Before & After Results. Tray 1 vs tray 32 - does this look good?

Im on tray 32 out of 34 - I’m not sure if I’m satisfied… of course I will need cleaning and I’m also thinking about whitening but I feel like my teeth aren’t straight enough… should I enquire about refinements? I’m a bit of an anxious and shy person and speaking up or showing dissatisfaction isn’t easy for me so I’m worried I won’t be able to tell my orthodontist that I feel like my teeth aren’t straight enough…

Question Last tray.. am I tracking?

Post image

I just popped in my last tray, 14/14, tonight!! I’m a little concerned about the spaces between my teeth and the trays.

I’m also wondering if the tooth next to my top left front tooth will rotate a little more so it faces forward. Has anyone had a similar experience with their last tray and ended up needing refinements?

General How did you choose who to go with for Invisalign in London?

Planning to get a Invisalign in London but don’t have anyone around me who I can ask for a recommendation. How did you find your provider? Was there anything at the consultation that helped you decide?

Question Question if I really need refinements

Post image
6 Upvotes

Alright bear with me. I just visited my ortho yesterday to get my final tray (14/14). While there, he told me everything looked really good, including my bite. He then asked me how I felt about refinements and said there were a few things he would fix if I wanted to, but didn’t absolutely need to. After some back and forth and some pushing I finally got him to tell me that the thing he would fix is the small gap between my front left tooth and the lateral incisor beside it.

Now looking at my teeth, I see what he means, but it’s not a huge gap. After 14 trays at two weeks each, and a pause in the middle where I wore one tray for 5 weeks, i’m only sitting at about 6 months so far, but I absolutely HATE these things. I thought it would get better over time buts it’s gotten worse, and I really really just want to be done. It would be another minimum of 3 weeks if not more waiting for the new trays to come in, and then at the minimum another 3 months, and that’s if I only get 6 refinement trays. And then I still have to wear the retainer daily for minimum 3 months, which i’m already dreading too.

Part of me wants to just suck it up and get the refinements, make sure it’s perfect, but a larger part of me looks at my teeth and are happy, and i’m wondering if it’s worth going through the pain and annoyance for a very small cosmetic issue.

Can I just get some thoughts and opinions?

(Obviously I will need some bonding on my front tooth that has chipped, and i’m in desperate need of some whitening once this is all over 🫠)

Question First full day

Hey everyone just hit my first 24 hrs with Invisalign. I feel like I’m constantly thinking about them in my mouth and how they feel, which makes sense it’s completely new . But at what point, if ever, will that feeling go away or does it always feel like you have something attached to your teeth all day? Thanks!

I’m almost done with my second set of refinements. Would you keep going? I feel like my canines and my laterals are not where I want them.. or am I being too picky? TIA!

Treatment Progress Week 2: I love how snuggly the new tray is

After posting several anxious question posts last week, I'd like to say something positive.

Yesterday was the last day of Tray 1, and it felt so soft and loose. It wasn't moving around or anything, but I was feeling almost no pressure on my teeth anymore. When I changed to tray 2 this morning, I feel surprisingly satisfied with how snuggling it is. I also had issues with how my inner lips were irritated by the attachments or the sharp ends of the tray, and I was worried that the new tray would bring those issues back, but I don't feel it so far.

By the way, any specific things I might want to check when I change a tray? To see if it fits well, to see if I'm on track, etc?

Question Self filing teeth at home during Invisalign? And no in person appointments… Help

I have been advised by my orthodontic practice that following my relocation many miles away and being unable to travel back to that practice at all, that I can complete my entire Invisalign treatment remotely using AI monitoring.

I have also been provided with diamond strips and instructed to manually file between my own teeth at home.
Is this considered safe and appropriate practice or should my case be transferred to a local orthodontist? I am only on Tray 1 and I informed the practice of my relocation before my aligners had even arrived.

Question Teeth whitening

I’m on my 7th tray (weekly changes) and I hate the color of my teeth. My teeth got so yellow or maybe I’m overreacting but there is definitely change in color and I’m so disturbed. It’s impossible for me to see my orthodontist until end of december since I’m abroad. Do you guys think if it’s harmful to get teeth whitening mid treatment? I have 13 more trays (minimum) and idk if I can keep looking at those yellow teeth anymore. Or I maybe I’m super aware of my teeth and overreacting…

Also I feel like my teeth looks worse right now. I started using Invisalign for impacted canine and my ortho wanted to fix my other minor issues too and now I feel like my smile changed in a worse wat
I’m adding photos from the early phase of the treatment and now.

General Experience with minor Invisalign?

Hi I had braces growing up and have worn my retainer religiously. But my dentist noticed some of my teeth shifting I got quoted $1850 for a 14week-16week plan. Has anyone who has done Invisalign for minor treatments thinks it’s worth it? I do feel like my bite is slightly off but I would rather correct the small gaps now rather than later on.

Question Wrong tooth extracted

TLDR:: general dentist extracted tooth 26 but was supposed to extract 25. Aligners have both 25 & 26 in them but 26 has an attachment. I’m on tray 2 & looking ahead to tray 6 it looks like tooth 26 is being brought forward as if it’s still there & tooth 25 is disappearing like it’s not there. Tried to explain to orthodontist but he said trays look good. Is he right or should I be concerned?

Hey everyone, I’m totally new to Invisalign & looking for input from anyone who understands how the trays are manufactured & mapped or may have experienced something similar.

I have substantial crowding of my lower front teeth with tooth 26 most noticeably misaligned & sitting back behind the others. My scan showed that treatment could be done without an extraction & it could bring 26 forward & make room for it but my ortho strongly felt an extraction was needed. 26 was the obvious choice but we ultimately decided on 25 because of some gum loss & sensitivity & felt it would be better to get rid of a tooth that was likely going to be a problem anyway. So I was referred out, had the extraction done & when I got home & took the gauze out I saw the dentist extracted 26. But again I was referred for 25.

