When some famous person inflicts on us something shitty by larping a popular animanga

1-MADARA by Ez Mill and dementia-ridden grandpa named Eminem : THE MV is AI generated and it looks shittier than those AI-generated menus you find in restaurants that looks like maggot, the actual rapping feels like actual leftovers of leftovers, and yeah there is the actual Madara in the song but whatever

2-JJK by Machine Gun Kelly (Emo Boy) and that dude who made that shit song about horses : MGK sharing his musical prowess and special-grade larping with "Gojo Six Eyes technique" and mixing JJK with chainsaw man (the Rap devil line was clever tho that was fine)

3-The Steel Ball Run Outro (Yuki Chiba) : Dr Luke who should be in prison inflicts on us one of the canonical ways Diavolo dies, with amazing lyrics from Yuki Chiba like "A horse with high horse power"

Characters (Oddly common trope) Dark skinned/tanned characters tightly related to water.

Thumbnail
gallery
76 Upvotes
  1. Nilah (League of Legends). Can manipulate water and has a water sword-whip
  2. Team Aqua (Pokémon). In the remakes, team aqua members have darker skin than in the original.
  3. Water Tribe, and most water benders by extension (Avatar) are often dark skinned.

4&5. Marlon and Nessa (Pokémon). Water Type gym leaders.

  1. Aqualad (Young Justice/DC).

EDIT.

I should clarify, i mean SUPERNATURAL relation to water, via superpowers/summons/weapons, etc. Not just people who live by the ocean.

Powers When villain joins mc squad BUT doesn't lose powers.

So great, entertaining, and just good.

I LOVE SUCH TROPES SOOO MUCH. In action things, by that time where villain joins mc group, already a lot of time has passed and a lot of fights were won, so another "kick your face" sequence can be skipped with cool AURAFARMING villain killing somebody with just snap of their fingers! And also it just so pleasantly to watch them use that powers that they used in fight against mc, but in opposite side.

"Hey can you use that cool laser that you were using while fighting us?"

"Sure thing bro"

Discord is prime example, watching him doing all this abstract mess while being on side of main 6 was so nice. And his arc with Fluttershy only added to this! So cool. Also I would like to include Mourgarth (you don't know him lol) his bard part was fire.

Discord is from my little pony. He was a villain for a few seasons, but got redeemed in third one. His main theme is CHAOS, lol no wonder why a whole song was written for him! He got redeemed after he found at least someone who is not scared to death by him.

Mourgarth from series Heroes of Envell. This one was created as the main villain and the last boss of game, but his fate was only in "guy to defeat". He is self conscious AI. Later in series he didn't get redeemed, but went to mc group.

Very nice.

So what are yours?

Hated Tropes ( Annoying af trope ) When the good guys possess perfect defensive position/advantages that was completely ruined by someone's sheer stupidity, pettiness, or selfishness

Thumbnail
gallery
8.8k Upvotes

I understand that these scenes must happen in order for the plot to continue but they still make me angry till today whenever I think about them because of how easy it could've been avoided. I doesn't mean these scenes are necessarily bad written, just hella hard to watch.

The Jerusalem Wall / The Singing Crowd (World War Z): Israel literally anticipated the zombie apocalypse and built a flawless, massive wall that kept everyone 100% safe. It was the ultimate safe haven. But then people inside started celebrating and singing on a microphone so loudly that it triggered a zombie pyramid, they didn't even stop until the first zombies started coming through. They have less survival instinct than an amoeba.

Ephialtes (300): The Spartans had the perfect phalanx formation at the Hot Gates. They were slaughtering the Persian army with minimal casualties and could have held them off for so much longer. Then this guy gets his feelings hurt because he can't lift a shield, throws a tantrum, and tells Xerxes about the secret goat path.

Grandma Jong-gil (Train to Busan): The survivors fought through hell and literal waves of infected to secure a safe train car. Sure, the crowd inside was selfish for locking them out at first, but everyone was finally safe inside. Then this grandma, fueled by grief and spite over her sister, decides to open the door and let the infected flood the entire car, killing everyone.

Hated Tropes [Hated Trope] Crossovers that fundamentally don’t understand the source material

Thumbnail
gallery
7.2k Upvotes

When a crossover basically does the exact opposite of what the source material clearly lays out because the creators clearly just don’t care about the source material at all.

