ONGOING ISSUES - Please read our Group Rules before posting / commenting

69 Upvotes

We are getting way too many rule violations, resulting in posts / comments being removed and (in some cases) users banned. Before you ever post or comment in r/Shopify please read the group rules (a big THANK YOU to our members who regularly report such posts/comments for rule violations - they help more than you know).

All users must have an account age of 30 days, a minimum of 20 comment karma, and a minimum of 10 post karma (not overall karma). all 3 conditions must be met. Also, your post must be specific to the Shopify platform. Any post that is not Shopify-specific should be posted to other ecom-related groups.

A few quick notes on what you cannot do here (because these are the most commonly violated rules) - most of these should be common sense to veteran reddit users and they are shared with a majority of other such groups -

  • Do not post a store for a review (in any way - this means 'why am I not getting sales?', or 'why such low conversions?' posts). Please use r/ecommerce or r/ReviewMyShopify groups for this

  • No AI or Suspected AI Slop: Obvious or suspected AI content is not welcome here. Violations from lower-karma accounts with little contribution history in this sub may result in a ban. This will be at the sole discretion of the group moderators.

  • Do not promote your app, offer, service, site, perform app research, ask about 'pain points' or anything else related to Shopify services, apps, or development (r/ShopifyDev or r/ShopifyAppDev are good groups for that), even if 'free'.

  • Do not solicit personal contact with a user of this group in any way and for any reason (DM request, sending soliciting DMs, Contact Me, Let's Connect, etc). This includes responding to calls for help by asking for DM (such posts will also be removed). Share all helpful information in the thread so that everyone reading will benefit, and to remove the appearance of self-promotion. This is the fastest guaranteed way to get your account banned from this group.

Other rules certainly apply to the group, but these 3 are seeing many removals and account bans every day. The group is here to help Shopify users. It is not a focus group, nor is it here opportunists to take advantage of those who may be new to the group.

Lastly, remember that the internet gives the cover of anonymity to all users; Many users here are legit and only intend to help, but many others have selfish motives. Never trust a random stranger on the internet, and certainly never give anyone your passwords or financial information for services without thoroughly checking them out first. The sad reality is that scammers abound in groups like this - make every effort to protect yourself.

Moderators are always open to rule suggestions or changes - it is your group, just message us!

Shopify Announcement Shopify New Browser Requirement* Unable to access store: 10/15

5 Upvotes

Greeting fellow store owners,

I’m wondering if anyone else woke up today to find themselves completely unable to log into their Shopify desktop admin.

I’ve been running my stores perfectly fine for over 6 years years on a 2010 MacBook running macOS 10.13 High Sierra. I was literally on my desktop dashboard just a few days ago with no issues.

But today, I suddenly can't get in at all.
When I try to load the login page, it completely fails, throws a browser error code, (TypeError: Promise.withResolvers is not a function”) and tells me my browser is too old or unsupported.

Because I'm on High Sierra, I cannot update Google Chrome or Safari any further. I even tried downloading Brave, but my system can't run the modern version.
After doing some digging, it looks like Shopify pushed a major backend update to their login code within the last 24 hours that completely drops support for legacy browsers.

Is anyone else with an older Mac (pre-2017) experiencing this sudden lockout today? Are you seeing the same browser errors?

it seems like it was flagged for a VPN?

  • Characteristics of this order are similar to fraudulent orders observed in the past
  • Shipping address is 346 miles from location of IP address
  • A high risk internet connection (web proxy) was used to place the order
  • Location of IP address used to place the order isn't available
  • Card Verification Value (CVV) is correct
  • Billing street address matches credit card's registered address
  • Billing address ZIP or postal code matches the credit card's registered address
  • There was 1 payment attempt
  • Payment was made with 1 credit card

Shopify General Discussion How to make the Orders rows light/dark grey again

2 Upvotes

Hey so the recent update made it look like all order rows are the same colour - or to me at least - which, if nothing else, seems that accessibility slipped backwards. Personally, I've had an extremely hard time looking at my orders screen this last week, and find myself squinting to try to discern what is going on.

