Was outside in my garden in Pinelands and heard the fighter jet which I assume is based in/flying from Ysterplaat.

Iām hoping the wonderful people of Cape Town might be able to help us with something a little spontaneous!
I brought my fiancĆ©e out to Cape Town from the UK, and she has genuinely fallen in love with this place. Honestly, itās become her favourite city in the world, and weāve been talking about how incredible it would be to elope here and make this trip even more special. Thereās just one slight problem⦠we leave on Monday!
Weāre now wondering whether thereās any way we could actually make this happen before we go. Weāre not looking for a big wedding, an elaborate setup or anything remotely traditional. It would literally just be the two of us, somewhere beautiful, having a little ceremony, taking some photos and sharing a moment weāll remember for the rest of our lives.
Weāre incredibly easygoing and chilled people. Weāre happy to be flexible, we donāt need anything extravagant, and weād be open to pretty much any idea or help that could make this possible. A beautiful garden, a wine farm, a secluded beach, a mountain backdrop, a lovely little venue, a photographer, a small business⦠honestly, weāre all ears!
I thought Reddit might be the perfect place to ask because you guys have been so helpful and often know about incredible places, talented people and possibilities youād never find through Google. So, Iād love to hear from anyone who might have ideas!
Are there any celebrants, photographers, planners or venues who might be able to help?
Do you know of any beautiful places that would be happy to accommodate something this small at short notice?
I know a legally recognised marriage might not be possible in the time we have so if we can arrange a symbolic ceremony instead and make it just as special thatād be fine, we can tick the boxes back home.
We know this is ridiculously last-minute, but sometimes the best things happen when you just put the idea out into the world and see what happens.
Cape Town has given us so many incredible memories already. If we could leave with this one too, it would honestly mean the world to us.
Thank you in advance so much for any suggestions, contacts, ideas or advice. Even if you think itās a long shot, please throw it out there! ā¤ļø

Spent the past week in Johannesburg. That city has a magic and energy that Cape Town lacks, it's so vibey, charismatic, and full of hustle. Yes, we have the nature, but they got the vibes. We should all be rooting for Joburg to get back to its absolute best.

Hi there guys,
Is the Home Affairs dept in tygervalley mall the same like typical HA depts, in that it gets packed quickly and you have to get there at like 5 a.m. to sort your stuff out?
Thanks guys.

Good morning I wanted advice about what questions they ask if you go there. I am currently homeless and looking to go to a shelter I have no real family but I don't know if they'll turn me away

Hey everyone! I'm a music producer based in Cape Town looking to connect with male and female vocalists who enjoy making music as a hobby.
I have the beats and recording equipment, and I'd love to collaborate with people who want to record songs, experiment with different sounds, and have fun making music together. No professional experience needed!
I'm into R&B, GQOM, and indie/acoustic music, but I'm open to exploring different genres.
If you're someone who loves singing but doesn't have the equipment or resources to record your own music, feel free to DM me! Let's make something cool. šš½

Hi guys.
I really like live music, especially jazz.
Someone told me about jazz train at the start of this year and I've been following their IG account since then and occasionally did google searches to check out if they're having another jazz train again.
Even tried getting into contact and didn't get a reply.
I saw they collaborated with the Simon's town festival thing but that's it, not the actual jazz train thing.
Does anyone maybe have information on if the folks that organize it are interested in ever doing that again? Year's almost over so I doubt that they will, but I live in hope.

I live in the northern suburbs, specifically Durbanville.
I am a lvl 2 autistic kid. I'm 17, but i have been playing piano since i was around 7-8, and I haven't touched my keyboard in the last 5 years. I started playing the drums, but i only had a year of lessons. I had to stop both because of medical reasons.
I do online schooling, so it can be any day, any time. I'm not allowed to drive, and im way more comfortable at home, so i would prefer home visits. Preferably a woman, but im fine with a man.
They dont need to be educated, but just understanding and willing to learn.
So does anybody know someone who teaches piano and drums (fine if just one) that is able to do home visits and is willing to work with autistic children?

Does anyone know of a retirement village that offers rentals without requiring a certain income from the actual residents? I am looking for a rental unit in a retirement home / village where I can pay for the rental. I currently pay for a flat for them, but they are getting older and already need assistance (trips to the shops, check ins with a nurse, cleaning etc) I live in Johannesburg so it's hard for me to look after them. If I can get them into a place where I can just pay for the rental and know that they're taken care of that would be amazing. My budget is 8-10k pm. They have pension which covers food etc.

Hi guys! I've recently taken an interest in sewing and would like to get started on making my own clothes. I love alt fashion, but the selection here is so limited. Im also a sensory sensitive person, so I'd like to make clothes with materials I know I like.
So, does anyone know a good spot that offers classes and a chance to make new friends? Any advice for beginners also welcome š Dankie for your time!

Hiiiiiii. I'm just really curious, does anyone know what all the fuss was about this morning on Long Street? Saw the hippo and an army van, guys with guns, crime scene tape.
Edit: UPDATE
I got the tea. Apparently the bank in town needed to do a cash transfer so they closed everything off and got the big guns out in case. At least no one was hurt. Yours truly, a small town girl living in the city lol

I'm broke this month but I love spoiling my GF with nice days out away from her stressful job. Any good ideas for free places to go on dates? She loves novelty and new interesting things or places. I've not lived in CT that long so I don't know all the good locations. She has lived here a while so any more unusual ideas or places to explore would be good.

Anyone have experience with taking legal action against Virgin Active?
I was seriously mislead joining Virgin Active Foreshore, which I believe is a violation of the Consumer Protection Act.
I joined Foreshore on the 24th of September. It was not disclosed to me by the sales person that the gym would be closing for renovations on the 9th of October (two weeks after) for an undisclosed amount of time. It could be many months based on other renovations.
After contacting the branch manager, they said "You can use any gym that is not a collection in the meantime". However, every gym in the Atlantic Seaboard/CBD is now a collection. The nearest non-collection club is in Constantia or Century City which is totally unrealistic as I live in Sea Point.
They told me I can cancel at a (large) fee. Is this a violation against of the Consumer Protection Act? If so, does anyone have any experience taking legal action against them?
Thanks!

Sorry for the bad picture but this family is notorious for their scams. They have got me once and almost got a few people that I know. They usually give the same kind of scam. Even asks you to hold their phone for "trust". Give a sob story that they an Indian family that came here from the floods in Durban and that Capetownians don't know how to treat Indians (so weird but ok). They often selling spices or asking you to pay to fix their car.
