Help Bartonella Crisis

I’m currently treating Bartonella with Rifampin (300mg twice daily) and Clarithromycin (500mg twice daily). My doctor wants me to add Tinidazole 500mg, pulsed 3 days on and 4 days off.
I’m honestly really scarsd to. I have POTS symptoms and still struggle with severe fatigue, weakness, and neurological symptoms. Some days I can barely get out of bed, so I’m scared adding another antibiotic will make things worse.
Has anyone been on this combination or had similar concerns before starting Tinidazole? How did you tolerate it? I’m scared

Rant Seed tick bites and flu like symptoms after 2 weeks of doxy

Added I tested positive for the beef and lamb alpha-gal on day 8 but negative for the pcr panel. I know some may not be accurate due to timing, but I think Lyme is transmitted by a different tick than alpha-gal. I just feel so dizzy, nauseated, weak, sore, and beyond fatigued. I see so many specialists and they all say it's not in their lane. Emory doctors are not my favorite. I have Addison's(so steroids daily to live) celiac, venous insufficiency in my legs, had a hysterectomy and 4 hour adhelyoliosis 6 months ago, and I have a 4090ms reflux at my groin junction right where all these tick bites were yet they all think it's not something to worry about.

TESTING LYME & CO (IGG, IGM) - No Specialty Testing Available

I've been suffering classic debilitating symptoms (chronic migraines and head pressure, vertigo, hand and feet numbness, heart palpitations, dyspepsia, much more) for 7+ yrs.

Where im located, they can perform Lyme & Bartonella (IGG, IGM) testing.

Is this type of test worth it? Or skip entirely?

THANKS! In advanced.

Question Herxheimer reaction at increased medication?

So I’ve been bed bound with what I thought was long COVID for the past 10 months, recently saw a LLMD and she suggested it could actually be lymes disease. I’m gonna have some blood tests done in a couple of weeks but she’s put me on minocycline in the lead up.

For the first week I was on 100mg a day which was fine, I felt a bit more tired but my headaches got a lot better. I then went up to 2 x 100mg a day evenly spaced, felt ok for the first 12 hours then started having big time fatigue, high heart rate, mild fever, and anxiety. I went back down to single dose for a day and the symptoms got better so I tried going back to double and they came back again.

Does this sound like a herxheimer reaction? And will the 1 x 100mg a day be sufficient to still impact the lymes?

Support Suspected Babesia (Odocoilei)

I got bit 3.5 months ago. Had severe acute symptoms, fever, head pressure, drenching night sweats, and the worst of which, extreme insomnia. That first week was 5 sleepless nights in a row. Landed me in the ER, had positive IgM Lyme test.

Because of the sweats and insomnia I got on Atovaquone and Azithromycin for 10 days, alongside Doxy for 6 weeks. Felt better for a few weeks until I hit a relapse off meds.

I’ve been back on them, Malarone, Azithromycin, and Doxy for 8 weeks. On week 7 now. Currently still have terrible insomnia and air hunger for a while now. Some nights I don’t sleep at all, even on Trazadone, Gabapentin, and Melatonin.

Decided to seek a LLMD, James Thatcher in Wisconsin. He’s ramping me up to take: Ivermectin, Plaquenil, Baikal Skullcap, Samento, Artemesinin, and Boluoke.

The Babesia Microti test just came back negative so now I’m super worried I have Odocoilei (Live in Wisconsin)

Does anyone have advice? What do you think of the new treatment protocol? My Dr does not have access to Tafenoquine and can test through Igenex but not T Labs.

Just got diagnosed for Lyme

Found a bullseye rash this morning that didn’t itch. Took a picture and sent it to my PCP who told me I have Lyme and prescribed an antibiotic for 14 days because I had symptoms I was not aware were caused by Lyme (headaches, night sweats, dizziness, nausea and joint pain).

Anything I should look out for?