Emil - Dead by Daylight

The one that inspired this post. Emil as a character is the most hopeful, optimistic, and kind character in the entire NieR series, maybe in all of Yoko Taro’s games (maybe aside from Yonah). His goal is to help as many people as he possibly can and even when he goes through immense suffering he always comes out the other side ready to keep on helping people.

Then Dead by Daylight adds him as a killer skin, because “he looks creepy.” You know, the aspect of the character that’s his biggest struggle, that causes him to be scared of how people will judge him, and that makes him hate himself. That’s what we’ll base our entire concept on. Genius idea.

Iron Giant - Ready Player One

Technically you could argue that it’s not an example because it’s just a part of the game and Wade is the one misunderstanding the source material. To that I raise you that this is actually an in universe example of the trope, with the game including the Iron Giant as a crossover where you can use him as a weapon, thereby misunderstanding the source material.

Also it’s probably the filmmakers completely misunderstanding the source material/not caring as well.

Characters [funny comedic trope] Incidental Homoerotica

Thumbnail

I’m referring to scenes where two straight characters are involved in an otherwise innocuous interact that unintentionally looks/sounds like a sexually charged moment.

Wild Wild West - When Jim and Gordon try to free themselves from the magnetic collars, Jim’s clings To Gordon’s belt buckle, putting them in an awkward position

The Island - After escaping the bunker, Lincoln is able to track down his friend McCord to a bar restroom, where he confronts him for answer. McCord, however, has his pants around his ankles, and tells Lincoln they should go to a private place after he replaces his pants, which a bystander interprets as the two hooking up

Bad Boys 2 - (funny how Will Smith again) Mike’s conversation with Marcus in the TV store is interpreted by all the other shoppers as them discussing a poor experience with anal sex, even though they’re actually just discussing the case they’re working and Mike’s accidental shooting of Marcus in his rear.

Personality (Mixed Trope) Spoiled Brat

Thumbnail
gallery
39 Upvotes

Princess Morbucks is a spoiled brat to a ridiculously insane levels, and a deconstruction. Due to her being so spoiled, her dad just gives her money so he won't have to put up with her behavior. She’s so spoiled that she has a private chef, her own amusement park, and limousine. Hell, her dad even purchased the entire city of Townsville, including the rights to the local police department. (From “The PowerPuff Girls”)

Darla Dimple enjoys a life of unparalleled luxury and extreme wealth funded by her massive Hollywood success. She demands that she be given everything she wants and be focused on 100% of the time. She has a castle-like mansion, self-portraits, self-golden statues, her own luxury breakfast brand, her own butler, and a designer wardrobe of pink dresses. (From “Cats Don’t Dance”)

Natalie Sands the primary antagonist and a classic archetype of a spoiled brat. She nearly runs over Lynne while carelessly parking her expensive car, showing zero remorse. Furious at being challenged, she literally bribes Lynne's dance partner to ruin her audition for the show Dance TV. Her incredibly wealthy father acts as her ultimate enabler, even throwing a massive country club ball to celebrate her making the dance finals. (From “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”)

Sharpay Evans is self-centered, arrogant, and narcissistic. She wants everything to go her way and is very entitled. Sharpay is willing to backstab anyone, including her twin brother Ryan, in order to be in the spotlight. Her family is wealthy and often spoils her with expensive gifts. She has a hot-pink Honda S2000 sports car, a rotating museum of luxury fashion, her own school parking space, a customized double-wide locker painted entirely hot pink, a crystallized hot-pink T-Mobile cellphone, and a personalized rhinestone graduation cap with her initials “S.E.” Hell, even her Yorkshire Terrier puppy, Boi, lives a life of absolute luxury, frequently outfitted in designer canine outfits, matching pink sweaters, and his own miniature luxury travel carriers. (From “HSM” movie trilogy)

Steff McKee is the quintessential wealthy, arrogant rich high schooler who uses his family’s immense fortune to project power and status. He brags about his money, throws destructive parties in his parents' expensive multi-million dollar estate, wears classy & preppy suits, drives a premium vehicle, and wears signature designer wire-rimmed sunglasses to look down on others. Even his habits are expensive. He is frequently seen smoking premium imported cigarettes, which he lights with a sleek, high-end lighter to exude a mature, country-club aura. He also tells Blaine he'll stop hanging out with him unless he stops liking Andie because he thinks she’s poorer than them. (From “Pretty in Pink”)