Anyway, long story short I thought I'd knock up some quick CSS to bring this back, and share it with whomever else might benefit from it.

You can apply it using any browser extension you prefer, but personally I use Stylus for things like this. Here's the code, and a screenshot of the resulting view. Enjoy!

/* Archived rows: order number is rendered with the "_Tertiary_" (subdued) text class */
  .Polaris-Table-TableRow:has([data-primary-link] [class*="_Tertiary_"]) {
    --pc-table-row-background: #f0f0f0;
  }
  .Polaris-Table-TableRow:has([data-primary-link] [class*="_Tertiary_"]):hover {
    --pc-table-row-background: #e4e4e4;
  }

  /* Rows use display:contents, so paint the cells too (covers the sticky checkbox/order columns) */
  .Polaris-Table-TableRow:has([data-primary-link] [class*="_Tertiary_"]) > [role="cell"] {
    background: var(--pc-table-row-background) !important;
  }

Edit: Turns out images aren't allowed. Here: https://plati.ma/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/ShopifyPreview-scaled.jpg

Shopify General Discussion 'Slopify'.

104 Upvotes

That's how we refer to them internally now. My team are just thoroughly frustrated by the new interface, and more generally by the collection of UI updates from the past 6 months. Everything seems to require 1 or 2 more clicks than before. That adds up fast. The general feeling is that these changes are being implemented by a front-end team that doesn't eat their own dog feed.

It's not like they've even leaned into a new design philosophy, which I could excuse - to us it seems like a design change for the sake of doing a design change. Idle thumbs...

Shopify General Discussion How do I scale my store?

• Upvotes

I am a whitelabel store and I’m finding it hard to scale up. I think my two issues are traffic and the fact that I’m selling other brands products so other sites are the first choice.
Ads are a light switch, and my SEO is really just fighting for brand name + sale. Is this just me pigeonholing myself or is there an avenue I’m not seeing?
Shopify is great for first time buyers but I’m having a hard time getting people to come back. I’ve spent a lot of time optimizing things like performance/UX but it feels like I’ve hit a ceiling.
Any tips?

Checkout Who else is currently getting hammered by fake checkouts?

Seems after a quiet few weeks, it's my turn to get absolutely hammered by card testing bots generating hundreds of abandoned carts I'm going to have to exclude from my flows and analytics again.

Shopify General Discussion I got tired of doing my Shopify/Etsy/Square books by hand so I built a bot that does it. Found $3,500 in HST I’d been handling wrong.

0 Upvotes

Small Canadian seller here (portable hygiene product, nothing fancy). Day job is in construction, so bookkeeping has always been the thing I do at 11pm on a Sunday with a coffee and a lot of regret.

The problem was never “enter the sales.” It was reconciling. Shopify pays out in lumps that don’t match any day’s sales, Square takes its fee before it hits the bank, Etsy collects HST for me on some orders and not others, and refunds show up in a different month than the sale. By tax time I had three spreadsheets that disagreed with each other and a bank statement that agreed with none of them.

A few months ago I spent some time wiring up the APIs for all three (had to build a little private Shopify app for that part) and got my bot at it to pull everything into one Google Sheet: every order, every fee, every refund, tax collected by province, and the payouts matched against the bank. Then it builds a basic P&L / balance sheet tab and an HST summary I can hand straight to my accountant.

Took about 15 hours a month off my plate and my accountant said it was the cleanest year-end package I’ve sent him, which, low bar, but still.

A couple of people in my maker-market circle asked if I’d run theirs. I’m thinking about it, mostly because I want to see if it holds up on a store that isn’t mine.

So two questions for people here:

  1. What’s the thing in your books that you know is wrong but haven’t had the energy to fix?
  2. If someone offered to reconcile one quarter for you for basically nothing, read-only API access, numbers stay in your own Drive — would you actually let them, or does that feel too sketchy no matter what?

Not selling anything in this post, I’m trying to figure out if this is a me problem or an everyone problem. Happy to answer questions about the setup.

Marketing new store, 95% bounce rate on mostly mobile instagram ad traffic. what would you check first?

