Rust Check? Too much rust? Not enough rust? Ask Here!
Hi All,
We are going to try to consolidate the pre purchase or otherwise rust inquires asking if a rig has too much rust and how to approach it as far as shopping for a new to you truck and beyond.
We have a lot of these threads where people are asking the same questions and rather than have each thread die on the vine as far as useful information goes, by having them all right here in one thread, people can use it as a catalog or guide for what to look for and if people are willing to share sold or bought prices for each truck that we are inspecting, we can all use this as a tool to gauge the market and also the wide variety of condition that all generations of Land Cruisers are in at any given point in time.

New to me 2020 LX570.
Had been searching for a minute when I came across this 2020 LX560 with 17K miles. Already love it. Coming from a 2012 Subaru Outback 6 speed manual transmission this car is an upgrade. Keeping my Subaru because It has sentimental value and I love driving a manual transmission. The LX 570 has parchment interior, wanted the red leather but this car was too good to be true. Picked it up from Alabama and drove it home to Arkansas last night. Picture taken at rest stop.

New Fuel System Installed
Been battling a vapor lock issue when I get below 1/4 tank of gas and running in hot conditions. I’d lose power over 2,500 RPMs. I had replaced the fuel pump with a “Toyota” pump from EBay, which didn’t solve the issue. So I went ahead and replaced my rusty tank and everything else in the fuel system. New tank, new hanger, new sending unit, new pump, all hoses replaced, new breather, new fuel filter, new fuel pressure regular, etc. Here’s hoping the issue is resolved!

To be fair, an FJ60 was not something I was expecting on my street
mid July of 2023.
Randomly saw this, while heading home with dinner.

How would you go about fixing this? (LC 100, 2001)
Any ideas how could I fix this leather the became unglued. I wonder why this happened. Maybe the leather shurnk because of the sun? Though the was dismanteled for painting and maybe got damaged in the process. I wonder if should even try gluing the are back somehow.
Another thing is the cracking wood protection lacquer. I can get the wheel rewrapped, but I wonder what I could do with the wood part.

Collapsed Fuel Fill Hose
On Vacay going to the beach and i can't get fuel to go into the tank. All of a sudden, no warning. Check the fill tube , it's steel, but a 20 some inch section after the steel fill pipe is rubber. It looks not right. And it's failed. There's a liner inside that's collapsed. Part should be at dealer tomorrow and I've got just enough gas to get the 30 miles. 1999 LX470 235k mi. I thought I knew everything about this truck. *photo of hose is from ih8mud. Mine is in situ, looks exactly like this.

New Safety Recall RN5 (XN5) – 2024–2027 Land Cruiser
I own a 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 in Canada, and today I found a new safety recall notice on my Toyota app.
Recall: RN5 (XN5) – Fuel Line Connector
According to Toyota, a fuel line connector near the fuel tank may detach, causing fuel to leak until the engine shuts off. If the fuel comes into contact with an ignition source, it could cause a fire.
The app currently displays "No solution available." Toyota is still preparing the necessary parts and repair instructions.
I've searched online but haven't found much information about this recall yet.

Help identifying part name/#
Does anyone know the name or even part number for these end cap things? I circled the part in red, and there’s a picture of the passenger side that’s missing. Been trying all sorts of google searches with no luck. Found aftermarket “end caps” but hoping to replace with OEM or as close as possible. Thanks!

Do you need the skid plate over the gas tank on a 100 series to be fully dialed?
Hello! I just got a 100 series go very cheap because friends wanted it to go to a good home and it’s too rusty for a family car but perfect for a dirtbag like myself. It has a fuel leak and I got a new tank on Rock auto but I’m wondering f I should replace this skid plate too? It’s rusting off but it does have a layer between it and the tank so I believe the new tank will be protected from being rusted. A new one is over 200 on eBay so not super motivated to spend on it.
If I go the dirtbag route I’ll keep what’s left of it on so the spacing with the straps is correct.
