You know, I kind of went hunting for a very specific sunset from the top of the library, but the clouds just never quite cooperated. It was still pretty though!

Question Any tips on making friends here or anywhere I could hang out to make some?

So for some context, I'm freshly 20 years old but haven't had any real friends since probably 9th or 10th grade and I've lived here my whole life. I have high needs autism and severe ocd that makes it really hard to leave the house or even start up conversations with people and am currently between jobs since I was fired because of those two things. I volunteer at homeless shelters and the humane society, I'm a semi frequent concert goer, I love going to any events that pop up around the area, and I love to just hang out at the library but I just cannot for the like of me seem to make any friends and I really don't know what exactly I'm doing wrong. Don't get me wrong I can make acquaintances and people I'm friendly with but it never goes anywhere. I've even tried apps but also can't make any kind of connections and I'm really not sure why, I like to think I'm a friendly guy (I'm at least not intentionally rude or mean to people)

Are there any like community centers or something like that that would make it easier or have people like me there? Or do you guys just have any tips that'd make this whole process easier for me. As much as I do like my alone time it does get really lonely after a bit and my dog and video game voice chat rooms can only do so much (that makes me sound like SUCH a loser I'm aware XD)

Tourism Rental car anxiety- any advice?

I recently booked an SUV with Rugged Rentals after checking out some reviews, but when I visited their website today, I saw a notice saying they’re shutting down permanently on November 1. While this doesn’t impact my rental dates, it definitely stressed me out, so I ended up reserving another car through Costco. I’m traveling with three other adults to celebrate a big birthday, and since I’m in charge of the rental, I want to make sure everything goes smoothly. I plan to call Rugged tomorrow for clarification, but I’d love any advice from folks who have rented cars in Salt Lake City, whether from Rugged or Costco/Enterprise. I’ve had some bad experiences with rental companies in the past, so I’m feeling pretty anxious about this whole situation. Plus, I’ve noticed that many rentals are either sold out or priced way too high, and I really don’t want to mess this up for my group!

Photo Looking for D&D players in Millcreek/Sugar House — beginners welcome!

Post image

I’m putting together a free, in-person D&D group in the Millcreek/Sugar House area, likely at a public library, and looking for friendly adults to join.

The campaign is The Black Key Society. You’ll play explorers, investigators, and treasure hunters based in Sharn—a fantasy city of towering spires built above ancient ruins. Expect dangerous expeditions, strange mysteries, shady factions, and opportunities to talk, sneak, fight, or invent another solution.

Never played D&D? You’re welcome! No knowledge of the setting is needed, and we’ll learn as we go.

The tentative plan:

When: Every other Saturday, 1–5 p.m.
Where: Millcreek/Sugar House area; venue TBD.
Game: D&D 5e using the 2024 rules.
Group: Around 4–6 players per session.
Cost: Free.

This will be an open-table campaign, with adventures designed to wrap up each session, so you won’t need to commit to attending every game. Your characters and their choices will still shape an ongoing world. Just follow through when you sign up for a session.

I’m looking for cooperative, respectful players who enjoy exploring, sharing the spotlight, and trying creative ideas. Humor is welcome, as are meaningful danger and consequences. Respect everyone’s boundaries and bring a character who has a reason to work with the group.
Interested? Comment or message me with a little about yourself, your experience with tabletop games (including none!), and whether the proposed schedule works for you.

First date ideas in slc friday 10/16

Hey guys. I'm mid to late 20s m and she's early 20s.

This is supposed to be a first date but we live pretty far apart. I'm in eagle mountain she's in Riverdale.

So we're meeting in slc but we kinda said we could spend more time than a typical first date because of the distance and probably do multiple things. We're meeting at 12 and if it goes well we kinda think we could just spend the day together. Obviously it's a bit risky but hoping for the best.

Problem is i don't know what to fill that time with.

Typically I like to avoid coffee dates because it might get dry so I attempt a simple activity like pool and drinks. But obviously if it's a longer day I'm gonna need more ideas.

Whether it's multiple or one long activity. Please help thanks!

Sky Photo Skyline High School 3+ acres or 15,000+ sq yards of new grass!

I drive by this school almost every day. The new structure is amazing but as they started putting the grass in I was awestruck. Using Google Earth I estimated 3.16 acres or 15294.4 sq yards of grass.

To put it in perspective...to properly care for it requires over 2 million gallons of water.

With two thirds of Salt Lake County is in extreme drought and the rest in severe drought I can't imagine how this was proposed and worse yet approved.

Sky Photo SLC really said, “Here’s your weekly reminder why you love Utah” 🌈🏔️

I commented one of these rainbow pictures on someone else’s post earlier this week, and you guys showed it so much love that I figured the rest deserved their own post! 😂🌈

So here’s the full rainbow show from this week, right over Salt Lake City!

- One minute the skies were looking like the world was ending, and the next, Utah decided to casually drop a whole rainbow across the valley like it was no big deal.
Say what you want about Utah, but the mountains, the skies, and these random moments of beauty never disappoint. ❤️

- SLC, you really are something special. 🏔️

And no, I didn’t find the pot of gold at the end. Pretty sure it’s just another apartment charging $2,000 in rent. 😂
Much love, Utah! ❤️🌈

NO KINGS Rally & March to the Polls - This Saturday 10/17 at 3PM in Salt Lake!

Join thousands of fellow Utahns for a peaceful rally for democracy and march to the ballot box! We will rally at the state capitol at 3:00pm, then march to the nearest ballot box (next to the main branch of the SLC Public Library) starting at 4:00pm.

Bring your ballot to drop off, and remember to dress as your favorite fascist fighter!

Winning the November midterms elections is absolutely critical to stopping our nation's slide into autocracy. This event will galvanize voters and help Utah do our part to restore American democracy. We can't wait to see you out there!

Recommendations Lawyers for renters?

** NOT LOOKING FOR LEGAL ADVICE, just recommendations for lawyers **

I am dealing with an incredibly frustrating situation with the water bill at my apartment complex. I realize from other posts I’ve seen that there has been some recent changes with water billing for apartments, but this is regarding excessive billing the last few months due to likely leak(s) that were JUST fixed yesterday. We went from paying less than $20 for our water bill to paying well over $100, and our next bill is $192. Just for the water!! I would like to possibly talk with a lawyer to see if I am able to fight this and possibly get reimbursement/compensation.

Living in an RV/Tiny on your own property in SLC

Is it possible to live in a tiny or trailer on the property of your own home in SLC? I've seen several around town. The idea would be to rent the home for periods to reduce expenses or while traveling.

Restaurant buyout/rental pricing

Anybody have any intel about pricing for restaurant buyouts in or around SLC? Buyout meaning, you rent the entire restaurant for a whole meal service.

I’m very open to various options, but should accommodate 75-100 people. Brunch, lunch, dinner, fancy, or a dive.

There is never information online about buyouts, and it’s usually a whole ordeal to schedule a consultation for one. I’m just looking for rough pricing! If you’ve bought out a restaurant for a morning or evening, tell me where and how much you paid!

Thanks so much!

Lost & Found Stolen Ebike - Midvale near Fort Union

Stolen last night sometime between 9pm and today 8am. Doesn't have the battery. Right side of the frame is all banged up from the last theft attempt. If you see it, send me a message, if you have it, bring it back to where you found it and no other questions will be asked. I use this bike to commute from Midvale to Herriman when my 30 year old car is having mechanical issues so it's a pretty important part of my life. (First picture is when I first got it, second is most current I could find with the crate and side bags)