8 Upvotes

launched a new clothing store about a week ago. made to order streetwear

numbers after 7 days:

- 600+ sessions, almost all mobile, mostly from instagram ads

- 95% bounce rate

- ad clicks cost about $0.22, which i think means low intent traffic

what would i need to check? and does a 95% bounce rate with cheap clicks usually mean the traffic is wrong or the site is wrong? any help would be appreciated.

Shopify General Discussion What did you try to reduce returns on apparel, and what actually moved the number?

0 Upvotes

Building in the fashion e-com space and trying to understand what really works versus what sounds good. Size charts, fit polls, “runs small” notes, virtual try-on apps, exchange-first policies... Which ones did you test and what was the measurable effect, if any? Honest “it did nothing” answers are the most useful.

Shopify General Discussion Custom poster dimensions that automatically calculate the price based on the nearest existing variant

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I run a poster shop on Shopify and currently offer seven different poster sizes:

  • A5
  • A4
  • A3
  • 30 × 40 cm
  • A2
  • 50 × 70 cm
  • 70 × 100 cm

I'd like to let customers enter their own custom dimensions instead of choosing only from these seven predefined sizes.

Ideally, I'd like the functionality to work as follows:

  1. Custom dimensions: Customers can enter their desired width and height in centimetres.
  2. Automatic price calculation: Shopify automatically matches the entered dimensions to the nearest of my seven existing sizes and applies the corresponding price.
  3. Minimum and maximum dimensions: I'd like to set limits for both width and height, so customers cannot enter dimensions that are too small or too large.
  4. Add to cart: The customer can add the poster to their cart just like any other product variant, with the selected dimensions and the correct price displayed.
  5. Order details: The custom dimensions entered by the customer should be saved with the order so I know what they requested.

For example, if a customer enters 32 × 43 cm, the system would determine which of my existing sizes is the closest match and calculate the price accordingly.

My questions:

  • Is this possible with Shopify's native functionality, or would it require custom Liquid/JavaScript code? Can someone explain how to do it, if it's simple enough?

I'd appreciate any suggestions or recommendations from anyone who has implemented something similar.

Thanks!

Apps Best Review app with most visual customizability

8 Upvotes

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for the help! Can anyone recommend a free Shopify review app with actual design flexibility? I tried Loox and Judge.me, but couldn’t customize things like star icons or corner radius without hitting limitations or a paywall (in the case of judge.me lol).

Visual cohesion matters a lot for my store. I’m open to custom CSS, just not another monthly subscription. Any recommendations?

Would love recommendations from anyone who’s made review widgets fit a heavily art-directed storefront without paying for another app.

Orders Preferred delivery dates and pick sheets

1 Upvotes

We're working with a client who offers a food product which can be purchased as a one-off or as a subscription. They would like to give customers the ability to choose from a preferred day of the week for their delivery.

As the product is fresh food, it needs to get picked and prepared that morning to send out.

So what we need is a way for the merchant to see which orders are due to go out for delivery each day based on customer's preferred delivery days.

Has anyone done something like this?

Marketing New to Shopify Collabs (as a Creator) - Looking to connect & a quick question about "Discover Brands"!

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently joined Shopify Collabs as a creator. I'm pretty new to this specific platform and would love to connect with anyone who has experience here. Hoping we can share some tips, strategies, and learn from each other!

Also, I have a quick question: does your Collabs account have the "Discover brands" tab available? I'm trying to figure out if this feature is rolled out to everyone or if it depends on specific account types/regions.

Thanks in advance!

Shopify General Discussion Why Make It Look Worse?

11 Upvotes

Has anyone else seen the "new" admin layout? Specifically the product pages? Now I'm not against change, but at least make it "better"!

If Shopify wants to work on something, how about making it possible to apply MetaFields to Customer Account pages! Why have a MetaField of say "Link" that can be applied to the Customers but it won't actually appear on the customer account page, not without a lot of extra work. How about making the customer account page editable in the Theme???

Or! How about adding the ability to search MetaField data in the "Search & Discovery" app! Other search apps can do that, which you would think is a basic trait of a "Search" app!

Shopify, please stop "fixing" things no one asked for and actually put effort towards fixing the things we actually NEED!

