Medical Advice CMPA & daycare & massive blowouts

18 month old dealing with CMPA, daycare is aware of this allergy but still constantly feeds him dairy for almost every meal. Aren’t these meals all CMPA unfriendly? Never had a problem with blowout diapers until recently where daycare is feeding dairy heavy meals, becoming very frustrated because of this. I’m assuming he’s also in some kind of pain if his blowouts are this bad. Blowouts are complete liquid and just pours out the top and sides of diaper. He also had a bought of dermatitis that I would assume is from the uptick in dairy

Breakfast : rice and strawberry yogurt Chex cereal

Lunch: chicken tacos with shredded cheese

Snack: muffin

Sleep I don't want to move baby to crib 🥺

• Upvotes

My 3 month old has rolled from belly to back a couple times, and while I think it was accidental I feel like she's going to start purposefully rolling soon. I have a really small bedroom and can't fit her full size crib in with me. I'm thinking of buying a mini crib for when she can no longer be in her bassinet. I love having her right next to me during the night. She's too little to go to her own room 🥺

Childcare Constantly needs one parent more than the other

We have a 15 month old boy. He's active. Sleeps well. Eats well. Cute as a button. No complaints really except he won't go to bed unless I (Dad) am there to put him to bed. . When he's upset over anything, he wants me to soothe him and comfort him, not his Mom. He wants me to change his diaper. wants me to play with him. He constantly needs me. Even now, he cried for 15 minutes straight when his Mom tried to put him sleep. She tried carrying him in her arms. tried lying down with him. he constantly screamed till I picked him up and now he's sleeping in my arms as I'm working at my desk. We believe it is because right up till his 8th month, to let Mom recuperate after birth, I slept with him every night while Mom slept in a different room. We are not sure what we can do to make him less dependent on me. Not only is getting difficult for me, I can see it hurts Mom too to see him want me more than her. Its not like I'm away from home for long and he misses me, I work from home, so im always around. Is this a phase ? Not sure what I (we) can do to balance the dynamic?

Product Reviews/Questions Nursery Chair....too many options!

Hello! Anyone have strong opinions on a nursery chair? I don't really care about the recline feature, but I do want it to glide or rock. And my biggest want is just comfy!! I want it to be somewhere to nurse and read to baby.....but I don't want to spend a stupid amount of money on a chair tbh especially on trendy baby brands.....if I am going to drop close to 1k I would rather get a reputable furniture brand.....but any more experienced Moms out there have opinions?

Sleep 8month MOTN wakings with twins

Hi all,

I have 8 month old twins who were Ferber sleep trained at 5 month old. Not daytime nap trained yet. Right now they wake at 7am and sleep around 8pm. They usually have a MOTN feed around 4-5am. It was getting later and later like 5:30 or 6am. And we got super excited thinking maybe this is a turning point of no more MOTN feed. Only to be humbled with now I’d say a week or so of 3am MOTN feeds. It is always the same twin that wakes up. The other twins can probably sleep through the night. But I don’t know because we will feed both of them even if only one wakes. We then give them both a 5oz bottle and they guzzle that down

I know we are suppose to be on two naps but we are on three. BUT By 2 hrs ww for the first nap, they are fussing and showing sleep cues. So I put them down to nap

I’m just confused. I thought after solids, they should sleep better or even through the night. But it seems almost as if after solids they were waking up earlier and earlier.

Any rhyme or reason to this?
Thank you
tired twin mama

Medical Advice Beyfortus

I have a 10 day old, 17 month old and 36 month old. I’m going to get the antibody shot for the infant but also wanted to get it for my 2 toddlers. Our pediatrician said they are ineligible as they are over 8 months old. Has anyone else had this experience? I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be able to get it? They’ve never had RSV…

Postpartum Recovery 10 weeks pp, still not back to working out, feeling guilty

I used to be decently active and would go to the gym 4-5 times a week before becoming pregnant. I was barely able to exercise while pregnant because I was so incredibly tired all the time.

