No way, a program that basically does nothing, runs faster than a fucking behemoth of features?

Steam is a games store, and library, with reviews from users and creators, built in mod support, built in streaming. Built-in entire god damn social network with dedicated discussion forums for each game, community hub, communication platform for developers, social features with everything from chatting, group chatting, video streaming, voice chat, ad choc game invites/joining, guides... I probably forgot like 100 features.

Meanwhile Epic Games Store, which launched 8 years ago still does not support a fucking cart, so you can check out more than one product at a time. Navigating the store, checking out various DLCs for one game is so fucking annoying that I remember getting a free game on Epic, playing it and liking enough that I considered to buy a DLC... but it was so ass to use, I just went to Steam and purchase it again just to get the DLC there, it had a discount too.

The level of detachment from reality it's just pissing me off. Like, Pepsi can poke fun at Coke, they're basically the same thing, despite Coke being the "bigger brand". If Pepsi was selling fucking dirty pot hole water in a can an trying to compare themselves to Coke, that's kind of how EGS taking shots at Steam sounds like.

EGS has a cart. I know the bar is low but it does.

Yeah, I was about to say the same. Like, come on dawg, it absolutely has a cart. And that's mainly, the only concrete bad thing he had to say, and it was false...

Sure, it's not Steam but every now and then, I buy something on Epic too. Competition breeds innovation. Lack of competition breeds monopoly. Monopoly is never good, unless you're playing the Monopoly board game.

Above all else, just be fair dude, you don't have to lie to make it obvious that Steam is better, lol.

It took them 3 years to add a cart lmao, with how little people actually use it I'm not surprised some aren't up to speed.

It took valve 5 years (2003 to 2008)

Correct, now name 1 (one) digital videogame storefront Steam competed with in 2008 that HAD a functioning shopping cart.

I dunno man, I bought more than a couple games on Epic, to support them, plus, they were cheaper than Steam because discounts.

Alan Wake 2, because it's exclusive, God of War remake and a couple more.

You know, not everyone needs gaming profiles and achivements and streaming capabilities and etc. We just want good games bro. Sure, Steam is king but let's stop beating down on lesser competitors. Nobody should want monopoly on something

Nobody is beating down on it for being competition. Theyre laughing at it trying to compare apples to oranges and suggest its anywhere similar in quality. They should actually make their product better if the want to compete.

Speaking on the subject of this post, yeah, it's pathetic and deserves to be bashed. Absolutely delusional, whoever THOUGHT of even posting that.

But my reply was to a guy bashing Epic for not having a cart which is a straight up lie.

Yes let's support exclusive behaviour!

u/sakaixjin 14h ago

You don't even know why it's exclusive and you're being an insufferable smartass.

The game is exclusive to Epic Games Store because Epic FUNDED the development of Alan Wake 2. 100% FUNDED BY EPIC.

Can you like, shut your blabbering, seeing that you're absolutely clueless and just wanna be edgy on the hate bandwagon?

u/Weekly-Penalty-955 12h ago

No I can't do that

Clearly

Valve has exclusives on steam too though.

But the fact that Epic funds game developement so we can get gamee is much better than Valve's "hire a company only to put their project on hold" or "Barely update the games they make millions and billions off of"

There can be consumer positive monopolies.
