Hi all,
First of all WOW!! My first post absolutely blew up! I totally did not expect that but I have received tons of advice, encouragement, and positive comments from people who have had experiences with this sort of thing. Thank you for all of you who responded and shared some of your own personal experiences.
So a couple of you said something about the picture I shared, specifically about how they spotted a few things that I missed initially. It is now confirmed that there is something in the trees watching me take the picture. Others have speculated there being a face in the window, and to that I'm not really sure. My wife did confirm that the thing in the woods was something she had seen before, but that it wasn't anything evil. Queue the sigh of relief.
I will put the picture here again, this time zoomed in to the thing in the woods, in case you all missed it. You can very faintly see two eyes and what looks like a face. Even though my wife said it wasn't bad, I can't help feeling a little terrified. The fact that something was watching me from the trees and I didn't notice it is absolutely horrifying.
Anyway, shortly after I made the first post, my wife and I and two of our friends who are also married took a short weekend trip. We were close to Gatlinburg, TN, and the cabin we were staying in was right smack dab in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains.
Long story short, my wife told me she kept seeing things. Feeling energy. One night we were out on the porch together and I was drinking a beer while she sat wrapped in a blanket. I turned to my right and swear I saw something duck around the cabin. I told her this and she said she felt a dark energy somewhere near us. I was in panic mode. I turned on my phone flashlight and ran to the side of the cabin, hoping to catch whatever it was. Surprise surprise, it was no longer there.
Knowing the Appalachian Mountains, it could have been a number of things: A wendigo (apparently you're not supposed to say that word out loud according to my wife😬), a skinwalker, or any other dark creature that roams the woods. Luckily we were not a witness to the "silent forest," where every noise in the forest just stops. The wind, the bugs, the trees. Everything falls silent, because whatever is near to you is feared enough to make even the trees themselves go quiet. Scary stuff. Luckily I was not a witness to much, but I heard about it from my wife.
I think this will be the last update for a good long while, at least until something interesting happens again. Not sure when that will be, but I hope it isn't soon. Thank you all again for your support.
EDIT: Not sure why reddit significantly downgraded the picture quality but to see the thing more clearly, go see the original post and zoom in on that area. You can see it better there for some reason
