Discussion & Debate🗣️ How true is this about Latinizing Muslim Scholars Name?

• Upvotes

I saw this Short (see the first comment) claiming that the West Latinized Muslim scholars’ names to erase their Islamic identity and downplay Islam’s contributions to science. How true is this claim? I never thought of it that way, never crossed my mind, but it makes sense somehow.

Quran/Hadith 🕋 I feel completely lost and disconnected from the Quran. How do I rebuild my relationship with it?

I feel completely lost and disconnected from my relationship with the Quran, and I don't feel like this is what Allah expects from me.

As a non-Arabic speaker, I don't know the language, but I have dedicated time to studying Juz Amma, and I was just about to start studying from Surah Al-Hujurat.

However, I’ve hit a wall. I feel like modern Quran studies have become a stressful race for quantity and memorization just to finish chapters, rather than focusing on transformation.

I recently learned about how Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) studied the Quran. It took him about two years just to learn Surah Al-Baqarah because he and the Companions focused entirely on beneficial knowledge (Ilm Nafi') and immediate action (Al-Amal).

They wouldn't move to the next verses until they lived by the previous ones.
Right now, I feel totally 'out of touch' and like I’m completely missing the mark. How do you manage this pressure?

How can a non-Arabic speaker break away from this race for quantity and rebuild a meaningful, action-based relationship with the Quran according to the true Sunnah?

I would love to hear your advice or personal experiences on how to shift focus from just reading/memorizing to actually living the Quran.

Dua & Advice 🤲📿 Mid 20s, can’t stop watching porn since my early teens, and it’s ruining my life. How do I break free and stay consistent? NSFW

Assalamu alaikum everyone. I’m a Muslim in my mid 20s, and I’ve been struggling with porn since my early teens, when a friend introduced me to it. It has slowly been destroying my confidence and my sense of self.

I always told myself it would go away once I got married, but I’m starting to realize I can’t depend on that. I’m unmarried, and I’ve never spoken to a woman in my life, so I feel stuck. Since sex outside marriage isn’t an option for me, porn became my go to when the urges hit.

It has also gotten worse over time. What started as regular porn escalated into other categories out of curiosity and habit, and I feel a deep sense of shame and disgust afterward every single time. I worry about where this is heading.

I’ve tried everything I could think of. I’ve deleted apps and cleared my devices, and I’ve made sincere tawbah more times than I can count, promising Allah I’d never go back. But when the urge hits, I fall again, and then I feel guilty and hopeless. My longest streak was only about a week and a half. Explicit ads and content are everywhere online, which makes it even harder.

What scares me most is that I may be wrong about the root cause. What if I marry and this is still a problem?

I’m looking for practical and spiritual advice from brothers and sisters who have been through this. What has helped you:

  • Build lasting habits, not just short streaks
  • Deal with the urges in the moment
  • Rebuild your relationship with Allah without falling into despair after a relapse
  • Handle the fear that marriage won’t fix it

JazakAllahu khayran for any advice. Please make dua for me.

Rant & Vent 😩 I'm tired. (Tw: Suicide, Mental Health.)

I might literally just hang myself right in the middle of the living room at this family reunion to prove a point that I matter and that all of you were just bystanders when I was getting bullied/abused/neglected.

When I explained my health issues to my mom and aunt. They dismissed it. And I started to get frustrated and told them that the reason why it even got to this point is because my mom and dad never took me seriously when I told them. And they let it get bad.

When I've been telling them, YEARS that I'm in pain. And when they do take me, at that point, whatever body part was affected is now too late to fix and I have to sit with it for the rest of my life. And immediately the PTSD kicked in and I immediately had a mental break down. I've gone to so many doctors across the world. Making the appointments for myself only to just be ignored when I also them to take me to go do a follow up.

I sobbed and yelled at her saying that she doesn't get it. And that my aunt (who was next to her) just watched me get beaten till black and blue and my nose bleed as a child. I'm heavily frustrated. I wish I could just, get over it. I keep remembering those moments and it doesn't help to just, come to terms with it.

I take my meds. I do what I can. But in the end, I'm not even getting support from the people around me who are supposed to love me and help me. Why do you even claim to love me if you don't even like me?

Why tell me that I'm lucky that my mother hadn't just killed me that day and that I'm lucky to have parents? Why are you even comparing me to the orphans in the orphanage that want and need parents and not comparing yourself to the couples who yearn for a child to love and be responsible for? I'm literally trying my hardest to just keep breathing. And the more I live on, the more I realize that there aren't many reasons to look forward to my future. I don't have any goal or something I want to do.

All of my future is forced on me. And when I reject the idea, all I have is to be backed into a corner and just suck it up.

And the more I want to force myself to understand and hang on. The more my arms get tired and just want to let go and drop. There isn't exactly much to hang on for.