I have a small rotator cuff partial tear and a pinched nerve in my back. How do I tell whether my pain is due to that or Lyme?

Need LLMD to treat Babesia in New England with herbs + RX meds

I’ve already seen Dr. B in Ashford, CT and Dr. S in Bridgeport CT. Neither could help me. I need an LLMD who will put me on the actual recommended doses for these meds and not a lowered dose.

Open to anyone within 2 hours of central CT.

Question Is the name why people don’t take us seriously?

this is a bit more of a silly/random thing that crossed my mind today I thought you all might appreciate. do you think people in our lives may not take our symptoms and challenges as seriously because our disease has such a silly name? like cancer is almost a powerful name id that makes sense. Parkinson’s. MS. But then were like… a fruit LOL. what do you guys think?

Starting Buhner

Hey all,

I’m about to start the Buhner protocol and am realizing there’s a tricky thing to it —

He suggests ranges of possible dosages, but emphasizes that this is a very individual process where you kind of have to deduce for yourself how you react to each herb.

Makes sense, but if you’re on 6 or 10 herbs at once, how are you supposed to tell which herb may be causing which symptom/reaction? That’s a lot of variables, hard to determine cause and effect, no?

Do people tend to start on 1-2 herbs at a time, get a sense for them, then slowly add the others? Or start at the absolute lowest dose of everything, then gradually go up in dosage across the board? Even that latter option seems prone to a lack of clarity as to what’s causing what effect…

Thanks in advance —

Finally found a decent source

I’ve been using regular cistus for months mainly due to the inability to find a good source and to be honest I think that’s why I haven’t really seen a change. Anyways fast forward to 2 weeks ago I discovered this wild picked organic cistus from the rocky eastern parts of Crete and it’s finally arrived!

I know polyphenol content is key when it comes to cistus and after taking a look at this cistus compared to my old batch it really shows. The crystalline structures are crazy on this one lol.

I’ve heard people tel me biopure or ki science is the best but I don’t think that’s true. The reason those are deemed the best is because MOST Cistus aren’t wild picked and aren’t exposed to arid harsh conditions so anything that realistically fits those criteria can be deemed “the best”.

What dose should I start at for let’s say a 1 litre batch of tea.

Question False negative test? Started Doxy

Hello! Would love a bit of advice because I’ve seen two GPs who haven’t been able to give much outside of NHS standard protocol.

Context overall is that the last few weeks have also been a period of extreme stress, I take an SSRI and have had long covid until I pretty much recovered around 10 months ago.

Timeline:

12 September: Bitten by 4 ticks (roughly poppy seed size, one was larger maybe nymph size and completely flat - all likely on me ~24 hours). Removed with tweezers

Around 22 September: no rash, felt unusually exhausted, called GP, ordered blood test.

28 September: blood test, result next day negative. Experiencing brain fog

3 October: Very stressful day, still fatigued, started experiencing brain tingling and bad headaches

8 October: Headaches and tingling not going away, concerned about Lyme, no visible rash. Had neck stiffness and soreness but not to the extent that I can’t bend down my head. Started a 21 day doxycycline course as GP couldn’t assure me either way.

I feel pretty confused about all of this, and worried about getting another chronic illness after somehow managing to mostly recover from long covid.

Could these symptoms be Lyme or the other things ticks can pass on without the rash?

Is it worth trying to see a Lyme specialist?

When would it make sense to do a second blood test?

Thank you!!

Question Lyme test came back negative

I did the galaxy 3 day triple draw and my results came back negative. I feel discouraged as I’ve been trying to find an answer to all my symptoms that I’ve been dealing with for years and still can’t get help. My symptoms include hair loss in patches and diffuse on scalp, eyebrow, and beard area, burning mouth, popping jaw, numbness in hands and feet, stiff neck and arthritis, anxiety, depression, brain fog, fatigue. Don’t know where to go from here but appreciate any advice.

Question False positive after a few months?

