX — a VR BMX, MTB & Scooter game. Ask Us Anything! 🚲🥽

Hey everyone! 👋

We’re the team behind VMX, a VR action sports game where you can ride BMX, MTB, and scooters using gesture-based controls to pull off tricks.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHpNKJNmwrM
Meta Page: https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/vmx/9972621452774845/
Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3554630/VMX/

We recently launched VMX on Meta Quest, and with a whole bunch of new riders joining us, we thought now would be a great time to sit down and chat with you guys directly.

So... Ask Us Anything!

Want to know how the trick system works? How do we handle the physics? What goes into building the maps? Why tailwhips are destroying everyone? 😂

Or maybe you just want to tell us what you’d love to see added to VMX.

Development, VR, BMX, MTB, scooters, future ideas, questionable design decisions - ask away!

We’ll be answering questions here for the rest of the day, and afterward.

Joining us for the AMA today are members of the VMX development team:

Oskar — u/CrackersVR
Rick — u/goddamnsuperhero

We’d also love to hear your feedback while we’re here. VMX is something we’re continuing to build alongside the community, so your ideas genuinely help us figure out where we should take things next.

Ask us anything below! 🤘

Hole Wall

It's actually a mixed reality game. What you're seeing is the actual layout of my room. I'm currently working on a major update, so I'll be sharing the mixed reality gameplay in the next few days.

The idea is to turn everyone's own home or room into a portal-based puzzle playground. You shoot shape-specific portals and guide puzzle objects to their final destinations.

And of course, it's so much more fun when you're actually playing inside your own room in mixed reality!

I've challenged myself to get the game ready by next month. I'd love to hear your feedback, and wishlists are more than welcome!

I'll be sharing more gameplay videos soon!

Developer Lord & Master - Apashe | Free Song Update | Synth Riders VR Meta Quest + PSVR2 + SteamVR

• Upvotes

It’s that time of year again! Our annual Spooky Update is here and it’s free for everyone.

A free song: “Lord & Master” by Apashe

Sneak Peak: https://youtu.be/LeErfoZ3vLU

Apashe’s orchestral bass sound is a perfect fit for the season. It’s dark, cinematic, and heavy enough to keep you moving. “Lord & Master” joins the library at no cost, and it’s our way of saying thank you. You’ve played, mapped, streamed, competed, and stuck with us for years. This one’s for you.

You’ll find it in Specials pack.

The bats are out of their cages

For a limited time, bats are flying over the Spin City home stage and play stage. Look up between songs, because they won’t be around for long.

Neon Bloom + Flash (now available on Standalone)

We’ve turned on two new visual effects, Neon Bloom and Flash, which add a lot of extra glow and punch to every stage. Both are optional. You can turn them on or off and adjust them anytime in Settings.

And we’re just getting started

We have big plans for the end of the year. Stay tuned, because there’s a lot more on the way. Grab your headset, keep enough lights on for your tracking, and see you in Spin City.

Thanks again for playing!

The Synth Riders Team
