No one compares to the OG’s when it comes to reading a Dark Tower book say thank ya, and I wasn’t expecting Patton to be on the same level, and I know technically this isn’t a Dark Tower book, but Oswalt was disappointing. I could overlook the pronunciation of Takuro Spirit (Takeero?! What?). Then he started saying kashoomy 😑

Hello fellow constant readers! My wife is starting her journey to the Tower! I want to make her journey really fulfilling and don't want to just lead her through just straight through like I did. Here's my current proposed order
Gunslinger
Drawing of The Three
The Stand
The Wastelands
Talisman
Wizard and Glass
Wind Through Keyhole
Wolves of The Callah
The Institute(always seemed to mirror the breakers to me)
Blackhouse
Song of Susanah
Insomnia
Dark Tower
Fairy Tale
Other Worlds Than These
My goal is to get what is most heavy in complimentary lore to tower or stuff that helps to add to the experience. I'd still call myself milling at best in the lore and these are books I thought would help spice things up and answer some questions without spoiling anything. Thankee. Long Days and Pleasant Nights

I mean, it's a structure around which all existence revolves, and its appearance is completely subjective depending on the world in which it exists: in the Mid-World, it's a tower made of black rocks. In other worlds, it's a rose, a dog, or a tiger. Considering Roland and his loop, could the Dark Tower in its true form be the very meaning of life, and its appearance change precisely because it is subjective? Roland found a dark tower and stopped in an eternal loop searching for it, precisely because his purpose in life was to find the Tower; if he had let that go, perhaps what he would have found there would have been different. Which could also very well be the message King wants to convey with the books: life is a journey in which we seek meaning for ourselves.
I also think that the Tower could be a dog if it connects to this, since there are certain people who love to have fun with their pets, as well as people who care for animals as their reason for living, and the dog would represent the meaning of life for these people.

I've always heard this in my head when Roland faced Jonas in Wizard and Glass.

I finished my first journey to the tower and as seems to be the custom here I thought I would share. I absolutely loved the series, it's the first book series I have completed since the Abhorsen trilogy 15 years ago (I am aware some new books have been released since..)
This was my reading order:
The Gunslinger (Revised)
The Drawing of the Three
The Wastelands
Wizard And Glass
The Wind Through the Keyhole
Wolves of the Calla
Song Of Suzannah
The Little Sisters of Eluria
The Dark Tower.
Other than these the only other SK I have read is Carrie, The Shining, The Dead Zone, The Long Walk and Misery.
I know everyone has their own theory as to what Happens to Suzanna, My own theory is that she did not die. A door has never led to death, nor has it been hinted that they could. She just went to some other world.
I am not sure what Stephen King Novel I am going to read next. I have the Talisman Trilogy, Hearts in Atlantis, Salems lot, Insomnia and a few others in my To be read pile but I might take a break and read some Jeff Vandermeer first.
Edited to add, How could I forget to mention, My favorite book of the series was The Wastelands. Probably one of my favorite books ever too.

‘Susannah realized, with dawning bitterness, that she could now give the perfect definition of a ka-mai: one who has been given hope but no choices.”