Fast forward to when I got my trays, all of the teeth are on the tray which the ortho said was for cosmetic reasons even though I was a little disappointed because I preferred the small gap from the extraction vs a sometimes noticeable crooked tooth I’ve been trying to hide since it came in.

Anyway, two assistants worked on me that day & as did the orthodontist who showed me how the teeth were going to shift & the final tray (through the plastic baggy) showing me how even though I’d only have the 3 front teeth it wouldn’t be noticeable & he sent me home with my first 6 trays with instructions to schedule the next appointment on my last tray which will be in December.

I am now on my second tray & I just do not feel like this is right. It’s not sitting like my top. It sounds like I have something in my mouth when I talk. It’s fraying & digging into my gums & tongue. I can see spit bubbles around the top of the aligners on my front teeth but they aren’t going down to the gum line or even close on one of them. It’s like the extracted tooth is completely messing up how it’s sitting. Plus while it was painful for my tongue & gums, it has not hurt my bottom teeth at all. While my top teeth were pretty painful the first 2 days.

When making the aligners does the orthodontist have to specify if a tooth is going to be extracted & if so, provide the CORRECT one? I just feel like the teeth would have to shift differently to close a gap vs pull a tooth forward?

I did call the orthodontist & he brought me in immediately the next morning when the office was closed. Which is another issue—they are only in the office in my town 1 day a week & I am having surgery in 2 weeks & don’t know how long the recovery will be so that gives me 2 Mondays to get this resolved if needed. He looked in my mouth & told me they were seated beautifully & explained how to file the sharp edges. & on Monday when I took my son to his appointment he asked me how they were feeling & told me to bring them in if they still didn’t fit right. But I just don’t know what fit right means? Or is supposed to feel like? And I clench my teeth horribly so I honestly believe I could make anything “sit beautifully” on my back teeth which is what he was looking at.

Since then I just pulled out all the aligners & compared the shift that is going to happen & a) tooth 26 which is not in my mouth has an attachment on it & b) from what I can tell it looks like the track is to bring 26 forward, it almost looks like it’s turning 25 sideways & then it just disappears so I’m assuming that’s because the aligner thinks 25 is extracted so is viewing it as a gap?

Am I misunderstanding how this works? The orthodontist is so sweet. & he has 40 years of experience & knows his stuff. But he’s old & is forgetful & does misunderstand things sometimes. I’m not questioning that he knows how to do his job, but I’m questioning if he is going by memory on something that he’s not remembering correctly? We did discuss the wrong tooth being pulled & he said he knew & normally he’d be upset but since he just needed any tooth to come out, it didn’t matter. But does it? I really don’t want to question him AGAIN, if I’m just misunderstanding how orthodontia in general works. But I’m extra concerned because tooth 25 isn’t as stable as the rest of my teeth & I don’t want it being treated as if it’s not there.

Any guidance, suggestions, reality checks, explanations, what is/isn’t normal would be really appreciated.

Treatment Progress Should I be concerned?

Post image
• Upvotes

I am on week 11 out of 16 weeks of refinements following 18 weeks of initial treatment. Everything has gone fine until these two weeks. Last week my aligners felt very tight when I put them in. I wore them a good bit, but they hurt so badly that I found myself leaving them out an hour or two at a time just to give myself a break from the pain. They were way tighter than most other new week starts.

I went ahead and switched on my normal swap day (yesterday), and they’re so painful I almost can’t bear to keep them in. I went back to last weeks.

Are these tracking properly?

Any other advice?

Anyone else quit using Dental Monitoring? I hate that app so much I had to stop, I know its a real person but I feel like I am talking to a chat bot. My kid never used it and had the most stress free experience.

Question Question about new tray: Do you ever feel like there's something stuck in your teeth even when there isn't anything?

I had this for the first time today, when I changed to my second tray. I have the same feeling as when a piece of apple is stuck between my teeth. It's one specific tooth and I've never had it before. Has that happened to anyone else?

I can't help but constantly try to clean it with my tongue, but of course I just touch the plastic.

hi there,

Ive noticed sunken temples on myself since starting treatment (3 months in). Is this related to the invisalign, and will it go back to normal once completed?

Question Can I trim vivera retainers myself?

Hi, I just got new vivera retainers. They were done to go all the way back to my wisdom teeth (my previous retainers stopped at my second molars).

I called my ortho office but they are closed until Monday, and I'm having horrible jaw pain when I wake up because of the pressure of the retainers going all the way back to my wisdom teeth.

Can I trim my retainers with a cuticle cutter to remove the wisdom teeth portion?

Question Moving provinces - on refinements

I am going to be moving provinces (BC to AB) in the next few weeks. I have already paid 100% for my Invisalign, we are just about to start another set of refinements, hopefully before I move.

My question is: should I transfer to a local ortho, or stay with my current provider? I’m mostly hoping to hear if anyone has done something similar and how much transferring could cost, especially since I’ve already paid for my treatment. I could fly back to my current provider for a day trip, however it will be around $150-200 every time.

Please let me know :)

Question After treatment retainers?

Hi all,

I'm 7 weeks and alighners away from end of my journey and seen great results.

I noticed upon start of my journey with my coordinator they said at end of journey you get a night guard but also can get retainers per arch at £300 each.

Ive used another teeth straightening company before invisalign and although it worked it just regressed when I finished and had to just wear the night alighners, company was then bought out and I would've had to pay again to be reassessed.

Should I pay for the retainers, what happened at end of treatment if they regressz?