Because when I wanna tell someone that is supposed to love me and just like me for me and not for what I can do or exist for, I just get disappointed over and over again even though I had already understood that nothing would change. And I mourn for myself the disappointment every single time I try to look for it.

Guys, please love your kids because you do and not because you have to just because it's your kid. That child is your amanah and many people want kids but don't have the Rizq to do so.

Don't compare them to the orphans in the orphanage that want and need parents and compare yourself to the couples who yearn for a child to love and be responsible for.

Because at the end of the day, there's always a kid who wanted their parents to just love them without being stuck in a limbo with the thought of whether or not their parent likes them. And no child should go through that.

I know Allah is always with me. But when the people around me, dismiss my pain with saying, Allah is always with you and to just stop crying. Calm down, and enough is enough, I lose my faith and I lose my trust in Islam.

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters.

Please make sincere dua for every victim of sexual slavery, human trafficking, sex dungeons, and sexual exploitation. May Allah grant them freedom, protection, healing, and justice, guide those responsible towards sincere repentance, and bring an end to every system that profits from human suffering.

May Allah fill our hearts with His love and mercy, protect the oppressed, and liberate every enslaved soul.

Ameen ya Rabbal Alameen.

Discussion & Debate🗣️ Brothers and sisters please take the time to read this post

Salam alaikum brothers and sisters of Islam, I hope Allah has blessed you with an amazing day :)

I’m asking you all to read this post because my goal is to hopefully remind you or even plant a seed for the growth of a new mindset.

Since May of 2025 I’ve been slapped in the face by life. It’s not even anything too serious, it was regarding “friends” who are thankfully no longer in my life. And after those events took place during the summer of 2025, I really found myself alone with a strict schedule. Work, home, gym, family/alone time. And that was my life for the remainder of 2025.

But during those months where it was just “me” I had so much time to just think and reflect, and one topic that I just gave so much thought was how blessed I was. I’m so blessed I didn’t even realize how blessed I was. And I’m going to go over a few just to give yall an idea.

Having a stable and secure roof over my head :

So many people across the world unfortunately live in such horrible conditions and environments that are not adequate to live in. But I have a roof and walls that keep that elements out and keeps the heat in.

Having a fridge and freezer full of food :

Often times I’ve heard my mother say “urghh I can’t find the ketchup because there’s so much food/ingredients in this fridge” and it kinda hit me. Like Allah has blessed me and my family so much that our fridge is packed top to bottom. Meanwhile there are so many people who are LUCKY if they eat once a day, and often times they wonder about if they’re going to even have that meal.

Having access to educational institutions :

Take for example, the women of Afghanistan. Who unfortunately are under the rule of the sick and twisted people known as the Taliban who don’t let girls/women go to school. And here I am skipping class and not giving it my all in school because “I don’t care”. Meanwhile those girls in Afghanistan would do ANYTHING just to be able to attend school.

Having proper plumbing and electrical infrastructure :

Imagine for a moment, that your toilets didn’t flush or if the kitchen sink clogged everytime you washed the dishes. Or if you’re electrical infrastructure was so outdated and un maintained that you didn’t have access to heating, or internet, or lights. Unfortunately, for many across the world they don’t have to imagine, that is their reality. And find myself complaining if the WiFi is a bit slow like really…..

Brothers and sisters what I listed up there isn’t even the tip of the iceberg, Allah has blessed me so much and so consistently it’s hard to keep track of all the blessings.

And so hopefully this post can keep you grounded and remind you of the blessings you have ! Or maybe this post plants the seed in your mind so you too can begin to recognize the many blessings you have :)

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, may Allah bless and protect each and every one of you, Ameen. :)

Question ❓ Two questions for the Chinese regime regarding the Uyghur issue

The Chinese regime initially denied the existence of the camps, but later acknowledged them (under the guise of "vocational training centers").

My question is this: If these are harmless training centers, why did you deny their existence? Why didn't you admit it from the start?

And why is it impossible for a journalist to enter these harmless training centers(!) to conduct completely independent research?

By the way, the Chinese regime's denial is understandable from a pragmatic standpoint. BUT how can Muslims turn a blind eye to an oppressed region for the sake of a regime with which we have absolutely no spiritual connection?!

Question ❓ Why Do Muslims Follow Different Madhhabs?

Thumbnail

Muslims sometimes wonder why the four well-known Sunni schools of Islamic jurisprudence—Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi‘i, and Hanbali—have different rulings on certain matters.
These schools are scholarly traditions rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah. Differences can arise from how qualified scholars evaluate evidence, interpret texts, and apply principles of Islamic jurisprudence.
Understanding these differences can help us approach matters of fiqh with greater knowledge, humility, and respect instead of turning every disagreement into an argument.
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about madhhabs?