Dale & Brennan are the ultimate definition of spoiled, overgrown brats. Despite being 40-year-old men, they live entirely off their parents, refuse to get jobs, and throw massive, destructive temper tantrums when they don't get their way. They’re always demanding toward their parents, often throwing loud tantrums when they don't get what they want. They don't appreciate that Nancy and Robert try to accommodate them so they'd feel comfortable as a new family and are always rude to them. (From “Step Brothers”)

Veruca Salt is a spoiled brat to the absolute extreme in both 1971 & 2005 movie versions. He has an immense collection of expensive material possessions, luxurious clothes, and exotic pets, all funded by her incredibly wealthy father, Mr. Rupert Salt. Her father owns a highly successful peanut-shelling factory, which he routinely leverages to pacify her constant, screaming demands for anything that catches her eye. When meeting Willy Wonka, Veruca proudly wears a luxurious mink coat. When Wonka compliments it, she casually boasts that she has three other mink coats at home. During her famous musical number, “I Want It Now,”she demands a highly absurd, expensive list of items and experiences to be bought for her immediately. She fiercely demands either Willy Wonka’s golden-egg-laying geese (1971 film) or his highly trained nut-sorting squirrels (2005 film). (From “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”)

David & Alexis Rose began the series as completely spoiled, clueless brats. Neither is a bad person per se, just used to getting whatever material thing they want. It’s made clear that this is totally their parents’ fault since they preferred to throw money at their children rather than invest time or energy in them. They possessed an ultra-luxury, high-fashion wardrobe and collection of designer items that they desperately clung to even after losing their massive family fortune. Before their bankruptcy, their lives were defined by unlimited billionaire wealth, which translated into incredibly niche, expensive, and avant-garde personal belongings. (From “Schitt’s Creek”)

Paulina Sanchez is Casper High’s resident wealthy “A-Lister” queen bee, flaunting high-end fashion, luxury accessories, and expensive parties. She aggressively uses her cash and social standing to reinforce her position at the top of the school food chain. In the episode “Memory Blank,” Paulina throws an incredibly lavish, high-budget 15th birthday party. The event is so exclusive that she only hands out invitations to Danny Fenton and his friends as bait to get Danny Phantom to show up. In the episode “Lucky in Love” she’s completely obsessed with Danny’s ghost after ego that she uses her extensive allowance to deck out her school locker with a pristine, borderline expensive collection of full-color photographs, decorative candles, and custom memorabilia dedicated to the Ghost Boy. (From “Danny Phantom”)

Lola Loud is the text-book definition of a spoiled, high-maintenance brat. As the 7-year-old beauty queen of the massive Loud family, she stands out for her aggressive vanity, intense tantrums, and absolute refusal to settle for anything less than perfection. Her parents are shown to spoil her at times since she has her own toy car; her dad gave her a subscription to the Princess Channel in one episode. She also acts ill-tempered and is even liable of Disproportionate Retribution when she doesn't get her way. There is also the fact that she regularly attends beauty pageants and acts like a spoiled princess most of the time. (From “The Loud House”)

Chloé Bourgeois whose doting and severely spine-lacking father is the mayor of Paris. She's very used to getting her way because of her father's influence and is prone to throwing tantrums or doing petty things if she doesn't. Because her father giving her everything she wants out of guilt and enablement, Chloé treats Paris as her personal shopping mall. Instead of a normal house, Chloé lives in the ultra-exclusive Royal Entropy suite at the Le Grand Paris luxury hotel, which is owned by her family. Her everyday outfit features clothes designed by luxury French fashion brands like Chanel and Dior. Before losing her miraculous, she possessed a solid-gold, diamond-encrusted spinning top weapon and customized her Queen Bee suit to reflect high-fashion aesthetics. She is driven everywhere in a sleek, top-of-the-line black limousine operated by her family's personal butler and chauffeur, Armand Malraux. She routinely forces her father to fund massive, extravagant red-carpet parties and galas at Le Grand Paris entirely for her own amusement, such as her massive birthday celebrations. She always flaunts the latest luxury smartphone models, accessorized with expensive, customized designer phone cases to match her outfits. (From “Miraculous Ladybug”)

