Announcement Mod Note: Updating Rule 5 on Repetitive Posts
Hi all. Thanks to your feedback, we’re making an update to Rule 5 on what counts as a repeat post, and we want to make sure we adequately explain how the mod team enforces this rule.
Here’s the relevant new language:
Moderators may use their discretion to limit engagement bait and posts on specific topics if/when they become increasingly repetitive.
As it stands, we define a repeat post as one made when the same topic has already been discussed on another post within the last 48 hours. We decided on a 48 limit because Reddit’s algorithms make it such that typically by the 48 hour mark, a post’s visibility essentially drops zero, as seen here:

So generally speaking, if a repeat post is made within 48 hours, the mod team will remove it. (There may be rare exceptions for submissions that are well written or reasonably contribute to discussion in a manner suited for its own separate post as opposed to being a comment on the existing post.)
However, there are some topics that become increasingly and/or consistently repetitive. In these cases, depending on how things are going, the mod team may decide to require a longer time frame between posts on such topics. Perhaps as much as a week or longer. Topics that currently fall under this category include:
- Photos and videos of Ana de Armas, particularly when the post contains nothing but the photo or video itself and makes no effort to generate substantive discussion.
- Photos of Bond girls generally, again without written text that demonstrates an effort to generate discussion. Often times, these posts are made by adult content accounts and amount to hornyposts that don’t attract the kind of discourse this subreddit seeks to foster.
- Photos of old man Pierce Brosnan. Yes. We get it. He aged well. We don’t need to see the same photo of him standing in front of an Aston Martin posted over and over again.
- Old memes (e.g. “Biscuits. Cheese Biscuits.” or Le Chiffre playing Hungry Hungry Hippos).
- “Who’s your favorite Bond actor?” and “What's your favorite Bond movie?” posts, particularly when there is no further elaboration.
- Common “hot take” subjects (e.g. “Quantum of Solace is underrated!” or “the first half of Die Another Day is actually good!”).
- Movie ranking posts that include no further explanatory notes nor something to distinguish it from the usual plain text lists or Tiermaker graphics.
- News items / Bond 26 production updates that have already been discussed.
- Common Bond 26 topics. Such as low effort casting suggestions ("how about [insert photo of actor wearing a tux] for the next Bond?") or story ideas ("should the next movie be a period piece set in the 60s?") Note however that this matter is addressed in its own separate rule (Rule 7).
We want to make clear that none of these topics are banned; only that they are consistently repetitive and therefore may be subject to limits beyond the 48 hour base standard of what counts as a repeat post.
..............................................................
The updated rule language also mentions “engagement bait.” We define this as posts that are primarily engineered not to generate discussion, but instead to gain upvotes (in other words, karmafarming). There is often overlap between this and some of the topics listed above. For example “Ana de Armas is so hot and is the best part of No Time to Die!” or “Does anyone else agree Casino Royale is a masterpiece??” Engagement bait might also occur when users re-share existing social media video edits and the like.
If the mod team notices a user consistently making these kinds of posts, then we may remove their posts as repetitive engagement bait. Especially if the user has little history of participation elsewhere on the sub.
..............................................................
Here’s the newly updated Rule 5 in full:
Avoid Making Repetitive Posts:
Before creating a new submission, be sure to check if your topic is being discussed on another recent post. If so, share your thoughts by commenting on the existing post rather than creating a new one.
Users should refrain from making more than two new posts per day.
Moderators may use their discretion to limit engagement bait and posts on specific topics if/when they become increasingly repetitive.
These rules will encourage meaningful submissions and help keep the main feed tidy.
Thank you for reading. Hopefully this improves the quality of life a bit on our sub. And please do comment below if you have any thoughts or questions.

What is your favorite Bond related advert/Commercial/Trailer?

My absolute favorite Bond ad has to be the Heineken for Skyfall. It's not just a standard ad with a logo on screen. This one actually feels like a mini film. It's got the snow, the trains, the action and Daniel Craig doing what he does best, being Bond. There's Bérénice Marlohe in there too providing that very typical Bond girl touch. It really does capture the feel of Skyfall perfectly.
I've seen a fair few Bond trailers, a fair few drink trailers/commercials and game promos. Some are good. Some are pretty cool. This one? That one genuinely feels like it belongs in the film. It's not a commercial for a drink at all. It's like a story. I was watching it and I thought "this is peak Bond advertising" It's not all about being flashy. It has purpose, it has style and it has that Bond attitude.
(Also who doesn't love a surprise appearance from our dearest Dr No, a brilliant nod to the past if you ask me).
So now i ask, whats your favorite and why? Any answers welcome.

