Exactly! It’s not about agreeing with someone politically cause nobody deserves to be physically attracted for their beliefs. You can disagree with someone without resorting to violence
Yes they can. Don't doomspiral just because of some violence somewhere else. You are safe in your own home 99% of the time unless you have violent partners or roommates.
And that's a real problem that we have to work together to solve. But panicking or thinking you're always going to have to be in "survival" mode, even in your own home, is not productive or healthy. Being a feminist isn't about being afraid of men and broad statistics, it's about dismantling the systems that encourage all that violence.
I am very sorry to break this to you but most violence against women is done by a man they know in their own home. It has gotten worse with the overt anti-women's rights preached by the GOP.
Oh, I know. I'm just saying that panicking or spiraling and saying things like "Women can't even be safe in their own homes anymore" is not helpful to the person saying them or anyone believing them. And it might be a language issue, because when someone says "their own home" I am picturing a person living alone or holding more power in the household.
Maybe. Just a quirk in how I think about that phrase. If I said "my own home" while living with roommates or partner(s), that seems wrong to me. I would say "In our own home" or "in my roommates'/polycule's home."
No, we can't. And that's sad and worthy of whatever help we can give while we're in our own storm. But you and me and other women are not suddenly at risk of violence or death in our own homes. We have agency and ability. Panic/hysteria is the mind-killer.
