If Emilia x Subaru is supposedly the only guaranteed main route ending, then riddle me this: why in the world is Tappei still developing Subaru x Rem this intensely all the way into Arc 10?

Look at the shear amount of narrative real estate dedicated to them in Arcs 7, 8, 9 and beyond. In Arc 9, when Rem temporarily gets her memories back her literal task to Subaru before killing him to reset the timeline is to make her amnesiac self fall in love with him all over again. Tappei is intentionally making Rem fall for Subaru twice under entirely different circumstances. Why double down on that dynamic if it’s dead end?

More importantly, the concept of "Why must you choose one or the other?" is a recurring thematic motif in Rezero. We see it as early as Season 1 during the red and blue ogre story with Ram where Subaru outright rejects choosing just one ogre and insists on being friends with both. We see it again in Arc 6 during the stand up scene when Rem asks Subaru the exact same question: "Why must you choose one or the other?" So how does it make any narrative sense to build up that core philosophy only to end the story with "Subaru marries Emilia while Rem gets relegated to a lifelong emotional anchor"? That completely contradicts Subaru’s character and refusal to accept trade offs.

People always point to Tappei’s old statements about being an Emilia fan or disliking harems. See, Rem x Subaru wasn't the main route, so Tappei wrote the Sloth IF. But when asked if there would be an IF route where Subaru and Emilia end up married, Tappei said yes. If a standalone Subaru x Emilia marriage route exists as its own IF branch how can anyone claim a standard Emilia only ending is the sole set-in-stone outcome for the main timeline?

If Tappei actually wanted to phase out the Rem x Subaru romantic possibility, the vollachian empire saga was his perfect chance to do it. Instead, he freaking developed it even more. Subaru calls Rem his "beloved girl" and openly speaks of his love for her. In Arc 8, Rem shows clear jealousy watching Subaru and Emilia interact and Subaru describes Rem as his compass. In Arc 9, Petra reads Subaru’s BOTD and calls him out for being a two timer which the mental image of Subaru confirms is specifically about Emilia and Rem. By Arc 10, Subaru directly frames his heart as torn between Emilia-ism and Rem-ism

This is not ancient wisdom from arc 3 or anything, this is active, current web novel writing. Go back to Arc 4 where Subaru calls them his "two number one stars" or Arc 6 where Roswall says Subaru’s feelings for Rem and Emilia are essentially equal which is a fact Emilia herself acknowledges and Subaru does not argue against it. Tappei isn't writing a man who is getting over someone, he’s writing a protagonist whose love for two women is fundamental to who he is. Saying polygamy or a non traditional dual resolution is impossible completely ignores what Tappei is actively putting on the page right now

Not to mention, treating Tappei's old QNAs like total facts doesnt make sense because he loves messing with fans in interviews. He often gives half truths or leaves stuff out. Remember, Rem was only supposed to be a side character at first, but look how huge her role became. You can't use a random comment from 2014 to judge the story today. The actual writing always matters more than something the author said years ago. If the current chapters clearly show that both Emilia and Rem mean the world to Subaru, then the story speaks for itself

And regarding Rem herself, I think it's obvious that she'll get her memories back permanently one way or another especially considering the line about "dystopia" in the future trial (look it up if you don't know what I am referring to). So that brings another question: How do you think Tappei is going to handle Subaru's feelings for Emilia and Rem and what do you think Rem's ultimate character resolution will look like once she gets her memories back?

so recently i discovered that thing, that many people have complained that Emilia not only not being executed in the most inhuman ways possible, but just being fine in every hard battle since season 2, and it is a bit out of how story generally go with everyone else.

but I'm not here to complain nor defend this.

I just have a bit a theory, that sure can be LARP since I'm anime only (just-just started reading arc 7).

So, what if Emilia got some powers like RBD but its not tied to witches but rather Divine protection or something, so she knows when things will get very bad for her and what to do to avoid critical harm? So now we see her just like everyone sees Subaru, except she stays a dummy, and cant solve many problems, high chances exactly because for her in every successful loop it's Subaru who doing backflips to save everyone.

Why is there fight even before emilia lost her insignia. Here the appa merchant is speaking about two different scenarios and people,but at first watch i thought the ice damage on the walls were done by emilia but after watching the scene clearly the appa guy mentioned emilia a second later " a broke kid like you ....." .This clearly shows that there is something that happened in the first true loop of subaru which the LN or the anime has not explained.

To give more clarity to anyone who's confused. If both the ice damage on walls and the lost daughter incident was done by emilia herself the appa guy must have mentioned something like " a broke kid fought in the alley and later she also helped my daughter when she's lost" but he didn't. The appa guy is clearly talking about two different people here.
