Today we honor Buck knifes with the model 373. This is a recently acquired hardware grab (had a coupon). And I believe I'm going to visit their facility soon. Back up for the stockman is a sugar house flying goddess (as close as i could get to a buck 110)

I figured I ought to share what I’m actually carrying today as well 😂

If you haven’t checked out u/ashwinearl, the man makes a mighty fine knife. I had the joy of being able to check these two out, and they’re absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to get one in the future.

I know we're halfway through October, but in honor of Stocktober, I've had this little dude in my pocket just about every day. Kinda smitten with the little thing, gotta admit. Shown with a Victorinox Classic for scale.
It was in like new condition when I bought it a couple of years ago and I debated keeping it that way, but it was so small and cute and convenient to carry that I put it to use instead. No regrets.

Here’s one that deserves a little time in the spotlight.
An extraordinary early Case XX 6250 Sunfish, believed to date to 1940–1949, bearing the CASE XX tang stamp without a pattern number. Acquired from a private collection, with a single collector-owner preceding me.
What makes this particular example so special is the remarkable preservation of its original character. Both blades retain what appear to be their factory edges, with exceptionally full profiles and that unmistakable gator-strength walk and talk these old Sunfish are famous for.
But the bone is the real showstopper.
The show side carries a gorgeous red-honey coloration, transitioning from warm golden amber into deep reddish-brown jigging. The pile side displays a richer, more saturated red, with remarkable depth and contrast. Most impressive is the virtually uninterrupted topography of the jigged bone, retaining the pronounced peaks, valleys, and intricate character that make these early Case handles so desirable.
The combination of blade preservation, mechanical strength, deeply figured bone, and nearly eight decades of history makes this an exceptional survivor.
For me, this is what collecting vintage Case knives is all about. Not simply finding an uncommon pattern, but finding an example that still displays so much of the craftsmanship and character that made these knives legendary.
A genuine grail piece, and one I’m exceptionally proud to have in my collection.
Shot on my iPhone in diffused, outdoor evening light.
