With the increasing popularity of running, I’ve seen a lot of people posting their first 5k, 10k, half marathon, etc on social media. There are even trends surrounding run posts. I see mostly women, because I’m a woman. Invariably, in the comments there’s a ton of (mostly men) shit talking. I see women do it too, but far less than men if I’m being completely honest. Twice today this exact scenario happened:
- woman posts half marathon (is proud of her accomplishment)
- men in the comments go on and on about how the pace is so slow it’s basically a walk (woman A was skinny and objectively fit and woman B was overweight, not that it matters a run is a run)

Even more frustrating, I go to one of the accounts and he’s on there talking about how in the chick fil a drive through he was getting a breakfast burrito and the people behind him got sundae cups “at 9:30am”, and then he says “we’re doomed.” One, that sundae cup has the calories and fat of 1/5 of your 700 calorie breakfast burrito. Two, someone runs a half marathon and it isn’t good enough for you and then someone gets a treat instead of what …being out on the grind?? And you still have something to say?

Serious question to the people who leave these comments (if you have the balls to answer): What does knocking down someone else’s pride in their accomplishments do for you? Telling someone they’re slow won’t make you any faster. Telling someone they eat unhealthy won’t help your diet. Telling someone they’re fat won’t make you thinner.

Especially with the popularity of running right now, I feel like we’ve forgotten that the average person can’t run 13.1 miles. The average person isn’t even running a 5k (and that’s okay), so celebrate your victories. Celebrate a lap around the track at a calm walk. Celebrate whatever your goal was, and don’t let these incels take it away from you.

They say closed mouth don't get fed. And I'm just at my wits end! I have been dealing with Hidradenitis Supportiva (autoimmune skin/disease/disorder/boils-cyst/no cure for)since I was 15/16 years old. So you can imagine how painful that is to deal with.

Pass years I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea(dealing with since I was in my teens as well- Big breasted) Bipolar Disorder, Migraines etc.

I became deaf in 2018 Due to a fight an ex husband and I had. He knocked my right ear tube loose. Yes I'm a Domestic Violence survivor.

I stay to myself because of this. I don't know who this is going to reach. But I hope this can reach someone that can help.

Dec 2023 I had to let my son go stay with his father whom is married. And my daughter to stay with her grandparents because I was getting sick more and more. I could no longer take care of them by myself.

2024 I started to work at checkers near Cowan and Pass road here in Gulfport. Amazing crew of ppl there! I enjoyed myself truly I was so happy to be able work. Y'all, dealing with HS and keeping jobs has been gruesome for me.

April 2024 I got deathly sick. I didn't feel anything cause I was working so much. One morning I could barely move my arm. Mind you in 2013 I had sweat glands removal surgery for BOTH armpits. Boil/cyst Still pop up more.

Had to be rushed to the Hospital (Garden Park Hospital) to get it cut. To the head Doctor fussed at me and said, "why you wait this long you could have died!" Sir, I was working it's just me. Of course I didn't notice.

I had to rest for Five Months to heal and after that was told to pick job that would be less taxing on my body. Now, correct me I'm wrong, what job would keep your position with you being constantly sick???

My car was towed. Mind you I used my car at the time before my car was towed. My apt permit was inside my car on my dashboard. The front office acted like they didn't know what happened.

I called the tow man in Gautier, ATowing and Recovery. He said on three seperate Occasions that if I cash app him three different amounts He would bring my car back. Let me clarify, He also stated that my car wasn't working when he towed it. I stated that's a lie. I had just used my car the PREVIOUS weekend to wash clothes at my aunt's house! My homeboy placed my new battery in my car weeks prior to the tow. Then he said the tag was expired.

The front office manager Knew I lost my job that previous year due to me being sick. Who is going to have an update tag with no funds?? Front office Manager was acting densed like they didn't know I was sick. And in order for me to get utility assistance I have to show proof why you lost my job.

I even tried to go to the courthouse to sue the apt complex and the towing company!

Yes (Gulf Mist Apt in Gulfport, Ms) How about NONE of the registered agent they had on their Hud Paperwork wasn't registered with the STATE SECRETARY.

I had to call the head supervisor over hud gave them all my evidence of my car being targeted. Of course they sided with the apts manager. The supervisor above this complex deleted three key emails she sent about her not notifying me of the owners decision about my car after SHE called me to hear the owners offer!

She claimed it "slipped" her mind. Of course they pushed my complaint to the side.

And now, I have to cut up in these ppl office today because the manager calls me about my dad and other ppl gifting me money to help me get personal items I need. Claiming that's income. I told her IIIII don't bring anything in at the moment.

And it's already bad enough they towed my car last year! I would have been happy to get in my car and go. I'm so angry.

Receantly a girl lets call her Emma, she meseged me on snapchat privatly that she wants to talk to me. (just for context we both are at the vocal lesons club and been chating with her and few other people in a groupchat for about a month) i agreed and then she called me, when we both there in the vc she said to mesege to my friend lets call him Jim. she said to say to him that i like heard some rumeres lada lada and that she likes him, werry first thing i thought about, shes tryng to bully him or like to make a fool of him (Emma has a boyfriend but few days after that they broke up), but she convinced me to do that soo i did. fast foward to last 2 week they started to go out, stay together outside the school more but she got together with her ex like a week ago, she was not an oficial couple with jim but did couple things. Jim started talking about suicide to the point he tride to poisin himself with medicine of some kind. and today she said that she only did that bicuse she wanted to make him a fool (we were with a group of people when she said that) now they both broke up but stayed friends. And now i have a feeling they using me for something to idk for what but for something.