I am 10 weeks pp now. Had an unrelated health issue a few weeks ago that prevented me from working out for two whole weeks. I am making an effort to get back into exercising, but I am honestly struggling so hard and I've never been the type to be able to lose weight just from dieting alone. I feel so weak and exhausted all the time and don't really want to be away from the baby. My husband is great with our baby and does so much for her, but I feel so guilty for not spending more time with baby. I already go to bed much earlier than my husband every night and also often need a nap just to get through the day. All that plus gym time feels like too much time not spent with baby.

Is it normal to still be so exhausted? Any tips to get out of this rut?

Skills and Milestones Baby milestones

I’m just a bit worried about my baby he’s almost 11 months old he shows no sign of crawling and no sign of pulling to stand I help him stand holding onto things like the couch or tables and make sure his feet are flat but I’m just worried as I suppose all the social media out there and babies doing things so much earlier. I don’t want to rush his baby years but I want to make sure as well he’s not behind he can sit on his own and has done for a while but he cannot go from lying position to sitting yet. Any thoughts or other peoples stories?

Mental Health Am I crazy for being completely overwhelmed babysitting?

I need some outside perspective on what I’m going through to know if I’m just being dramatic or if I’m valid for being at this point.

I have a 14 month old boy, and twice a week I take him to my 11 month old nephew’s house to babysit. And 90% of the days I’ve done this for I leave the house feeling maxed out, overwhelmed, and at my limit.

I try to remember the house is set up and baby proofed for my nephew, not my child. But we’re basically limited to the living room from 8am-3:30pm unless I take them on a walk.

The main area isn’t gated off so if we leave the living room the babies just get into all the books, knick knacks, and window sill decorations that the family refuses to move. And the nursery has a white noise machine on an end table, and the changing table is set up so all the diapers and creams are eye level with toddler. Outside the porch has stairs my child has already wiped out on, and the back patio is like two feet tall and has no gate at all. So I truly feel limited to the living room without constantly saying “no don’t do that/touch that” or rearranging her house.

But regardless, the babies aren’t on the same schedule. My nephew is in contact-nap only era, separation anxiety out the wazoo, and my child needs activities - not a room full of toys to get bored with.

I also am dealing with my own hormone crap, I’m incredibly irritable and get frustrated very easily and I’m trying counseling/meds which makes these two days extremely hard.

So anyway I want to tell my nephews family that I don’t want to babysit anymore. But I immediately spiral feeling like I’m just copping out bc it’s hard, and I want two kids one day so I need to figure this out. But I’m not crazy for thinking two babies, 3 months apart, is too much for one person? Idk I’m in tears by the end of the day most days. I’m not enjoying it but I talked the family into it bc they had a bad daycare experience.

My mom who was always a great babysitter keeps trying to get me to stick it out. But I just don’t have it in me. I want to leave every time I’m there. And the experience has me completely terrified to have another child.

So there’s my long rant looking for validation.

Tips to Share How do we prepare!

With winter coming and having a 4 month old that is growing the a weed how do you prepare for the winter without waiting till the last min!
He is blowing though sizes month by month! He is 4 month and in 6-9m clothes. Also baby clothes sizes are so variable! In some brands he fits 6m and 6-9 while other 6-9m is 3 inches too long sometimes he fits I. A 12m outfit just to confuse me even more! Any suggestions on how to decide what sizes to buy for winter clothing when our winter’s stretch all the way to February he is currently 4 months at 17.4lbs and around 25in tall. To get an idea of his growth rate he was 14 lbs at 2moths and not quite 24 in tall.

I don’t want to wait last minute because our weather tends to be warm one day the 30 the next so I dot. Want to be cause off guard. I don’t mind things being a little big on him just don’t want him to swim on his clothes

Also if you know some brands that are great for big babies please name drop. I feel like Carter’s is small because he is fitting 9m clothes . Also any brands that are constant in their sizing!

