I tried to buy the Steam Controller on launch day, but well... you all know what happened. Everything sold out in just 30 minutes! 😂

So I joined the reservation queue and waited. Five months went by, and I'd honestly completely forgotten about it.

Then, literally ONE DAY after my birthday, I got the email saying I could finally complete my purchase!

I couldn't believe the timing. What are the odds?! It's like Steam decided to send me the perfect birthday present! 🎁

And to make things even better, just 3 days later, the package was already at my door!

I don’t have a video unfortunately, but I randomly tried throwing my controller and it made a MEEOOOWW noise instead of the wilhelm scream! Must’ve been a new update :) I think I’m the first to document this?? Pretty cool either way.

Maybe someone can explain this properly to me. I use my steam controller on both my beefy gaming PC and on my power saving Steam Machine.

For some reason I seem to be unable to set it up in a way that the controller works fine with both devices without having to pair it first, basically losing the connection with the first device again, having to redo it the next time around.

I know I can use the puck for PC and the SM has its own internal puck. But how to make it so the right device is targeted. I've read about the Steam button + L1 + A and Steam button + R1 + A, but that does not seem to work properly.

Can somebody explain the setup step by step, who has the same use case and made it work?

So i was using steam controller, and i changed language from english to russian. By using the language change button(Globe or earth shape), and it vanished, and i cant change it back. Is there any hotkey in virtual keyboard to change language? Help please

I’ve been testing out pyrowave on my deck and iPhone. The Steam Deck is nowhere near as good as the iPhone version, which has me wanting a phone mount for the steam controller when I’m not home. I’m aware of the brand mechanism but heard mixed reviews on them especially with the phone almost too close to the controller.

Anyone have any luck with finding aftermarket no-slip thumb grips for the controller? I’ve discovered that Steam Deck’s thumb sticks are slightly smaller than the Steam controller’s, hence why my dbrand grips didn’t work.

There are a couple “compatible” options out there (JSAUX, Gosknor) but they all look like smooth (i.e. not grippy!), loose silicone molds.

I've been searching all over to see about an aftermarket housing for the original steam controller. It's just too fat where you hold on, otherwise I love this thing. Any help is appreciated!

but no matter what i do i cannot get it to pair to anything i the L1+A slot. The "default" R1+A slot is able to pair to both the machine and the puck. The L1+A plays the sound and the white light, but ignores all connection attempts completely before switching back to the R1+A.

The controller also sometimes just turns itself back on immediately after being turned off.

anyone encountered this? is there a way to factory reset the controller?

Updated controller through steam deck and said it was completed, but now my controller shows this orange light and won't respond to any input I make. I already put in an inquiry with Valve but don't know how long that's going to take. Is there anything that I can do on my end?
