hey guys! i wanted to share with you this design for a resource well i came up with and just finished building. maybe i'll go a bit deeper on decorations but i think its good for now. ^^

also, these fluid buffers, i designed some time ago while building a fuel power plant. i used infinite nudge mod for those tilted railings and signs and some other small special placement of parts.

what do you think? anything to add? :)

Board Game Blueprint Challenge My Tiny Modern Screw Factory

For the Coffee Cup Challenge, I wanted to squeeze a little bit of the history of my Satisfactory world into one tiny factory. Over the past years or so, I've built everything from enormous industrial complexes to modern train stations, and each project has helped shape my style. So with this little screw factory, I wanted to bring some of those ideas together. The architecture, the exposed machinery, the little details and, of course, a few unnecessarily complicated decisions along the way. It's been a lovely challenge trying to fit all of that into such a small space, and I'm genuinely proud of how it's turned out. A little piece of my Satisfactory world, all in one building.

PS My actual video doesn't go live till 7pm GMT https://youtu.be/G9laJ7bEt68

Discussion This might sound weird because it's just a game, but I hate having to destroy the environment. Advice?

I mean, they did go out of their way to make it immersive and beautiful. (Especially the red forest. So amazing.) So congratulations to the devs, because I don't want to ruin it. But damn if it isn't hard to get things done without hacking a path clear. Does anyone else share my odd sentimentality about virtual plantlife? Do you have ways of respecting it, or do you just say F it and start blasting/buzzing/smothering?

Why does all power require water?

Spent some time looking at a SAM only setup using Sloops and converters after I saw a Short where someone was making nuclear power from SAM only.

Straightforward enough. As long as items don't require fuel or biomass products, anything can be made from SAM.

However, if you aren't able to access fuel products, the only options for power are Coal or Nuclear, both of which require water.

Now you can create water from SAM. The aluminum recipes can sloop into excess water, so can NF Uranium, Batteries and Silica.

However, the best I could get was 2000MW for 45/min water (enough to run one coal plant generating 75MW) or 10.6GW for 240/min water (enough to run on nuclear plant making 2.5GW).

Unless I have missed anything?

Might look at base recipe cost options and see if there is anything interesting there on the low power / high multiplier settings

Copper and Caterium für Caterium Wire is being sourced locally, the Tubes for the Stators are being brought in by truck. I built this entire complex while procrastinating expanding my struggling power grid.

Minor mod use for some signs from RSS and some and easier building like infinite nudge.

The roads are based on the design from @MaddDesign, I just made lots of curved and ramped variants of his base design.

Board Game Blueprint Challenge Inefficiency is the New Efficiency

no idea how many screws this actually produces per minute but it maxes out a tier 5 belt somehow. it takes 6 inputs and is completely self sufficient electricity-wise by using the rocket fuel recipe to fuel a power plant and make compacted coal for the steel. no other byproducts, only a couple minor cases of belt clipping that i managed to hide behind the buildings, and it pretty much fills a mk3 blueprinter to the brim. whaddya think?

after 150 hours i feel done. am i gonna finish phase 6? maybe one day. do i have floating train tracks? i believe theyre like shooting stars. have i done like 6/7 (heh) attempts at making an ionized fuel factory? yes. do any of them work? about 14% of the time. god i love this game. 4/10.

Crash Report I never thought I'd hit the UObject limit, but...

Post image
48 Upvotes

Here we are. I'll be submitting through the crash reporter, obviously, but this caught me by surprise. General guidance suggests no reasonable person would hit the limit under normal conditions. I'm not even really sure what I did that was so egregious, but here goes the explanation.

I was in the Blueprint Designer Mk2 just trying to create a simple catalog of recipe blueprints. What I mean is each recipe gets a blueprint that fits into the designer, so that all connections are correct, inputs and outputs have the appropriate belts, etc. I've largely neglected proper factory design and infrastructure for most of my playthrough, so this is my first concerted attempt at organization.

I had just finished creating a blueprint for every smelter, constructor and foundry recipe that I have unlocked so far, and I was over half way through with the assembler recipes. To speed up the process, I put off the recipes that require different belt speeds until later, so that all I need to do is change recipes, type a new name, pick a new icon and save. I was switching from Mk1 belts to Mk2 belts for a recipe (I think it was the standard Rotor recipe). At first I was swapping the mini-lifts but I changed my mind when I realized that screws would likely need a "top-up", and it would be easier to do this on the bottom belt, rather than the middle one (stacked). So I swapped the mini-lifts back to Mk1 and was swapping the ground-level belts from Mk1 to Mk2 when the crash happened.

