Discussion I miss how characters use to be
Does anyone else kinda miss the way TFD was when it started? I still like the game it's currently my most played game. The only game that could've been close to the amount of hours I've put into this is probably For Honor. Although I won't lie it feels like it's lost it's "identity" in a sense. I'm mostly talking about characters and how their roles used to matter, but it feels like descendants are all just being made, or at least trying to be made into power houses.
When the game first dropped characters felt like they had rolls in team set ups like any other looter shooter:
- Lepics/,Viessa were elemental damage dealers you'd bring for specific encounters
-Ajax would be the teams defense when you needed protection to get a teammate up
-Yujin was the medic keeping members from going down in the first place, or getting people to faster than anyone else
-Enzo resupplied the teams ammo
-Gley was raw damage
Then there were more niche options that you'd experiment with to make a play style you'd prefer like:
-Kyle
-Blair
-Freyna
-Valby
While yeah Ajax, Yujin, Enzo can still do what they do it hardly feels like they have jobs because most mobs and bosses are getting atomized by 1-3 other people that are doing 1,000,000,000 and killing everything before they even walk in a room. Plus some of the descendants (excluding Viessa,Gley, and Valby) barely if at all keep up in this massive damage ecosystem. It used to feel like your character had something to do to offer to your team, or playing solo was you testing your own skills and understanding of your descendant. Now the devs either turn descendants into death incarnate, or they attempt to make them 1 person armies only to still not be able to keep up or at least not be as good in terms of damage with the ones that are (looking at the recent Freyna and every male descendant). I still like the game, and this isn't trying to be a "The game is dead", kind of post, but I kinda wish we weren't in this "everything needs to hit hard to be viable.