Pee/Poop I’m about to lose my mind — in-between diaper sizes

My 8-week old is in between newborn and size 1 — and has been producing a volcanic sized blowout EVERY TIME SHE POOPS. Every single time. I’m about to lose my damn mind. We‘ve tried Pampers, Costco brand, and Huggies size 1 diapers to no avail. (Blowouts on blowouts on blowouts.) We went back to the newborn size (Huggies), same thing. We‘ve tightened the size 1 diapers, pulling the tabs as close together as possible, and we always make sure the gussets are pulled out. I’m on my way to Costco to buy puppy pads ... but that doesn’t actually solve the blowout issue, it just helps us from having to wash the Baby Bjorn for the millionth time this week.

How did y’all get through this? Is there a good in-between diaper size brand? I will try ANYTHING.

Babies Being Babies Music together ? Thinking of pulling my kid

Has anyone been disappointed in this class? I find the instructor is notorious for forgetting the lyrics. The last class she dumped instruments on the ground and didn’t even sing to the song. I don’t know what I’m paying for right now? Are my expectations to high?

Postpartum Recovery Unbothered medical team and unplanned non-medicated birth

• Upvotes

I’m sitting here, looking at this beautiful 8 lb joy, wondering how this all happened.

Second baby, contractions about 5.5 minutes apart. I arrive at triage L&D and they say I’m only 4 cm so I can’t get a room yet. During that cervical check, I’m almost certain a non-consented membrane sweep was performed since it hurt terribly and the contractions immediately picked up.

My triage room nurse just could not be any less enthusiastic, which is fine, but I asked for at least nitrous and her response was “you said it hurts less when you’re not laying down right? So walk.” And left. There’s no pain management in L&D triage rooms apparently.

They come back 1.5 hours later and I’ve progressed to 5 cm and finally can get a room. I’m waiting another 30 minutes when my water breaks and the contractions are now extreme. I have been managing to not scream and focus on my breaths the entire time, but now, I’m losing focus. They take another 20 minutes to start moving me. At this point, I’m screaming. I know the baby is close.

We get to my room and the anesthesiologist is doing his best to get me the epidural as quick as possible. He says it will kick in about 1:10 PM. The baby was born at 1:09 PM.

I just have to wonder if this is a normal experience or was I just left out to dry because I showed up when I was supposed to… did NOT hear another woman in the ward screaming like I was, and apparently another baby was born at the same time.

I’m glad we are all happy and made it… but I’m feeling really off about how it was handled for some reason. What do you think?

Travel Tips for a long flight (9 hrs) alone with 6 month old

Hello Fellow Parents.

I will soon be taking a 9 hour flight alone with my 6 month old. Any tips for me from those experienced in doing this?

It is the first time I am air-travelling with the LO.

I already plan to take one big diaper/milk/baby bag and will try to fit my laptop and passport in that itself, somI don’t have to carry my own carry-on. But I’m sure there are many other tips you all may have for me.

Thanks in advance.

Sleep Transitional sleep sack recommendations

Hi-

Does anyone have transitional sleep sack recommendations? My girl is just now 3 months, and she definitely needs a sleep sack that will help her with her nightly wiggles. They are waking her up every 1-2 hours recently. She isn't rolling yet, but is showing some signs of curling over to her side both when awake and during those nightly wiggles, so I know a swaddle with constricted arms is off the table, but she's too wiggly in something like the zipadeezip.

Any recommendations for a sleep sack that is safe for a baby who is kind of showing rolling signs but still needs the tightness for those wiggles would be great! Thank you!

