Objectively speaking, Rem is the character with the best development in Re:Zero (excluding Subaru); if she weren't viewed merely as a "waifu," she would undoubtedly belong in the same conversation as Meruem, Sinbad, Doflamingo, itachi, Anakin, and the like.

.

Break time at first was just some silly side thing, but it's pretty clear they're using it to tell the official side stories Tappei had written throughout the years since they are MASSIVELY important to the overall story. So far, the grand majority of the break time episodes were stuff you would expect IN breaktime, such as cute character moments among camps, or smaller moments happening throughout the main story, like Otto trying to walk again and he and Garfiel talking about how they need to get stronger to be more useful. Stuff like that is fine. Even the Sword Saint and Golden Lion side story is fine to reserve for break time (the side story where Felt and Reinhard transports Sirius to a prison in the capitol). These moments are simply events that would go against the flow of each episode, so they include it in a smaller chibi short style series, which is much appreciated

But little by little, they've been adding some crucial information...in break time of all things, such as a moments with Shaula and Reid. They start revealing information like how Satella was an ally to their group, when anime onlies would NEVER understand the context about this

On top of this, there are moments happening in the main story that for some reason gets cut out and pasted into breaktime, the most noteable one being Al's reveal of being from Japan just like Subaru. Massively important story beats like these should not be reserved for break time. The anime still never clafiried that "Satella" and "Witch of Envy" are 2 distinct characters within the same body, which is something that changes the story entirely if not properly conveyed. If they did what they did with Al and cram this into a break time episode, it would be very...dumb

There is a TON of crucial spin off stories that absolutely need center focus, despite not being in the main story. The most noteable one is "Dragon Nation / Meili's Witchbeast Observation Record" side story, where Felt's camp along with Meili travel back to the tower during the events of arc 7. This side story in particular NEEDS to be more than just a silly little break time series. This side story in particular carries an important plot element that COMPLETELY FLIPS THE STORY ON IT'S HEAD. This is something that absolutely needs be addresssed within the main anime, and if they just do it within break time, it will definitely impact the overall plot in a negative way for the anime version. I like breaktime a lot, but idk I'm starting to get the feeling they're using it as a sort of crutch these last couple episodes

【Lady Felt does seem quite a bit taller than myself here, but please do not let that deceive you. It is merely a way of showing how much greater Lady Felt is than I could ever be.】
