News & Discussion QP Ruined By Stacks

• Upvotes

Billionth post about this im sure - but why on earth am I playing against 6 stacked players while filling in for a four stack (with some other poor guy, who was backfilled after the first one saw the writing on the wall)- "its just quickplay" - so the game mode new players play the most is meant to be the least fair?

solo queue fucking when.

Humor Not Saying There Shouldn't Be A Swap But...

Post image

Mercy is only a throw pick if literally no one else on the team is making plays. Then, yes, time to switch to a character that can mop up messes and fix mistakes as some players think that's all supports are for.

Good ones know Mercy is here to make your play shine and give you a second chance ✨

I'm ready to die in a monsoon of downvotes now. I've lived a good life. 🤗

News & Discussion Quick question about the battle pass

• Upvotes

I've been playing this game for a while but i never bought any pass. This pass seems very good tho, so I'm planning to buy it. My question is, if i bought the pass will the pass stay with me permanently? As in i can unlock the rewards WHENEVER i want? I heard some people say this is possible because of the new battle pass system, but i need a confirmation

News & Discussion Percentage of emerald plays not ranked correctly

• Upvotes

Wanting to get some opinions on what people think the actual percentage is of players in emerald that are ranked too low or high. There has been a lot of discussion here that emerald feels pretty horrible and all over the place. Even in my own games I’ve seen a pretty decent sized chunk of players that seem very out of place in emerald. I know that it takes time to sort out/people have off games but it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks.

Console This is on PS5. Between 40s and 50s of waiting before I can play

This is Mystery Heroes. I do expect it stutters a little, but just a little and only at the start since it has to load everything as you spawn in. It stutters so so SO bad I can't even turn around with proper control as you can see 10-15 seconds in here.

This doesn't even stop at Just MH. Normal matches are like this, especially during the hero select screen. It takes the same amount of time shown here before I can select or DO anything. This is unbearable.

News & Discussion Real toxicity vs chats

• Upvotes

People here seem to confuse true toxicity with chats. Chat is the only thing you can control when it comes to other players, that is the the one thing you can just "nope" out of. if I don't want to see or hear you, I can mute that and have my game improve immediately.

I can't mute an afk player, I can't mute a thrower, I can't mute people banning my hero, I can't mute "tank swap or no heals", I can't mute a 3 dps comp, I can't mute stuff like that. They have added a report button on every single chat that's deemed "offensive" (to 3rd graders not mature adults) but no quick report button for anything else.

Things like afks and throwers are truly toxic because you have to just sit there and accept the time wasted and the loss, there's not one thing you can do to change that game. if one person wants to throw and lose, that's whats going to happen, where'd the mute button for that?

it just seems and feels like most players don't care at all when it comes to 0/10 teammates as long as they are nice to you, there's been games where you get frustrated with someone else's poor performance and when you say something to them everyone defends that person?

I have had games where I'm the only person positive like 5/1 and I'm saying gg because of a 1/9 junkrat all while having the entire team say to report me for "toxic chat" while ignoring the 1/9 player causing everyone to lose.

how come people care more about people being nice rather than winning? I don't play QP I only q ranked so yes the goal of the game is to win.

id rather have very rude and mean teammates that go 10/0 and win rather than have very nice and kind teammates that go 0/10 causing us to lose.

you can mute chat, you can't mute bad gameplay.

im really trying to understand, I think some people just get online strictly to report other players. Are you even having fun? What is the end goal? Do you think your reports are going to get every mean person on earth perma banned so you can have a "toxic free" game? I don't understand whatsoever.

Hi!

I am trying to make fan art for Doctrine and I can’t figure out what to do with his hair. Online says he has Locs, but they look like twists at the same time.

What do yall think and How do you like the new character so far?

Humor Should we make Widow into a tank

• Upvotes

Tank widow?

Hey guys -

I just figured with the wave of reworks, I'd throw a suggestion into the mix. The majority of players disliking playing against Sombra is the core argument I see for he rework -

Should we just make Widow a tank then? I know most of us hate playing against her aswell. Then she couldn't hide in the back anymore. We can replace with her sniper with a telescope that acts like DVA's field and shields around her - then players still feel like they're sniping and can't complain we took away their fantasy. The scope is there; you can pretend to be a sniper!

News & Discussion I feel like people have become completely disconnected from statistics

Look, I get it. Win rate and pick rate aren't everything. There is a lot of context to take in that is difficult to account for everything.

But at a certain point there is only so much explaining away you can do for why a character with a high pick rate has a horrible or amazing win rate.

The best example is the way people reacted to Kiriko getting buffed. I know not everyone agreed with HOW she got buffed, but she obviously needed it. She literally had the lowest win rate in the entire game across all ranks. Even in GM/Champ life weaver was the only one with a lower win rate. She was close to falling below 40%. Kiriko was literally a borderline throw/troll pick and people were in arms she got buffed.

