This post is for the guy who recorded Peach Momoko with meta glasses after staff EXPLICITLY TOLD US SHE WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH IT and then proceeded to post it on tiktok with the caption “finally fulfilled my bucket list”—YOU SUCK! Have a little respect. Peach went above and beyond this year for the fans despite having such a horrible experience the last time she was here. She did her best to make sure EVERYONE got a signature including all the people who didn’t win the autograph lottery in standby, and you couldn’t respect the one thing she asked of us. You’re a dick.

Only went for 1 day but felt like I got a lot of good stuff and met a lot of awesome artists/ authors.

These were all the photos of cosplays I took across all 4 days of the con. As always, real great seeing the stuff people come up with! Ramattra, Megamind and the Gundam gotta be my favorites of the bunch

There was a neat lightsaber duel going on that I wanted to post the brief video I recorded of it here (but can't since this sub doesn't allow videos)

And last of all, I got to meet Su Yin (the Hatsune Miku cosplayer) again on sunday! Love her cosplays!

NYCC seems like the EoY show for many each year, for others it's Rhode Island.

Where's everyone heading for the remainder of the year?

Honest question, I went and took my photos with people and went to booths and activities afterwards. I noticed on Instagram the same people with these big clunky cosplays that they spent thousands of dollars or hours on, are always in the same place. Are they just paying to go in and take photos, or do they enjoy the convention at some point?

I'm considering ordering some merch from the online store since I wasn't able to make it over there at the Con. But the shop link doesn't include any dimensions. How mini are we talking?

What’s the world of entertainment, media, and tech worried about?

As a debut graphic novelist (https://skyfire.adimahi.com) and the Founder+CEO of Data Product Company LLC (https://www.dataproduct.company) that developed the MARCIE platform (https://www.marcie.app) and MARCIE Books (https://books.marcie.app) discovery engine I found myself compartmentalizing a lot, but the 4 intense days were worth the time, energy, and money.

Impact on the MARCIE platform, its roadmap, and the revenue model:

TLDR - GenAI features are out.

We decided to kill the Gen AI related features from MARCIE @ #nycc

The ICP focuses on experienced and career fiction writers. None are thrilled about development and use of #GenAI. Actually there is a lot of rage about it.

MARCIE’s AI features were “safe”. You know… there if you need it don’t have to use it if you don’t want to.

Promoting these features -that are considered career killers and condoning theft- goes against the purpose, which is to help writers do more of what they love, write!

It’s time to take “safe” features out, sharpen the message, and double down on the purpose.

The writers and authors for whom MARCIE is built deserve a platform that's hyper focused on their core needs - discovery and content ownership+privacy. So that's what the platform will focus on going forward to serve the storytellers.

Reflection on panels:

I attended 3 sessions on legal aspects of protecting intellectual property, chain of title, and tax implications - GenAI has made this process even more opaque. Recursive prompts are considered as evidence of contribution to generate the story. Lawyers are very aware that creative people want to engage lawyers with the same enthusiasm they have for dental visits. They will have figure out a way to genuinely appreciate their client’s art.

How to be an imagineer when GenAI is threatening to disrupt the entire storytelling supply chain?

A session with Joe Rhode (a Disney imagineer) offered a fascinating perspective (my raw notes): People are scared out of the art. GenAI replacing people is a business problem. GenAI image generation is based on normal distribution of what something looks like. Creative people pick datapoints outside the normal distribution curve and hyper focus on it to a point where they bend the curve so they are in the curve now - don’t work alone, test your ideas, find a group of people who foster your weird little imagination, break the mold, step outside the norm, consider everything as raw material.

Revolt of the humans: a professional session by industry insiders on how they are fighting back against GenAI’s infringement including creation of tech that renders the training data useless.

My overall takeaway:

What happens with art has a deep impact on science. These two fields are now inexplicable connected and humans being treated as feeders/raw material for development of tech, both GenAI and physical AI, is the new frontier for the society to tackle.

Had a lot of con goers take photos of me all 4 days but have no separate IG account for cosplay tagging. Was wondering if anyone saw me as HR Skeletor on Thursday and my Facehugger mask the rest of the weekend.

Was there any booths that really caught your eye while at the con?

Can’t stop thinking about these Monster Cereal Muppets from NYCC at the BullAirs booth.

I felt like I was meeting royalty. I meant to make a “felt” joke by the way.

This year was genuinely so peak!! (And did anybody see me 👀👀)

I was lucky enough to get a signed Tokidoki card and sketch from Simone Legno, signed copy of Midnight X-Men #1 from Peach Momoko, a sketch variant cover of the same book and some cute plushies and my favorite bear Rilakkuma in Funko form.

Also purchased the strangest NYCC merch, the stainless steel water bottle that must hold 3 sips of water which also is a backpack charm

Hi. I know it’s after the convention, but I’m trying to figure out if there are any resources for how to report something that happened while at the convention.

What Happened:
In 2025, my boyfriend was pulled for a mini-shoot with a photographer at the con. He said it was really weird, the photographer kept touching his muscles and my boyfriend was gone for a long time. He gave the photographer his insta to get the photos and noticed he was getting lots of weird messages from him, nothing out right damning but very frequent and they felt sexual in nature.

I wasn’t there for the shoot, so I didn’t get all this info until some time later. When we talked about it, my boyfriend said afterward that he was so shocked by what was going on he that kinda just complied. He thought that maybe the guy had a learning disability or autism and didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, but that he felt groped and harassed. He ended up blocking the guy and it had been so long after the con, he decided to just let it go.

We went to the con this year. A photographer comes up to my boyfriend and immediately says “what happened to your instagram?” I didn’t recognize him but my boyfriend does. My boyfriend is clearly feeling uncomfortable and trying to cut the convo short while still being cordial. The photographer keeps trying to pull my boyfriend for a mini shoot, we decline and he grabs my boyfriends chest in front of me. Fully groped his pecs in front of me. Then, I realize who it is. Immediately, I tell the photographer we are leaving and remove my boyfriend from the situation. I ask him what he would like to do. He just wanted to avoid the guy and enjoy the rest of the convention, but now he realizes how weird it is and okayed me to report the photographer on his behalf. I still think my boyfriend doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but I hold that this IS something that is a big deal.

I don’t want my boyfriend to be worried about seeing him at the next con and I don’t want anyone else to feel cornered or groped by this guy. I tried the app and I can no longer find a report button. I can’t find any email addresses to send this info to either. I have the photographer’s instagram handle and full name. Please let me know if you have any information on how to report this to NYCC.
