Thoughts on the new NBA Cup Court

I actually really like this one, the JAZZ in faded purple I think looks awesome. What do you guys think about it?

What are your expectations for us in the NBA Cup this year? I think this is the first year that we actually have a good chance to move out of the group stage. What are everyone else’s thoughts though?

Does anyone know if I'm understanding correctly that only the monthly sub allows dvr/game replays but the annual does not?

Asking Jazz fans of all generations!

Hey Jazz fans, so I’m making a video on each franchise’s biggest upset (when they were not expected to win) and each franchise’s biggest choke (sorry if that strikes a chord). I have my guesses for each but I wanted to ask actual Jazz fans to see what you guys think and if you have better answers that I should look at.

I'm considering an upset strictly as when that team was not supposed to win or were big underdogs and won. A choke can either be when your team was expected to win and underperformed, or blew a big lead in an important game or in the playoffs (something around those lines). It can also be a blown playoff lead (example: 3-1 lead)

Let me know what you guys think, I will link the video here when it’s done. Good luck to you guys this season!!

Preseason or not, I'm so wildly impressed with how Darryn has played for a 19 year old and want to overreact to the fact that he's on our squad.

I've always looked at rookies with a rock bottom mindset, trying to usually not look to deep into the cons, but look at what they can do in the league, and the way DP maneuvers to score, his shot making ability, his defense, his effort and overall smoothness to how he plays, it's just goddamn incredible for a 19 year old.

Keyonte at 19 was mostly an off ball guard, and in year 3 was playing like an all star on offense, it would be foolish of me to expect similar size leaps from Darryn, but my lord this kid might actually be the next Kobe in terms of how he scores the rock if he can stay healthy and keep up this work ethic.

We have a real one, we're living in a timeline I didn't expect where we have him instead of Nate Ament or something

Thought this would be an easy way to talk about what the Jazz’s immediate plan is without Nurkic.

Jazz Reddit Fantasy Basketball League

Hey everyone, a post was made about a week ago gauging interest for a fantasy basketball league. Since there are still open spots in the 2nd league and it's possible that not everyone saw the initial post, if you want to join, please do! I will be closing registration tomorrow afternoon.

Join here: https://fantasy.espn.com/basketball/league/join?leagueId=761182155&inviteId=fc070705-f211-49d1-a939-64ad8698e6e1

Also, we need to draft before the 20th (when the season starts) so please check the message board in the league to vote on when the draft will take place.

Thank you!

Why don’t we go get Myles Turner

There’s probably a good reason this hasn’t happened yet but wondering why not. Bucks surely won’t be competitive this year and Jazz can part ways with some of their asset treasure trove to get a good rim defending center. With the desperate center and defense deficit we have Id think the Jazz would be interested in this sort of trade.

Can Jazz come out hot and get 40 wins and make the cuttoff for the playoffs? (how would you prioritize the time to get there?)

Mark your calenders. The Halloween home game better be packed. There's 5 teams around that cutoff, TrailBlazers, suns, Jazz, Kings, Grizzlies. 40 is probably the number the Jazz need. They are projected for 36.5. Lauri could be at 550+ games without reaching the playoffs if they can't get to 40 wins.

We play them early. Suns and TrailBlazers have struggled immensly with turnovers but it was against the Warriors and they drafted one of the most developed defenders. Grizzlies are big and can really do a lot with a more traditional big style around Edey. The Suns look particularly slow. Kings have really been inconsistent, do a lot of dribble penetration and mess up on point of attack defense. Jazz have struggled with outside shooting and consistency and lost Nurk for some of these super important first games.

Oct 21st. Grizzlies Away

Oct 26th Grizzlies Home

Oct 31st Blazers Home

Nov 20th Suns Home

Nov 29th Suns Home

Dec 3rd Blazers Away

Dec 27th Kings Away

Jan 22nd Suns Away

Jan 24th Suns Away

Jan 30th Grizzlies Home

Mar 12 Kings Home

Apr 2nd TrailBlazers Away

Apr 4th TrailBlazers Home

--------------------

I guess since we're reddit and we're free to go way over the top let's do it! Let's lay out a guess at how the Jazz might prioritize to try and win all of these games.

October, Emphasize boxing out and finishing on possessions since the Grizzlies have a ton of rebounding and power in the paint. Getting downhill to keep the bigs in the paint and have strong kickouts with shooters being set. Against TrailBlazers, they had a bunch of turnovers against the warriors. Could just try to keep a defensive heavy lineup and have a long rotation around defense and look for how to keep the game high energy.

November, ball movement. Abuse phoenix over rotating and trying to get closeouts, the suns really play the opponent si it's about maximizing strengths. 2 man sets. Really focus on limiting Phoenixes ability to get defensive pressure or having too many extra posessions. Safe reads. Getting planted for shots.

December, Against Portland and the kings. Focus more on transition offense and Preventing dribble penetration from the kings and blazers.

January, rolls, cuts, and extra passes. Contain the outside shots. They'll have the Suns and if they can contest most of their shooting, they'll be good for most teams later.

February, work on a the depth of the 2nd and 3rd team. Getting a good break for the guys who's got a lot of minutes. Prep to finish out the season strong. Extra minutes for Flip, bamba, Collier, Lots of focus and practice against pick and pop, and containing drives.

March, Half court offense. Pick and rolls, lots of Nurkic heavy posessions. Play a lot of half court ball against Kings and isolation defense.

April, Physicality, rebounding, boxouts. Attacking the rim from multiple sets. Cleaning up details.

---------------------------------

I feel good about their chances, they can still get to 40 wins. Good luck Jazz!

Harrison Ingram Is Making Utah Jazz’s Roster Decision Much Harder

Thumbnail

What do you guys think of Harrison Ingram? I thought he always played under control and was active. He plays at his own pace sort of a Kyle Anderson. He hasn't made his threes but his attempts look like good misses.

I would rather cut Trey Alexander who is supposed to be a point guard but doesn't play like one -- he dribbles with his head and shoulder down and wastes seconds off the shot clock dribbling indecisively before getting rid of the ball ineffectually. Having said that, the Jazz don't have a third point guard behind Key and Collier unless they plan on DP as a PG which he might be capable of doing.