Veronica Lodge is the definitive “spoiled rich girl” since she’s the only child of the billionaires Hiram and Hermione Lodge. She frequently goes on massive shopping sprees and expects Archie to drop everything for her. She strictly buys expensive designer clothing from labels like Ted Baker, Kate Spade, and Veronica Beard, including tweed skirts, silk pajamas, and animal fur jackets. In the comics, she is notorious for wearing an outfit once and throwing it away a few months later. Veronica owns an extensive collection of high-grade pearl necklaces and earrings. She drives in style with either high-end sports cars, European luxury convertibles, and chauffeured limousines. In the comics, she lives in Lodge Manor, a sprawling, multi-acre estate complete with a massive swimming pool, tennis courts, an indoor bowling alley, and a staff of servants. In Riverdale, she resides in The Pembrooke, a highly exclusive, glamorous penthouse apartment building owned entirely by her family. In the television series, Veronica shifts her wealth into actual commercial power. She buys out and owns major town staples. Including Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, a subterranean speakeasy called La Bonne Nuit, a jewelry storefront called La Petite Bijoutière, and even a full-scale casino called the Babylonium. Her most powerful “possessions” are her unrestricted platinum and black credit cards. From “Archie comics” & “Riverdale”)

Angelica Pickles is is the ultimate 1990s cartoon spoiled brat. As a manipulative, loud-mouthed 3-year-old, she perfectly embodies the “only child syndrome,” using intense tantrums, psychological warfare, and parental neglect to get absolutely everything she wants. Angelica firmly believes she is the center of the universe. She demands constant attention, treats the babies as her personal servants, and throws earth-shattering screaming fits if she is ignored for even a second. She is obsessed with toys, candy, and commercial goods. She evaluates people entirely based on what they can give her, famously declaring, “If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it!” Her parents, Drew and Charlotte Pickles, are classic workaholics who use money, gifts, and blind obedience to compensate for their lack of quality time. Drew constantly caves to her demands, calling her “Princess” and buying her whatever she cries for to keep her quiet. Angelica's most prized and iconic possession is her doll Cynthia. Angelica treats her like royalty and demands expensive accessories for her, including a Cynthia sports car, a Cynthia dream house, and a Cynthia cruise ship. She famously owns a state-of-the-art karaoke machine, bottomless treats, and a huge bedroom filled with toys. (From “Rugrats”)

Jackson Whittemore is the quintessential wealthy, arrogant high school jock whose upper-class lifestyle serves as his armor. Adopted by a highly successful and wealthy Beacon Hills family, Jackson's security and identity are deeply tied to his status, and he routinely uses his material privilege to establish dominance over his peers. Jackson’s drives a pristine silver luxury Porsche sports car gifted to him by his parents, styles in premium designer clothing, and lives in the wealthiest mansion in Beacon Hills. (From “Teen Wolf”)

London Tipton is a multi-billionaire hotel heiress who treats the entire world as her personal luxury catalog. Her personal closet is several stories tall and features a talking mirror that styles her. London lives by the financial motto “wear it a day, throw it away.” London regularly drops massive amounts of cash on travel. She flies everywhere in her father’s signature Tipton Private Jet and has a personal chauffeured limousine on standby at every port. She even has her own web show, a pure gold diamond-encrusted cellphone, a blimp, a blouse yacht, and a private cargo submarine. Hell, her dad even once bought Iceland for her because she wanted to be an ice skater. Her dog, Ivana Tipton, also lives a more luxurious life than most humans. Ivana is dressed exclusively in high-end designer dog clothing, wears real diamond dog collars, has her own cell phone, and travels in a first-class, personalized carrier. (From “Suite Life”)

Princess Hildegard is one of the most popular and outwardly snobbish princesses at Royal Prep Academy. Heavily indulged by her father, King Henrik, she carries herself with a haughty attitude and a strong belief that she is “a cut above the rest.” While her personal aesthetic leans toward slightly simpler, classical designs compared to her flamboyant best friend, Princess Amber, her lifestyle is incredibly grand. She and Amber design a concept that includes two entire separate castle for gowns and shoes. Rather than a common cat or dog, Hildegard owns a highly exotic and pristine white mink named Lulu. Lulu travels with her regularly and serves as the ultimate high-society pet accessory. Hildegard rarely leaves the kingdom without her trademark jewelry. She accents her signature teal and blue ballgowns with custom-crafted pearl earrings, high-grade pearl necklaces, and an elaborate flowery circlet tiara. As a marker of her elite posture and aloof demeanor, Hildegard frequently carries a luxury royal folding fan. Hildegard’s father is so doting on her that he bought every doll in a store when she was 4-years old and tried to steal a rare bird’s egg just because she wanted it. (From “Sofia the First”)