Or am I the only one that is getting frustrated with this?

Checkout Canadian sellers & duty/border fees

10 Upvotes

How accurate is the duty calculator at checkout? I use my own shipping labels, created through Shiptime (border fees/duties paid by me so customer doesn't pay anything extra on receipt). Canadian sellers using this method, are you finding that the amounts calculated and charged to your customer via shopify match that calculated and paid by you via courier or your shipping label provider?

Shipping Shopify + Store UPS account: Customers charged way less than UPS actually bills on international orders

6 Upvotes

Hey, has anybody using their own UPS account with Shopify’s UPS integration for calculated rates found that the customer is sometimes charged way less than UPS actually bills?

For us it’s international only, and only some countries (Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia so far). Domestic and most other countries match the UPS invoice. On the bad ones the customer paid roughly 25-45% less than the UPS invoice total.

Odd part: Shopify’s “Test UPS rates” tool shows the correct, higher price for the same package and address. The checkout and draft orders show the lower, wrong one.

Any idea what could cause that, or has anyone seen the same thing?

Marketing GEO vs SEO for a Shopify store: what’s actually different, and what should you do first?

18 Upvotes

Seeing a lot of “SEO is dead, do GEO now” posts lately. For a store, I think it’s simpler than that. Here’s how our team breaks it down (disclosure: I work at Webrex Studio, a Shopify agency).
SEO = rank in Google’s list and earn the click. Mostly about your own site: keywords, content, speed, backlinks.
AEO = be the one direct answer (snippets, voice). Clear questions and answers, structured data.
GEO = get your brand named inside AI answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or AI Overviews. The term comes from a 2023 research paper on how AI engines pick sources to cite. This one is mostly about your reputation off your site: reviews, roundups, mentions, and facts that match everywhere.
Quick example: ask an AI tool “best refillable deodorant” and it usually names a few brands instead of showing ten links. The brands it names tend to be the ones with reviews and third-party mentions, not just a nice website.
The order I’d go in for a store:
SEO first. AI tools pull from pages that are already trusted, so no foundation means nothing to cite.
AEO next. Add real FAQs on product pages and clean product schema.
GEO after that. Earn reviews and mentions on other sites.
Has anyone actually seen sales from ChatGPT or Perplexity referrals in their Shopify analytics yet? Curious how big it is for you.

Apps Feedback Needed | Inventory Forecasting/Price Testing App | Free Access for Life

0 Upvotes

Unfortunately, the economy put a final nail in the coffin of my Shopify store of 6 years.

So, I took everything I built internally and turned it into an app — now I need to get the snowball rolling, and wanted to give the community free access for life to help with some feedback.

📦 Forecasting — a real engine (ETS + Theta models), not a spreadsheet: learns 2 years of your sales, adjusts for seasonality, daily velocity
📋 Purchase Orders — send POs by email/PDF, track every open order, get late-order reminders + one-tap supplier follow-ups
💰 Price Testing — find where you can charge more
🏷️ Discount Testing — move dead inventory fast
🧾 FIFO Costing — cleaner, more accurate books
📊 Margin Monitoring — visibility into margin on every product/variant

Seriously offering free access for life. This isn't a sales pitch.

There is no catch and this isn't a promotion. I need reviews for SEO and your feedback to get this thing off the ground and restart my life.

Shipping How to see products in a shipping profile?

If I'm in a shipping profile and it says it has 15 products, for example, is there an easy way to see just these 15 products? Right now it shows me everything and I have to scroll through.

Shopify General Discussion Does anyone else HATE the Sales animation on the home screen?

0 Upvotes

I click "Yesterday" to see our sales, the first number is $9,800, then a cute little scroll happens, and suddenly I see $4,322. Someone give me one good reason they added a bait-and-switch feature to make you think your sales are higher than they actually were. Does Shopify think we want to feel let down when the number is lower than what it originally said? And the opposite, it shows a lower number then goes higher. OH YAY! Then lower...AWWW. I find myself looking away from the screen now just so I can look back and see an accurate number. Sorry had to rant. Back to work.
