My Setup / New Synth Day Worth the wait! 😁
Got this TR-1000 open box model for only on sweetwater for a STEAL and it's perfectly mint!
I have a massive learning curve ahead of me but I'm excited to dive into it.

I spent the last year building my dream software synth. I’m really proud of it and I think it’s really great, and unique. I have exclusively used it to make all my music in that time because I genuinely love the workflow and the sounds I get from it.
But now, when I’m so near to release, it seems like all anyone is talking about is how vibe coded apps have destroyed the market and there’s no hope of turning a profit or even getting your work any attention. People have already accused me of using AI in my art & music so I’m sure the same thing will happen with this.
Of course I don’t feel like I wasted my time since I find the synth so inspiring, but I can’t help but feel really discouraged. I’m stuck in a dead end job and I realistically can’t just give this synth away for free after all the work I’ve put in.
It’s extra discouraging because I finally pivoted out of pursuing music as a career path a few years ago because it felt basically impossible to make any meaningful money in it. It just seems like there’s no way forward, all the doors are closing. Not sure why I’m even posting this. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or has any insight.

Edited original post as I’m sorting through the issue.
Just picked up a used Summit from a reputable music store. There seems to be an issue with the arp. When I play a chord all is good for a few seconds and then it seems to glitch out. It does not do this on all arp patches, but does on many patches.
Before I call the store asking for a refund I’m wondering if I’m missing something obvious like a setting I don’t know about?
It does this running through an external instrument in logic and stand alone not attached to a DAW.
After a bit of fiddling I realized it was doing this only when connected through an external instrument (though I could have sworn it did it running independently as well-just can’t replicate that now).
It seems it’s getting stuck in a kind of midi feedback loop. What’s odd is I do not have this problem with my Arturia minifreak set up
Exactly the same way.
It also does it when I’m recording the midi track in and also on playback. I though maybe it was receiving midi from the keyboard and the external instrument causing the problem. But no, it just can’t handle the midi being sent to the internal arp.
Does anyone else running a Summit through logic have this issue?

hey! wondering if anyone might know who i'm talking about. i don't remember unfollowing her so she might've deleted her account?
she makes these diy synths inside of old, vintage, and i think wooden boxes, often with religious ornaments. or it might've been more brutalist type stuff.
i'm pretty sure she was middle eastern, she didn't really advertise her stuff a lot, just posted synths with the price in the description, don't think she even had a website. she didn't only do synths, i think she also released music
tysm!

a snapshot of my live rig for a little weekend tour. Octatrack, Rytm, DSI Tetra, and Korg Multi/Poly (just out of frame, handling the main melody)

As title, what's the most resonant synth you can think of?

Hi, so i want to get into groove boxes/synths i'm a complete noob to music making, those two seems like a good fit for beginners and they're around 200€.
I'm into gabber/hardcore, industrial hardtechno, hardgroove/techno and hypertrance.
So i'm thinking Model : Samples might be better because i can just put samples of each genres and play with it rather than making it from scratch on the cycles ? Not sure

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post but it seems indirectly pertinent to the whole creativity in the face of AI debate so I'll probably post this in a few different music subs and see where it sticks.
Think about the question and it's implications for a second - if you were to wake up tomorrow in a world where every single human had disappeared and you were the only one left on Earth, would you still make music? That means:
-No more gigs
-No more record sales
-No downloads
-No streams
-Not a single acknowledgement that you make music from another person ever again. No likes, no upvotes, no supportive comments
-No other musicians on earth making music for you to be inspired by or to compare yourself to, extant music only foras long as you are able to listen to it
-Nobody else other than you to ever listen to or even aknowledge your music in any way or context ever again
Just you and the slowly dying synths with nobody fix them when they start going wrong.
Would you still do it?
I would, I know I would, I'd probably be grateful that I've finally got enough time to work on it to my hearts content
But it's easy for me to say that as someone who doesn't have a SoundCloud or Bandcamp, doesn't sell music, doesn't play gigs (and has no real desire for any of these things), somebody who is just in love with the process enough to have spent thousands on gear over the years and churn the odd tape out, whose identity or more importantly ability to make living isn't tied to music at all.
What about you?

My current setup is drumlogue, monologue and volca bass. I just found decent deal for Novation circuit tracks and im considering taking it.
How it can help my setup and improve my workflow?
Ive never used sequencer before and dont know the use of these things.
Thanks!

The joke about noise shows having tiny tables is true. Got invited to join a noise bill at a record store and here is the set I put together. Roland p6 handles silences between tunes.

A little jam I did a while ago, I enjoy using the SQ-1 but it frustrates me sometimes. The Behringer BCR32 has turned my head as a cheap sequencer for the analogue/patchable stuff I have.

I'm still somewhat new at synth (1 year strong!) but I mostly use my Prophet Rev2 to make beautiful sounds (Joanna Newsom is my biggest musical inspiration). I've been going through a blues kick lately and I'm trying to make just dirtier, harsher, muddier patches and just not making any progress with it. Are there any general rules you follow for making harsher sounds?

Also I'm thinking I'd link it up with the Microfreak or Minilogue XD in the distant future, any thoughts or other recommendations for link ups with the 707?

[mods, sorry if theres any weird double posting - think i deleted the other]
I’m a guitarist looking at my first dedicated hardware synth. I already have a Roland Juno-Gi for keyboard practice, and this would be for playing chords, exploring sound design, recording, and having fun at home. Rush, Van Halen, Blade Runer, dark wave, 80s anything... all big passions.
I initially leaned toward a used OB-6 with the “buy once, cry once” mindset, but the TEO-5’s lower price has me considering both more seriously.
Size and accessibility matter to me too. I’d like something I can use at my desk or move into another room, while keeping the Juno available for practice. But I’m trying to weigh that convenience against any meaningful differences in sound and playing experience.
The more I learn about the TEO, the less clear it is that this is simply a cheaper-versus-premium comparison. It has different modulation and oscillator capabilities, and I’ve heard some owners prefer its effects or describe its voicing as more vintage. I understand both have a Vintage feature, with the OB-6’s added through firmware.
Coming from guitar, I’m comfortable with some redundancy. My amps cover overlapping ground, but their voicing, feel, and response make them feel like different instruments and inspire different playing. I don’t need two synths to have completely separate capabilities to justify both. I’m wondering whether that same distinction exists between these two.
For people who have spent time with both:
Would you recommend either as a first synth? And if someone started with a TEO-5, would an OB-6 later add a worthwhile new personality—or would an OB-X8 be the more meaningful addition?
Edit: to say thanks to all the commenters. Great responses from a subreddit I haven't been engaged with much. Several thoughtful answers.
Gonna review the finances and snag a TEO-5!

Sometimes I just want to jam, I don't wanna look at a screen, I want one knob per function, and being able to make a whole little track live on the same device on my couch and zone out.
It can be cheap or expensive, what is yours ?

I'm wondering whether a Moog pairing of Subharmonicon + Labyrinth would work well with a Roland TR-8S. Does anyone have experience of pairing these together? I can imagine that the TR-8S could work as a clock, guiding the sequencers of the Moogs. But would this defeat the purpose of the Moogs? Or complement by adding more predictable (controllable) drums? I have a TR-8S, and I'm tempted by the experimental possibilities of the Moogs. Anyone with experience of these three machines together?
