It’s my first spring surrounded by Jacaranda blossoms! What is your favorite strictly-confidential-do-not-tell-the-Joburgers spot in Pretoria to reset your brain or grab a cold/hot drink?

A Wellness Experience in Pretoria

Thumbnail instagram.com
0 Upvotes

Hey ladies! I wanted to share this lovely wellness experience happening in Pretoria this weekend.

If you've been looking for something relaxing to do, a chance to unwind, or just some time to focus on yourself, this might be for you.

Yoga in the Garden with Maia is happening at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden. The session includes a gentle yoga flow and journaling, all surrounded by nature.

Date: Saturday, 17 October 2026

Time: 09:30–10:30

Venue: Pretoria National Botanical Garden

The best part is that all levels are welcome, so you don't need any yoga experience to join. This event is exclusively for women. Just bring your yoga mat, water, journal and pen as well as comfortable clothes.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, you can book your ticket through Quicket using the event link.

Hope to see some of you there!

Could you please take my survey about air quality in Pretoria?

Hi everyone! I'm a student and I’m doing a school project about environmental quality, especially air quality in Pretoria, and I’d really appreciate your help.

I chose this topic because I have asthma, so air quality is something that affects me personally. I also have a friend who’s an athlete, which got me thinking about how the environment might affect people who exercise and spend time outdoors.

I’ve made a survey to learn more about people’s experiences and views. If you have a few minutes to answer it, your responses would really help me understand the issue better. Thanks so much!

Pretoria/Gauteng singles - werk dating apps actually nog vir julle? 👀

Dating apps werk obviously vir party mense… maar as ek na Reddit kyk, voel dit of baie van ons somewhere tussen “ek is klaar met swiping” en “okay fine, maybe nog EEN try” sit. 😭😂

So genuine vraag:

As jy dit actually sou probeer:
Instagram: @singlenogal

Submissions is oop en goedgekeurde profiele gaan in die volgende feature queue. 🖤

Dalk ’n ding? 😏

Hey guys, so I wanna visit Camp David, but have noted both the website and respective social media pages haven’t given indication of its events etc so not sure if it’s a popular place.

Also more or less, what’s the age groups that you’d mostly find?

Visiting for first time in 9 years. Is it safe?

Coming to say goodbye to my last living grandparent and visit family/friends. I’m very out of touch with what it’s like in Pretoria or SA as a whole. Is it safe in Pret? I’m pregnant so feeling a bit more on edge than usual about crime and safety. Can I wear jewelry? Is it safe to drive alone as a woman? Can I show my belly? Would be grateful for any pointers on what’s ok and what is not. Thank you!

Any Freelance Web Developers in Pretoria?

I'm new here on Reddit and I thought I should create an account and ask for help with regards to freelancing.

I've been learning web development for the last 2 years now and I have - I think - a severe case of impostor syndrome. So, I need a little bit of help and guidance when it comes to freelancing. Specifically: how do you sell your services or skills? Where do you get clients? How do you contact them? How do you charge - per project or per hour?

Any advise that could help me get started or at least nudge me forward would be much appreciated.

This is my portfolio for those who are curious or want to see my skills before offering me some much needed advise: RaymondtDev Portfolio

What are the best clubs or places to go out in Pretoria and Centurion?

I'm curious to know which clubs and nightlife spots people genuinely enjoy around Pretoria and Centurion.

Not necessarily the most popular places, but those with good music, a great atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Which places would you recommend, and what makes them worth visiting?

I'm also working on a South African nightlife discovery platform, so I'm interested in understanding what people actually look for when choosing somewhere to go out.

Jacarandas viewing

Hi!

I am taking a friend to see the jacarandas, she has always wanted to. Where can we go that us safe? As woman I don't want to go to places that will be dodgy for us. We will be 3 people, but I don't want to take any chances. I know we have brooklyn, groenkloof and waterkloof as options, but is there physical places where it is safe to stop and take pictures?

Thank you in advance! 😊

Update: thank you so much for everyone's suggestions. I have wrote them all down and will be making a good 'plan van aksie'. I appreciate it! And for people, who apparently wants me out of the country, thank you for the suggestion! But I will give it a pass. 😁😁

That's it. They are supposed to be cleaner, but they are already moldy?

The public toilets at PnP in Kolonade Retail Park got these seats, maybe at the maximum 2 years ago, and they are moldy???? I've seen them in other public restrooms as well.

How are they cleaner than a normal toilet seat if they are moldy after just 2 years?

I launched a skincare platform for South Africans…

Hi everyone,

My name is Michael and I just launched the public beta version of my South African skincare platform a couple of weeks ago.

Short story long, it’s a tool you can use to analyze your skin profile, get AI-powered and dermatologist-reviewed skin assessment reports and manage your daily routine based on your unique skin profile. I also publish skincare content every day including product reviews, educational skincare briefings, mini podcast episodes and there’s a forum where you can interact with the rest of the community and get advice and tips from skincare professionals, book virtual consultations and chat with accredited dermatologists and the list goes on.

I’ve been working on this platform by myself for a couple of years now and I’d really appreciate any feedback you guys have to offer. It’s free to use and it’s actually useful for anyone who cares about skincare.

Please check it out and let me know what you think! 🙏💙

Learning how to drive without having a car

So I’ve started learning how to drive in my old age (M32, black) and I thought how hard could it be? 5 lessons in and I realise that this sh** is hard. I need (a lot of) practice. However, I don’t have a car. And these lessons are expensive (R500 for a lesson is not sustainable). Is there anyone who has gone through this without having a car? How did you get more practice outside of the driving school lessons? Is anyone else in the same boat?

Anyone interested in joining a new online book/social club?

Hey everyone, I’m putting together something called Spice Club and wanted to see if anyone would be interested in joining.

The idea actually came from my girlfriend, who’s been finding it pretty difficult to make new friends lately. I realised that a lot of people probably feel the same way, especially when you’re not in school or university anymore and your social circle starts becoming smaller.

So I thought, why not create a little community where people can meet others without it being weird or forced?

Spice Club is basically a mix of a book club and general social group. We’ll start with an online meeting where everyone can get to know each other and chat about what they’d actually like to do.

The book side could involve reading and discussing books, but it doesn’t have to be super serious. We could also do movie nights, online games, random discussions, recommendations, or just have a call and talk about whatever.

The main goal is just to meet new people and make some friends.

There’s no experience required, you don’t have to be a massive reader, and you definitely don’t need to be super outgoing.

If you’re also looking to meet some new people, comment or DM me and I’ll send you the details for the first online meeting.

Would be cool to see who’s interested.