Dragon Ball Super Hero - The movie is about Gohan and Piccolo while Goku and Vegeta are side characters

Cars 2 - the movie is more of a Mater movie and Lightning Mcqueen’s race feels like a second, lesser important plot

Street Fighter 1994 - Guile is the main character of the movie instead of Ry

This is different from a spinoff, the main character is still part of the story, they’re just not the main focus, while a spinoff would be a different character on their own separate adventure with no involvement from the MC

Dog Man: The Dutch version changed the "Pee-tea" joke to something else, changed Big Jim's name, and even the name of Miss Chieves. The Spanish versions and Canadian French version changed Dr Scum's arms joke.

Captain Underpants: The Danish version mentioned Shubidua instead of Weird Al, the Croatian version mentoned "Jugovina', and the Czech version mentioned "Super Diskohity".

Also, why doesn't Dog Man get the same recognition in translation research as Asterix has already?

Odin ( MCU ) In his first appareance he very conveniently falls into the Odinsleep, which allows Loki to rule Asgard at his place and all the events that we see in the first Thor movie happen. In TDW he arrived again very conveniently after the dark elves had already invaded Asgard and killed the queen. In the same movie he gets put under a potent enchantment by Loki that wiped out his memories and sent him to earth. And in Thor Ragnarok he dies of old age, which allows Hela to escape her imprisonment and eventually led to the destruction of Asgard.

Captain Marvel ( MCU ) In Avengers Infinity War when Thanos was planning to wipe out half the population of the Universe where was she? Exactly. And in Avengers Endgame she appears at the very end of the final battle, very convenient if you ask me?.

Like the Professional Shitpost, except it feels less like a meme and more like a conspiracy theory.

All Hail King Julien
This show confirms everything you'd never want to know about the Madagascar universe.
From King Julien coming from an inbred family. to Julien's uncle having set up a secret government program to brainwash innocent citizens of the Lemur Kingdom into being his slave assassins, to Mort being a 50+ interdimensional perverted eldritch hermit with psychic abilities, to there being a cult of snails that dress up as bells that were manipulating the Aye-Aye Kingdom into thinking they were gods.

Neon Genesis: Evangelion
It's a show about people using giant robots to fight giant alien monsters exceptthe giant robots are acually the protagonists' moms, and the giant alien monsters are actually the same species as humans, sorta? It's complicated, also the monsters aren't even the main villains.

The real main villains are an ancient cult that runs the world and is in charge of the organization the protagonists' work for.

Characters [Adored Trope] I burn my decency for someone else's future. Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
26 Upvotes

The characters who believe that things need to change so desperately that they'll sacrifice everything, including their morality too do it. Maybe they lose their way, maybe they succeed but at the end of the day they will not be around to enjoy it either because they've died or are changed by the guilt of what they had to do.

Luthen Rael (Andor)
A former soldier who saw the harm caused by the Empire. His monologue is worth printing in full:

Calm. Kindness. Kinship. Love. I've given up all chance at inner peace. I've made my mind a sunless space. I share my dreams with ghosts. I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there's only one conclusion: I'm damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight, they've set me on a path from which there is no escape. I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my, what is my sacrifice? I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them.

I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude. So, what do I sacrifice? Everything!

He is a murderer, a terrorist, he pushes his people to the upmost limit and beyond sacrificing those who would be friends and is looked at as a heartless monster because someone has to be otherwise the necessary things will not happen. The whole time he is vividly aware of his own moral failings but is burning up with the knowledge that what he is doing has to happen.

Silco (Arcane)

Silco was an idealistic young man who wanted to help the people of his oppressed community. His actions turned into tragedy when their movement was put down with brutal force by the Piltover Enforcers. His former ally turned on him and nearly killed him, but he escaped and spend years amassing power in the shadows before taking control using drugs, blackmail and his own small army of thugs. He sees the pain and agony he is causing; he looks down at his pawns because he sees the same evil in them as the ones who are oppressing his people. In the end, he is given a choice between his adoptive daughter and independence for Zaun.

I’d like to let you in on a very important secret I learned when I was about your age, boy. You see, power, real power doesn’t come to those who were born strongest or fastest or smartest. No. It comes to those who will do anything to achieve it.

