Hey everyone!
Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I'm relatively new to actually playing 40k and have decided to jump into Imperial Knights because, well, giant stompy robots are awesome.
I've been building up my collection and putting together a few lists, but I'm still learning how to actually play the army effectively. I'm mostly going to be playing casual games with friends, but obviously I'd still like to win a few!
Here's my current collection:
1x Cerastus Knight Lancer
2x Cerastus Knight Castigator
1x Cerastus Knight Acheron
1x Knight Defender
1x Knight Gallant
1x Knight Paladin
3x Armiger Helverins
6x Armiger Warglaives
Here's the list I'm currently wanting to run:
"Size Does Matter" — 1,985 points
Imperial Knights
Freeblade Company (3 Detachment Points)
Purge the Foe — Strike Force (2,000 points)
Cerastus Knight Castigator — 380 pts
Castigator bolt cannon
Tempest warblade
Cerastus Knight Lancer — 445 pts
Cerastus shock lance
Enhancement: Bringer of Justice
Knight Defender — 410 pts (Warlord)
Conversion beam obliterator
Phosphor blaster
Plasma executor
Twin incendine combustor
Enhancement: Hunter's Eye
Knight Gallant — 375 pts
Reaper chainsword
Thunderstrike gauntlet
Enhancement: Sanctuary
Knight Paladin — 375 pts
Rapid-fire battle cannon
Reaper chainsword
Total: 1,985/2,000 points
Now, before everyone tells me to bring more Armigers, I know! 😂
I'm fully aware that running five big Knights probably isn't the most competitive way to play. But there's just something hilarious about putting five massive Knights on the table and telling my opponent to deal with it.
That said, I would still like to make the list as effective as possible.
A few things I'd love some advice on:
How would you approach playing a five-big-Knight list? Any particular deployment or positioning tips?
What are some common mistakes new Knights players make that I should avoid?
How do you handle objectives and scoring when you have so few models?
Are there any changes you'd make to my list using the models I already own?
If I wanted to put together a more balanced or competitive 2,000-point list from my collection, what would you recommend?
I'll primarily be playing against Dark Angels, Grey Knights, Tyranids, and World Eaters, along with whatever else my friends decide to throw at me.
I'm not looking to win tournaments or anything. I just want to have fun, get better at the game, and occasionally watch a giant robot absolutely flatten something.
Any tips, tricks, strategies, or general advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance, and praise the Omnissiah!