Jeez, I’ve had my license for about a week or two by now, and the more I drive the more I realize people in my town have just completely stopped using their turn signals. People will go to turn left or right and will not use their turn signals. Not only that but they will no longer stop at stop signs and absolutely go speeding around a corner when turning.

Not only that but as I was doing driving school one old man got mad at me during a lesson because I was doing 10 in a parking lot when the speed listed was 10.

He drove around me, screamed and flipped me off.

Not only THAT!!!! But I was recently visiting somebody I knew who passed at a cemetery and the posted speed limit was 15. I was going 15 and people got mad AT ME and passed me going at least 35. How rude.

Not only THAT!! But people never let me over, nor merge on the highway, and people always tailgate me and then come around me and break check me.

Literally everytime I get on the highway to merge people refuse to let me over and only let me merge once the ramp turns into the shoulder of the highway.

One guy almost purposely rear ended me because I was going 25 and he was going like 45 and got pissed at me because I was on a main road with the speed limit posted as 25.

Why is EVERYBODY in a rush??

Half of the time at intersections I don’t know if a person is turning or not because they do not use their turn signals anymore, and because of that I’ve almost gotten into accidents. It’s annoying!! And again, don’t get me started, I’ve noticed that people in their 50’s have already started the process of rolling or blowing through the stop signs.

I have legit had people pass me multiple times when I go 17 in a school zone because the speed limit is 20.

On Facebook I constantly see posts from people pissed about constantly getting tickets, well, I wonder why!!

And today I saw this old mad somehow jump the damn sidewalk and crash into a telephone pole and was just chilling on his phone after the accident as the police tried to interview him.

Maybe I’m the bad person I don’t know, but jeez got forbid I follow the posted speed limit and I follow the rules.

First things first I must say that I am black and have had my fair share of discriminatory experiences but nothing too serious to really remember or care about however, I'm sick of reverse oppression or discrimination. What I mean by this is people who have been discriminated against or are part of a minority and they have been discriminated against by a certain group of people and now that they feel more free and have more rights they think it's ok to do the same thing to those who have the same physical characteristics as those who oppressed them.

For example I see lots of clips of people like Doechii saying "I hate straight white men" or that fuckass show lesbian space princess (never watched btw) where the villains are straight white maliens pisses me off so much, they discriminate against straight white people just because they are not a minority or because they were never oppressed of because they share the same race as those who oppress them. It's stupid.

Instead of ending the wars of "men are better, women are better" they just continue. Another example is a black supremacist saying "oh we used to be superior, all white people should be our slaves" is so dumb and then they carry on that hate onto the white people so now white people are being oppressed and white people hate black people and then they reverse the roles again and again because instead of choosing peace people choose violence. Like imagine a black supremacist kills a white father of 2 and those 2 children grow up to be racists or have hatred for black people and then they spread hate against black people and are no longer oppressed by black supremacists and discriminate against black people now. It's a continuous futile cycle and it gets justified because "oh we were a slaves and we were oppressed so we can do the same to innocent white people".

The worst example is when women hate on men e.g lindsay clancy case where a man who lost his kids and the love of his life is now getting ganged up on by a bunch of parasocial idiots who think they know it all. Men used to be very misogynistic and still are today but that doesn't mean that every man on this plane of existence is a piece of shit and it doesn't mean that you can spread hatred towards men that didn't do anything to you. A woman will have dealt with trauma from a man and carries that on to other men and just groups them together. Why am I seeing posts on tiktok talking about " if my baby is a boy im killing him so he doesnt turn out to be a misogynist and a rapist but also because i dont want a boy" or "dont worry lindsay(disgusting killer) sometimes i feel the same way too". I've seen people talking about killing all men or "we don't need men". It's horrible because men will get treated like shit for their gender but if the roles are reversed death threats are sent.

So as the title says I hate having to dumb down my work. I spent weeks working on something, only for my professor to accuse me of using AI because he thought the language was too advanced. He ran it through an AI detector, and it flagged my work, he assumed I didn’t write it myself, even though I did. He gave me a chance to redo it, so I had to dumbed my writing and make it sound less advanced. Suddenly, it was accepted as my own work. I hate that I have to make my writing sound less intelligent just to prove that I actually wrote it. I put time, effort, and thought into my work, and it’s frustrating for him to say it not mine.

Likewise the notion that wood furniture should never be painted is stupid.  There are examples of everything from craklepaint to mirrored lacquer finishes. Many suck. A few are stunning. Some of the advice restorers give is cork sniffing nonsense. You don't need special polishes, strippers, tools etc from Cranky Restorer Dwarf Lord inc. The only advancements that mattered other than rechargable tools are superglue, gel stains, water based polys and citrus based srtippers. As unromantic and unimportant as it sounds you buy it from a bigbox and follow the instructions on the label. You're not going to ruin anything.

Because somebody had their friend buy it off ebay for 2 grand so they can say 'look that's what they're selling for', doesn't mean anything. You dont have a chippendale or a Queen Anne. Or a Herman Miller for that matter. If by some strange contingency you do, you have way more serious problems asking for restoration help on reddit.

I feel like life couldn’t be worse for me right now, at least mentally. We’re almost halfway in school and I’m so depressed I’ve barely been able to do anything which is embarrassing because I feel like I’m disappointing my professors and I need to ask them for letters of recommendations. I feel like my friends sometimes hate me but it’s fine cause i’m fine alone but sometimes when I leave my apartment and see other people with their friends, I really hate myself.