Ozymandias (Watchmen)

A superintelligent superhero who sees that humanity is its own worst enemy. He spends decades concocting a plan to teleport fake alien creatures into major population centers to convince the world that there is an alien invasion occurring so that they would unify against an external threat.

"The Comedian was right. Humanity's savage nature will inevitably lead to global annihilation. So in order to save this planet, I have to trick it... with the greatest practical joke in human history."
"Killing millions?"
"To save billions. A necessary crime."
"You know we can't let you do that."
"Do that', Rorschach? I'm not a comic book villain. Do you seriously think I would explain my master stroke to you if there were even the slightest possibility you could affect the outcome? I triggered it 35 minutes ago."
...
"I've made myself feel every death... see every innocent face I've murdered to save humanity. You understand, don't you?"

miscellaneous When cartoons are used to represent systematic racism.

Thumbnail
gallery
33 Upvotes

I find that when animation try to tackle racism, it always a hit or miss because they tend to find reasons for bigotry but in reality bigotry is just plain ignorance and hatred. For example, in Zootopia I won’t blame prey animals for being fearful of predators since they can eat them. However, these 2 movies are the best clear examples of depicting systematic racism.

  1. Who framed Roger Rabbit?- The toons are tested like a marginalized class, like Black people. Toons and humans are segregated. Toons can perform for humans in clubs but aren’t allow to be guests there, like how Black entertainers were treated in the past. Toontown was almost wiped out by Judge Doom’s plans to build highways, which had happened to many Black towns.

  2. Coyote vs Acme- Acme treat cartoons like lab rats by having them test out dangerous products so so that the results can lead to better products to humans. This mirror how Black people and other marginalized people was experimented for the “progress” of the medical field.

Characters A beloved character returns in a later instalment, past their prime with their potential death being teased throughout to stress the audience

Thumbnail
gallery
47 Upvotes

Leon in RE9: Requiem - After not being a protagonist for 14 years (excluding remakes), Leon returns as a playable character in RE9 as a man nearing his fifties. However, he is inflicted with a virus that is quickly killing him, with even the gameplay being affected by him getting weaker over time, so a good portion of the story is spent teasing his potential death.

Kiryu in LAD: Infinite Wealth - The last game Kiryu has been a protagonist of (excluding a game essentially promoting his return in this game) was 8 years ago, where he was largely implied to have retired. He returns as a protagonist in this game while being in his fifties. He is also revealed to have late stage cancer and spends essentially the entire game righting his wrongs throughout his life to repent before his death.

Joseph in JJBA Diamond is Unbreakable - The implication of death isn’t as prominent in this case, but Joseph returns here after being a protagonist six years ago, or sixty years ago in the story. He is now senile and is being targeted by a hidden enemy who seeks to kill him so he can’t use his power to identify him.

Lore [Mixed Trope] Adaption makes change that gets put into the source material

Thumbnail
gallery
4.9k Upvotes

[Liked Example]: Kano (Mortal Kombat). In the original Mortal Kombat game, Kano was depicted as a bald Japanese-American, lacking most of his well known personality. In the movie, actor Trevor Goodard instead portrayed Kano as a scruffy haired English guy with a cockney accent. After the movie became popular and wildly successful, this version of Kano was put into the game as a scruffy haired Australian with an Australian accent.

[Disliked Example]: Ms. Marvel, the new Mutant.

So back in 2014 when Ms. Marvel was created, the mutants were on a decline. Marvel was trying to use them less, owing to Fox having the movie rights for x-men. In the x-men's place, Marvel made the Inhumans the discount mutant, having their terragenesis mist give people powers, like Moon Girl and Kamala Khan.

The TV show adaptation, owing to neither of these groups having been put into the main mcu, went ahead and made her a mutant. Marvel then wanted to put that into the main MCU, while also keeping the characters history.

In 2022's Amazing Spiderman run (written by Zeb Wells), Kamala Khan is violently murdered, reveals her secret identity to Spider-Man, and dies surrounded by basically strangers. A few months later she's resurrected, where it's revealed that she's been an inhuman mutant hybrid the whole time, leading her to join mutant teams and hang out with mutants.

I dislike this change, because it reduces Kamala's unique identity, and traps her in the background cast of the x-men, where 99% of mutant characters are stuck.