Another example is Sojourn. Who like Kiriko seems a permanent part of OWCS and also like Kiriko has atrocious win rates at all ranks on the ladder. She hasn't been a good ranked hero for a long time, but people will act like you're insane for thinking one of the worst performing DPS should get buffed.

People also lost their minds over the Hog buff, despite him being one of the worst performing tanks in the game after the rework. Again not liking how they buffed him is one thing. But he clearly needed a little something after his rework.

Recently, the Genji and Sombra mains have been competing for who can be more detached from reality about the strength of their hero. They've seemingly convinced themselves their hero is actually weak despite being the best performing DPS and second best support at nearly every rank with matching pick rates.

If a character has the highest or second highest pick rate combined with the highest or second high win rate for their role at every rank...there would have to be some insane context for those numbers to not just mean the character is overturned.

My favorite one is that Genji has been so bad for so long, only true Genji mechanical gods still play him. So if they even buff Genji to be balanced his win rate will be really high as only elite ninjas are playing him. I don't know how that explains his 55% win rate in Bronze and the fact that Bronze Genjis are apparently bodying Bronze Reapers, Anrans, Sierras, etc but it's very funny every time I see it.

Obviously there are characters with depressed win rates, so low pick rates that people are only choosing them in specific situations where they are strong but they aren't broadly OP, and other factors. But you can only explain away so much when a character has a very high pick rate.

News & Discussion Some technical improvements I'd love to see in Overwatch

People have been asking for some of these features for a while, so I wanted to put them all together in one post in the hopes of getting Blizzard's attention. The goal here is to suggest quality-of-life and technical improvements that would benefit players without negatively affecting anyone or sparking too much controversy.

1. Server selection with the ability to queue across multiple servers

Queue times can be a serious issue at competitive, especially at high ranks. Being able to search for matches across multiple servers at once would make a huge difference for players in these ranks. It would also eliminate the need to rely on third-party tools to find games more consistently.

2. Shader preloading on first launch

DirectX 12 was introduced in February 2025, and although it's still in beta, it's a great option for players who get better performance out of it.

The problem is that shaders aren't properly loaded beforehand, which can cause character models to become invisible during your first few matches. Obviously, this can have a pretty significant impact on gameplay.

There are already ways to load shaders by playing certain game modes beforehand, but having a proper shader compilation process built into the game would make things much easier and provide a smoother experience from the start.

3. AMD Anti-Lag 2 and Intel Xe Low Latency support

Currently, NVIDIA Reflex is the only dedicated low-latency option available in the game. Adding support for AMD Anti-Lag 2 and Intel Xe Low Latency would be great for players using hardware from those manufacturers, giving them access to similar latency-reduction features.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about these suggestions! Are there any other technical improvements you'd like to see that could make the game better for everyone?

News & Discussion Little OW Appreciation

I'm a silent reader but I just have to say how much fun I’m having in OW.

This year’s Halloween event mode is the most fun I’ve had in ages. I’m a Sombra main (sorry) and I just love the rework.  There def loads of issues but for a free game that I get to play on the Switch 2, I’m really happy it exists. Also, I just fucking love everything Domina and they ATEEEE with her character.

I wish Ultra skins weren't so crazy expensive tho.

News & Discussion The players that dwell in late night/early morning QP are akin to eldritch horrors

The angriest, pettiest, most toxic comp player will never compare to those night stalker one tricks with 3k hours in just QP. These creatures rise from the mist of the bog with a fervor in their heart that would shake a mortal man. Their ire unbound and indiscriminate, any in their way will be consumed in their dark lust to save their K/D. Let not even a whisper into match chat lest to enrage them for their grudges know no end. Beware those that stalk the QP queues in the dead of night or you will be naught but a memory to those who knew you.

News & Discussion Shrinkflation is ridiculous. Why do you make it so hard to justify spending money in this game, Blizzard?

Post image
97 Upvotes

Let's just compare these two bundles.

For the small sum of $69 (/s), in the same shop rotation, you can either buy a collaboration bundle that includes: 5! skins, 5 highlight intros, 5 victory poses, 5 name plates and 2 voice lines. Or, you can get a bundle with 4 skins, 2 highlight intros, only 1 name plate, no voice lines and no victory poses at all.

Like, are we for real here? Apparently, Blizzard know that, for once, they released a good skin lineup. So they feel like it's OK to sell it for more than most other painfully mediocre designs they pump out every season? I really like the Advanced Wearables skins and I actually play all 4 of those characters, but every single brain cell I have left screams that I'd be a complete idiot to buy this bundle and support this shrinkflation.

I don't even wanna talk about the Ultra skins and the watering down of the legendary skin concept. And I know that reddit posts are mostly just screaming into the void. But is it really so hard to treat your paying customers with an ounce of respect, Blizzard? They'll buy it anyway, so they don't deserve it? Grim attitude to have. And I prefer to feel like I'm supporting developers who don't treat me like an idiot and a money lemon to squeeze dry. My wallet stays shut.
