Being unable to set a speed and just chill in a lane is very annoying, Tesla, please just give us cruise control in FSD so we can choose our speed, its crazy that we have to pull over, put the car in park to get cruise control, the pre set modes zig zag all over the FWY, standard drives like a teenager changing lanes for no reason chill is to slow and hurry will get you a ticket, I like to go 74 in a 70 and just stay at that speed for 50 miles but FSD says NO

Have never encountered this before- FSD was going to make one of it’s patented unnecessary lane changes so I clicked the blinker off (once), then it throws me a curveball and changes lanes in the other direction! Lady behind me wasn’t thrilled.

Despite what your favorite Tesla influencer will always say every update, this is a clear regression from 14.1 lite I was on previously. On one 7mi drive, it went the wrong direction in a one-way road, it held up traffic three times to make lane changes, switched lanes in an intersection, and somehow worse navigation. I’m not sure what TeslaAI is smoking but they’re clearly panicking with AI3 customers.

I’ve had every single FSD update since 14.2.2.5 and to this day it still freaks out at these road lines and swerves out of its way. It actually only does it at this specific spot but nowhere else

I have been using the most recent versions (not the latest that is being pushed on HW4). My longest streak is just under 200 miles. I usually am extra alert or disengage in parking lots, construction zones, and familiar roads where FSD messes up every time on a fairly busy road (leaving my home, FSD drives in the bike lane for about a quarter of a mile before my turn).
When traffic is pretty heavy, I disengage if it starts changing lanes just to get one car ahead while cutting cars off.l; if it’s behaving and I have picked the right speed profile (usually standard in traffic) I let it go.
I do have apprehension when using FSD where shadow on the road can affect it. And I fear the time it slams on the brakes for something FSD thinks is needed but is hallucinating. and causes injury to someone. I have had it try to do this and have used the accelerator to bypass it.
What other things do you think about when using FSD?

Ever since 14.3.8 it’s been pretty trash.

Action starts at 7 seconds. Gemini estimated I would have hit the Sonata at -35mph at normal human reaction time between the car moving and my foot hitting the brake.
Maybe nobody would have been hurt, but good chance both cars would be totaled. The other driver seemed very grateful.

The reason popup after taking over from FSD is annoying. I end up tapping random options just to dismiss it—not giving accurate feedback.
Please let us disable the automatic prompt while keeping voluntary reporting available. I don’t know how Tesla uses these answers, but meaningless selections could add noise instead of helping improve FSD.
Anyone else doing this? Would you use an opt-out?

Has one seen or has this ever happened?
Picture cruising down the freeway, all lanes occupied by an FSD Fleet.

This happened on 14.3.10 today. A friend of mine had an insanely dangerous situation where it seems like FSD mistook the shadow of a transport truck and dropped from 100km/h (60mph) to 60 (37km/h) in an instant as soon as the car came up beside it.
Thankfully the person behind him was able to slow down in time, but seems like a very critical error. Would a combination of Cameras + LiDAR have prevented this?

Does anyone else see this problem? My early 26 Model Y Premium AWD running 14.3.10 occasionally, at unpredictable times, stops at a light, or at a stop sign at an intersection, and just won’t start up again until I press the go pedal. The other day on Pacific Coast Highway it stopped at a red light behind another car. The light turned green, the car in front took off as it should, and my car just sat there until I goosed it, several seconds worth. I also have a HW4 Model 3 with the same FSD version that never exhibits this problem. Most of the time the car drives along as it should, but way too often it does this weird stopping thing. Los Angeles area. Cameras are clean and calibrated (I already tried the calibration route).

Driving on FSD, but still paying attention to the road and I didn't even see him until after the car had already braked for him.
Note that the matrix headlights picked the worst time to dim in this situation.

Consistently dropping down to 64 mph on Standard and then going 75 mph on Hurry is absolute insanity. Almost makes it unusable.

I needed to take a right turn to the highway ramp. There was about a half-mile backup to enter, and FSD (standard mode) just moved to the left lane, skipped the entire line, and casually force-merged right before the ramp.
I pressed the Grok button and asked why FSD made this decision, and it replied that it prioritizes my timing over others. I was a little surprised that in the answer, it recognized that it's not a socially appropriate move, but did it anyway.

Is there a place to find out the changes in the FSD minor versions. .10 .11 .12, etc
to me it always seem like the same release notes

I have experienced FSD doing the “human” thing to go around cars making a turn but was surprised to see Waymo this double line crossing. FSD did notice as seen in the video and there was a tiny bit of hesitation as it tried to figure out the best evasion but the end results was a success. This post is not meant as a dig against Waymo as FSD isn’t flawless but just wanted to share the moment the self driving cars almost became battle bots.

I’m patiently awaiting my model y delivery, supposed to be sometime in November. I did 2 test drives before ordering but didn’t really get to play with the settings and everything and was just curious. Does FSD let you pick a different route or does it always pick the fastest one? My drive to work has 2 different routes I take, one is freeway and the other is a much more enjoyable and usually less traffic but takes a couple minutes longer. Will I be able to pick the longer way or will I have to just start driving that way until it shows as the fastest route?

Basically, I got a new Tesla model Y only because of FSD. FSD really lived up to my expectations.
After one year I can say that closing a 0.6% gap will be the hardest engineering challenge.
The way I use FSD: when I need to, I interrupt it even for a few seconds and start it over, using turn signal and acceleration all the time to override behavior, switching modes actively when needed. Most of my FSD driving is in Chill mode.
FSD streak is a gamification of driving which is dangerous so I refuse to push my streak. If I tried I probably can go over 1k.
Things I learned: in emergency situation as a human at 65mph I would not be able to react appropriately in time so mentally I am preparing to allow car to take control to the end (I am not sure how I will react in a real situation), when it comes to parking and close situations I keep foot on break all the time, paying attention is extremely important especially on rural narrow roads.
I have zero FSD miles in mad max or Hurry Mode. Despite my trust in FSD I don’t want to bob and weave in traffic mainly due to other drivers and higher likelihood of collision from human drivers.
Biggest issue: driving modes on highways make sense from a behavioral standpoint as far as lane switching but make zero sense when it comes to speed. Examples: chill mode on high way at 55mph speed limit will go at 57. 57 is too slow, after switching to standard ot will go up to 65 or 71 which is too fast on that highway - speeding ticket is guaranteed. On the other hand driving in chill mode on a highway with a speed limit of 65 is perfectly fine for me.
In a past year I probably drove regular car less than 100 miles and every time I had to do it I felt naked. It’s a feeling of missing the sensor bubble around me. I really have to force “head on a swivel” behavior while driving compared to Tesla where I became more casual.
Final note: even with 99.4% I must say FSD is not for everyone. I have seen a lot of stories of elderly drivers embarrassing FSD which is great but in case of my parents I will hesitate, I will have to spend significant time training them. I feel like the majority of people need some sort of training.
For me personally, the Tesla Y is not the best build car or the best-looking car (best value car for what it has to offer) but in order for me to switch to other manufacturers, they will have to develop better FSD which is in my opinion will be very hard. At this point I cannot imagine myself driving again.