As for the state of my current game, it's fairly trivial compared to what I've seen shared on YouTube and in this subreddit. I still have my Phase 1 starter factory I never bothered to tear down that produces a maximum of 2 smart plating per minute and a handful of reinforced iron plates and rotors. I have a Phase 2 factory that sits idle 90% of the time because I built it into a dead-end, but at full-tilt it can produce about 10 smart plating, versatile framework and automated wiring per minute. And Phase 3 didn't get a dedicated factory, as I decided to just hand feed manufacturers via storage containers to complete that phase. I do have an oil factory, though, that is producing about 200 plastic and rubber per minute, as well as about 600 turbofuel per minute feeding 48 fuel generators. Oh, and I forgot to mention my 64 coal generators.

The single biggest construction in my current save is a "sky rail" as I've taken to calling it. I wanted to build a rail network, but I was struggling to route it through all of the ground-based obstacles and elevation shifts, so I opted to start it at the level of my first aluminum factory. I went out close to the map edge, and then made a circle around the entire map. I then added "spurs" inward wherever a stop should be. I think I have about 15 train stations at this point. I also have radar towers set up for full map visibility.

The only other thing that sticks out in my mind as a possibility is that (for the first time in my playthrough) I was collapsing the recipe groups when I was blueprinting. Initially, I was just scrolling to the relevant recipe, but that got annoying as I was doing all of the rebar and nobelisk recipes, so I collapsed everything except that group, and saved that configuration. I know game state can be a weird thing when it comes to persistence so maybe some visibility attribute gets counted in the game state and/or multiplied for each blueprint saved in this way. Otherwise, this was no different than any other game session where I used the blueprint designer.

Anyway, just wanted to share. I always thought it would be impossible to hit the limit lol.

New achievement! UObject Hoarder.

Reward: Crippling anxiety and compulsory saving!

Screenshot Coal Generators Vertically Stacked

My most recent Phase 2 coal generator plant.

There was a post recently referring to “stacked” (lined up) coal generators, and it made me wonder just what vertically stacking coal plants could look like, this is my take!

As it is Phase 2, the goal is to consume exactly 270 coal/min, which can be accomplished with 9 generators @200%. Each group of 3 generators requires 270 water/min, which can be provided by 1 water extractor at 225%.

I think this is one of my most compact coal plants, although it is a bit wasteful — extractors, pumps, and the single miner together use 16% of the 1350 produced power (a premium of 5% more waste than the most efficient approach, using 9 water extractors @84% each).

Cheers!

Discussion Using Iron Alloy and Copper Alloy together

I usually don't see these alternate recipes recommended, but aren't they better than default when used together?

Iron Alloy uses 40 iron and 10 copper ore to make 75 iron ingots, and Copper Alloy uses 50 iron and 50 copper to make 100 copper ingots.

So you could use 10 iron alloy and 2 copper alloy foundries to make 500 iron ore into 750 iron ingot for no loss of copper ingots. Or 10 iron alloy and 7 copper alloy foundries to make 450 copper ore into 700 copper ingots for no loss of iron ingots.

That's at least a 50% increase in the output of one type of ingots!

Does anyone like to use these recipes, or is the added complexity not worth it for you?

I am not the best at making things that look great, but I gave it a shot anyway.

This was a nice break break from my ADHD spagetti. Though I do think my potato PC still doesn't do this game's graphics any justice.

The last photo is just proof of size.

Screenshot OK, Vehicles, what's going wrong here?

Thumbnail

EDIT: Seems fixed now, looks like it was an issue with the outbound tractor path at that station, since the other end isn't glitching, and it was always a tractor with the issue. Unsure of the exact issue beyond that, but it's fixed now at least!

I've been working up to using vehicles in anger... something I avoided because I had heard of shared paths becoming inexplicably jammed.

I was trying to decide whether i wanted a universal loop highway or dedicated lanes for each vehicle type. Not that I'd do this in practice, but I created a small loop circuit to test. started the path with a small segment of universal path at the start of each station, then split out into dedicated paths for each... then put two of each vehicle onto each loop. This all worked fine until this situation happened twice about 10 minutes into running.

Everything's fuelled, and on autopilot, when suddenly, the front tractor in the shot just doesn't want to go. It (and all vehicles) are reporting waiting too long for a junction. But there's nothing blocking.

Enabling/disabling autopilot doesn't do anything, boarding and leaving the vehicle does nothing either.

The only thing that works is disable autopilot, roll forward a foot or two, re-enable and disembark.

In both cases, one vehicle was jammed up behind like it is in this shot... and i have noticed sometimes they don't wait for each other and will clip through to arrive at the station... is that maybe part of the problem? I assume this happens with multiple routes joining the one universal, but if that's the case, i can't see how this wouldn't happen often elsewhere.

Have done nothing else, left it a good 5-10 minutes, and it's still operating, but will probably cease again soon.

Any advice?