Mental Health Lost all of my patience

For the first 10 months I feel like I had more patience than God… I don’t know why it feels like it’s all gone. My baby is 11m and has started to throw tantrums it feels like. Definitely teething, I give Motrin when necessary, cold tethers, chews, snacks all of the things. I know she’s having a hard time not giving a hard time it just doesn’t change the feeling I get when she screams on end
She has stopped sleeping at night, when she doesn’t get something she wants she thrashes, when I’m laying down with her to get her down she’s flailing her arms and legs hitting my face. She falls asleep in our bed and we transfer her into the crib, there is absolutely no world in which she can fall asleep on her own unless in the car. I feel like the scream crying is literally putting me at my wits end . I do have help so I feel bad for even complaining. Sometimes I have to set her in her playpen and walk away bc the screaming makes me so upset all I can do is cry. She’s exhausted and when she’s calm and almost asleep she just opens her eyes and never actually sleeps. Simultaneously I feel like such a pos mom. I look at her and I’m like how could I ever not be patient with this precious baby, of course if she’s crying for a long period of time and I have to set her down she cries harder. It’s exhausting

Sleep My toddler's sleeping is ruining us

We are in desperate need of help!
At the end of July, our 2.5 year old started getting out of his crib so we switched him to a floor bed. The first little while in the floor bed went fine, he'd wake up every now and then but usually get back to sleep.

Now, everything feels impossible.

For the last two months or so, it takes about 45mins to get him to sleep. He used to just go into his crib and he'd fall asleep on his own, now he just gets up and bangs on his door trying to leave his room. Once he's finally asleep, he'll wake up anywhere from 4-8 times a night and refuses to go back to sleep alone. He needs to be laying with one of us, and even then it's not a guarantee that he's back to sleep soon.

We've tried taking him into bed with us, but he just yaps and tries to play the whole time. This happens every single night at our house regardless of what time he goes to bed, how warm or cool he is, what he ate before bed, and whether or not he napped that day. The only time he sleeps well overnight is at my parents' house. He has the same size bed there, and my mom does the same bedtime routine and day schedule as us!

My husband and I feel like zombies. I'm 8 weeks pregnant with our second and this is honestly just destroying me, I can't even go to work some days because I'm nearly falling asleep in the car.

Does anyone have any advice or hail maries?

Sleep How do I stop worrying about my baby’s sleep

My baby’s almost 4 months old and for a few days now he’s been up almost every other hour during the night. Before this he was such a good sleeper, only woke up at 3am and 5am for a feed. I’m assuming this is the four month regression?.. how long does this last and how do I stop worrying so much? Gosh I’m so tired and feel like as soon as I had a routine with him it went downhill.

Skills and Milestones 10 month old behind on milestones

Hi there
I’m a mom of a 10 month old who seems to be behind on milestones: he doesnt get into sitting position by himself and he doesn’t pull himself to stand unless I help. He can be sat for a minute (after having helped him into that position) but may fall forward when he tries to move. He says babababa but cannot point, doesn’t wave back and generally doesnt imitate much. I have a lot of anxiety (which I need to work on) because two of his cousins have significant development delays, and one is non verbal.
I started spiralling pretty bad when I saw the babies from his cohort (we have a group of moms who gave birth pretty much the same week) and he’s visibility quite behind.
Can you share your experience if you went through something similar? What happened with your baby afterward ? Did you get help?
We have a health visitor appointment planned on Saturday and I’ve taken an appointment with a pedeatrician. I’m worried I’m going to be dismissed.
Thank you v much
Worried mom

Sleep Baby not sleeping by himself

Not sure where to ask this… LO is now 7.5 mo. We did put a minicrib in our room, then his crib next to our bed, then cosleeping every night because he wakes up around 1AM unable to go back to sleep by himself… I think part of the problem is that he falls asleep on his bib but it has been like that since the beginning. How to change that? We thought we would transfer him in his room at 6 months but it just seems impossible now.

I read a lot about attachment and I don’t want to do sleep training or 5-10-15 but I hear from a lot of parents that we won’t have a choice at some point.

Last several weeks have been rough. There has been the regression, a cold with fever, teething and recently baby just unable to get back to sleep by himself and waking every 30 minutes and waking the parent. Recently he asks for milk also; but he clearly doesn’t need it. My partner and I don’t sleep together, we alternate who gets a good night sleep in the guess bedroom.

Do you have tips please? It makes us hesitate to have a second baby… When I hear my parents and other people from that generation who had many kids, just putting them in their room from birth sure had a lot of benefits!