I had a suspect rash on my inner thigh in May, and since I get bitten by ticks all the time, I went to doctor who gave me antibiotics (10 days doxy) over the phone. Became quite ill (deep fatigue, and intense head, neck and shoulder pain) but when I saw the doctor a few days later she dismissed my rash as a friction burn but advised me to get a blood test 6 weeks later.

The whole interaction was a bit off and I got the feeling she thought I was anxious about being bitten by a tick, not realising I’m bitten all the time and was just concerned about the rash (and by that point, all the pain). I have a tendency to minimise my ill health and by the time 6 weeks rolled around I’d talked myself out of it being Lymes, probably just chub rub and a sinus infection.

In September, I needed to go in to get my iron checked and the nurse flagged I was still due a Lymes test so she took bloods for that too. Just found out it came out positive but the doctor says because it’s been over 3 months it could well be a false positive.

Is that likely? I’m sort thinking with the rash, the pain and the positive test that it seems pretty conclusive? Ive received treatment and I’m fine now, so probably doesn’t matter too much, I’d just like to know.

Question How do you know you have Lyme?

How did you all figure out you had Lyme?

I am diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy, gastroporesis, dysautonomia, raynauds.

I doubt it is to do with Lyme but need to rule it out. I've had many tests including recently an in depth virbrant Lyme test. Is that enough? I heard common tests aren't that good and have a lot of false negatives.

But all PCRs are negative so I'm good, right? What Dr would i need to see for this and is there one that's not super expensive?

My only symptoms are Neuro symptoms and I can’t find any supplements that actually clear my brain and work

I have tried the following: liposomal glutathione, burber pinella, dandelion, NAC, curcumin, broccoli extract , lemon, ACZ zeolite spray, Epsom salt bath, and more.

Any suggestions? Will try anything at this point.

Thymosin Alpha 1 Experiences & Dosing

Hi everyone. I'm going to be starting thymosin alpha 1, and my doctor has me doing the full 1.5 mg dose twice per week right off the bat. Normally I'd be fine with that, but I think I've read other comments where people said they started low and gradually increased. If you've tried it, did you start at 1.5 mg? What was your full dose? Did it help you, particularly with immune tolerance/inflammation?

Question Babesia and bart positive on Igenex,

Hopefully I can get some replies within the next hour.

Just got my almost 9 year old’s Igenex results. She texted negative on these in Feb 2025, but is now positive for FISH Babesia and for Bart immunoblot igg “bartonella genus positive”, and positive Bart quintana.

What questions do I ask the doctor??! Results were just emailed
To me for our appt at noon.

She has been on daily azithromycin since Feb 2025 for high mycoplasma, when she basically had a bunch of neuro symptoms explode. She’s “ok” now, still not 100%, like for instance, her eye exam is perfect but she “can’t see” while doing homework or reading,
Rubs her eyes, says words are blurry. I’m in shock. We live in the city and are not outdoorsy people at all. I never would’ve thought.

Question What can that be?

I’ve already written quite a few posts here, but I’ve noticed some new symptoms. To summarize:

- The first symptoms appeared 8 days after the tick bite and after I squeezed the tick while removing it (typical flu-like symptoms; fatigue persists to this day, though it’s less severe now, along with breathing difficulties and eyes that tire easily)

- 13 days after the bite, I started antibiotic therapy

- I’m on day 21 of doxycycline

I’ve noticed slight breathing difficulties when speaking; I run out of breath fairly quickly, and it feels as if my larynx is slightly constricted. Also, from time to time, I’ve had very cold feet and hands with mild chills that subsided after a while later that same day. I’m missing quite a few symptoms indicative of Babesia, especially since I definitely feel better than I did at the beginning. I’ve been prescribed 30 days of doxycycline, and I’m wondering what steps to take next. And if it could be Babesia or simply infections related to Borrelia and organism fighting with it.

I’ll be extremely grateful for any responses.