Sean Connery’s weight gain could have been a great way to show how he had deteriorated after what happened at the end of the OHMSS. DAF should have been darker and more serious with Bond emotionally broken. It would have made for a much more powerful final outing for Connery as 007.

what have you done today to make me feel proud, 007?

Dumb stunt
Sometimes they use someone else for an scene because the main actor was not easily available.
Pierce running on top of the damn
Goldfinger walking down some stairs
Both cases ironically are the actors into!!!!
Know of others?

Roger Moore’s finest moment as 007, on the anniversary of his birth

For me, him carrying Stacey out of the inferno in AVTAK is James Bond’s most heroic moment in the entire franchise. To the John Barry score, with the crowds including the tramp on the street, I get absolute chills every single time. What an amazing way to exit the franchise! When they applaud him, it’s like the audience applauding Roger for his contribution. What’s his finest moment in the role for YOU?

Fleming novels - 1960s Turkish editions
Meant to share these awhile ago; was in Turkey and stumbled into a used bookstore in Büyükada (of the Princes Islands off of Istanbul), and found these little gems.
Printed in 1965.
First book “Dokuz Canli Adam” is Live and Let Die (the translation is The Man with Nine Lives)
Second book Royal Kumarhanesi is Casino Royale (translation is Royal Casino)
Third book “Rusyadan Sevgiletle” is From Russian with Love (translation is With love from Russia)
They’re all pretty beat up, Casino Royale is missing its back cover, each book has various written notes and highlighted passages. But overall it was find to find these while randomly browsing this shelves.

Favourite Bond Girl Pairing In A Film?
I know Christmas Jones gets a lot of criticism, but I honestly love the combination of Denise Richards and Sophie Marceau in The World Is Not Enough.
Which Bond girls pairing would you pick?

Bond sure has a thing for getting tied to a chair.

James Bond Discussion Series #26 — The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)
Back again with another Bond-related discussion — although today we're doing something a little different. We're talking about The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
Now, I know this technically isn't a James Bond movie, but since Pierce Brosnan played 007, I thought it would be interesting to discuss another one of his films. 😂
The movie follows Thomas Crown, a wealthy and sophisticated businessman who steals a priceless painting from a museum. Catherine Banning, an insurance investigator, is brought in to investigate the theft, leading to a game of cat and mouse between the two.
With its stylish atmosphere, clever heist, mystery, and chemistry between the leads, The Thomas Crown Affair offers a different look at Brosnan outside of his role as James Bond.
What are your thoughts on The Thomas Crown Affair?
What do you most like about the film?
What do you most dislike about the film?
What do you think of Pierce Brosnan's performance as Thomas Crown?
What do you think of Rene Russo's performance as Catherine Banning?
What do you think of the chemistry between the two leads?
What do you think of the heist and mystery elements?
What do you think of the film's style, music, and overall atmosphere?
How does Pierce Brosnan's portrayal of Thomas Crown compare to his portrayal of James Bond?
Have you seen the original 1968 version, and if so, how does it compare to the 1999 remake?
Curious to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions.
And yes, I know this technically isn't part of the James Bond film series. Consider this a little Bond-related bonus discussion. 😂
One quick note: I'm posting from a different account, so some of you might recognize me from my other Bond discussions!

Meeting James Bond
On Sir Roger Moore's birthday I thought of this anecdote from British screenwriter Marc Haynes (@marchaynes on X) of meeting him both as a boy and as an adult. Apologies if you have seen this before; but for me the story is testament to what a fantastic character Sir Roger was - both on and off-screen....

TIL the MI5 chief can almost pass off as Bond
Saw him in the news today. With the benefit of flattering camera angles and alot of hair gel, Ken McCallum kinda has that Bond image about him. Classic old-blood British aristocrat vibe (he's not), and that hair would probably be the best we'd seen since Dalton lol.
Better still, a born and bred Scottish, with reportedly a lot of “field experience” in Northern Ireland.
Just kind of a joke post I guess. God I can't wait to see the next Bond. Have a good one guys.

Team Deakins Podcast: Turning The Tables - Skyfall
Over on the Team Deakins podcast, Cinematographer Adam Bricker (Hacks, Chef's Table) interviews Roger and James Deakins about their work on Skyfall, logistical challenges, the creative intentions behind the vision for the film, and how the cast and crew filmed a globe-trotting adventure almost entirely in the UK.
