Study Permit What Are My Chances of Getting a Canadian Study Permit in 2026/2027 as an Iranian Student?

Hi everyone! I'm a 20-year-old Iranian student planning to apply to Seneca or Fanshawe College for an IT-related program in Canada.

My high school GPA is 17.46/20, and I previously studied computer engineering at university for 1–2 semesters. I don't currently have an IELTS certificate and may receive a conditional offer with a language prerequisite.

My parents will sponsor me. I have around CAD 20,000 in savings, and my mother owns property in Iran and receives rental income.

Based on my situation, what do you think my realistic chances of getting a Canadian study permit are in 2026/2027?

I'd appreciate honest opinions, especially from Iranian applicants or anyone with a similar profile. Thank you!

Family Sponsorship Will we still considered common law if I work 2 weeks on-off in a different province?

• Upvotes

Will my partner and I still be considered common law (living together for more than 12 months) if the entirety of that time I work in a different province for 2 weeks and come back home for 2 weeks and so on? Thanks!

Citizenship Applying for eTa and renouncing my PR

I am applying for an eta, but I am currently a PR.
After applying for the eta, I created an IRCC account, and received the first request letter asking me to renounce my PR with supporting documents.
The page looked like this(after I upload my passport, photo, and 5782):

Document name Instructions Options Required By
Replacement ProvidedUploaded Filename:  passport.jpg Passport (required) Instructions - Document: Passport
Replacement ProvidedUploaded Filename:  imm5782.pdf (required)
Replacement ProvidedUploaded Filename:  headshot.jpg Digital photo (required) Instructions - Document: Digital photo

Then I received another letter, again asking me to renounce my PR? The page then had two new rows: (I didn't know what to upload for the two new columns, as I thought the system just hasn't receive my documents)

Details Document name Instructions Options Required By
Replacement ProvidedUploaded Filename:  passport.jpg Passport (required) Instructions - Document: Passport
Replacement ProvidedUploaded Filename:  imm5782.pdf (required)
Replacement ProvidedUploaded Filename:  headshot.jpg Digital photo (required) Instructions - Document: Digital photo
Replacement Overdue (required) 12 October 2026
Replacement Overdue Digital photo (required) Instructions - Document: Digital photo 12 October 2026

Then I received an email saying my eta application has been withdrawn, I am trying to apply again using the same process(eta first, then upload support documents)

If you had been through this process before, would you please tell me what I should do now.

What should I upload for the two new columns? My photo again?

Thank you so much for your time. I have read all official guide but they are mainly about physically sending the application... I really don't know what to do now. Thanks again.

Work Permit International students in Canada, how did you apply for full-time jobs during your final year?

• Upvotes

International students in Canada, how did you apply for full-time jobs during your final year?

I’m currently on a study permit and will be eligible for a PGWP after graduation. A lot of applications ask, “Are you legally entitled/authorized to work in Canada?” or whether you’ll need sponsorship.

What did you answer while you were still a student applying for jobs starting after graduation?

PNP PNP – Question About Cousin Listed in EOI

Hi everyone,

I have a question about a provincial nominee program (PNP) application.

When I submitted my EOI, I selected "cousin" under the question about having family members living in the province.

However, after reviewing the supporting document requirements, I realized that only first cousins are considered eligible. The person I referred to is actually a more distant relative, and I wasn't aware of this distinction when I submitted my EOI.

Now I'm unsure how to proceed because the application requires supporting documents to prove the family relationship.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation where they needed to correct information from their EOI?

Would contacting the PNP office to explain the situation and request a correction be the best approach? Could correcting this information affect an invitation or application?

I don't want to provide incorrect information or create any misunderstandings.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with something similar. Thanks!

Express Entry Combining Part time and Full time experience

Hi everyone, I have been working at my company since sept 2025, however initially the contract was part-time which was converted to full time in dec 2025. My hours in Sept and Oct are variable. I worked like 1 day a week, 2 days a week then three days a week and my minimum hours per week were 7.5 hours. However, I worked full time hours in November 2025 for the entire month. I am filling out my EE profile and I am a bit confused on how to include my part time hours. I only entered my experience from nov-dec and then dec-present as two separate experiences the system says I am already eligible for EE. Should I go and add my sept-nov hours as work experience or explain that in my LOE later on? Thanks

Express Entry IQAS ECA EVALUATION

Hi,

I just got an email from IQAS about a quality review and additional verification for my ECA Credentials issued in 2023.

Has anyone else dealt with this?

I’m on a work permit and my credentials are legit, so it's weird to get this after my ECA was already successful completed four years ago.

Any ideas?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Other travel document and pr card

hi !! i have like a difficult situation where my family immigrated to canada in 2006, became permanent residents around 2015, but never received our first pr card.

I’m in my first year of university and I have an abroad trip coming up for a course that I’m in. I first started my inquiry about receiving my PR card around the start of summer. After many appointments and calls with immigration services, I was able to submit my application at the start of September. The officer I spoke with over the phone also advised me to submit it with the urgency label in hopes to get it on time (end of October).

However, I was never told anything about getting an Ecopr.

I am now worried that my application won’t go through at all since I don’t have one. I don’t know what options I have either. I know the PRPTD is one but it seems too risky in the case it takes a while when I’m abroad.

does anyone know anything i could possibly do at this point?

Work Permit SOWP Settlement Offer Accepted – How Long Until IRCC Reopens the Application?

Hello everyone!

We received an unjust refusal of my wife’s SOWP application on June 18. We subsequently filed an application for Judicial Review with the Federal Court on August 4. Fortunately, we received a settlement offer stating that the refusal would be set aside and that the application would be reopened for redetermination by a different officer on August 28.

However, as of today, we still have not heard back from IRCC regarding the reopening of the application. We have tried submitting webforms, but have not received any responses. We also contacted IRCC by phone from within Canada, but were told that they do not have access to applications submitted from outside Canada. My wife resides in the UAE, and the application is being processed through the Abu Dhabi visa office.

We understand that there are no published processing timelines for reopening an application following a settlement offer. I’m posting to ask whether anyone here has had a similar experience with a settlement offer and, if so, how long it took for your application to be reopened and reassessed by a different officer.

Any experiences or timelines would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Express Entry Maintaining 730 days PR residency requirements

I hold a Canadian PR since December 2022. Until now I have stayed about 10 days in Canada. I know the residency requirement is 730 days in 5 years.

I wanted to check what my options would be if I want to move to Canada in early Jan 2027.
I heard that I can enter and stay in Canada, and renew my PR once I complete my 730 days.

Please help guide, if someone has gone through a similar situation or have more information.

Thanks!

Express Entry Combining multiple NOCs for CEC experience.

I have worked as a shift supervisor for 10 months (1420 hours) and current working as a sleep technologist (healthcare noc) since last 14 months (1700 hours).

For CEC, can I combine this 2 work experiences which are in different nocs and get points for 2 years (24 months, 3120 hours)?.

Would the system grant me points for 2 years? I haven created my profile yet.

Express Entry Work experience

Hey everyone, currently I am working in a hospital as administrative assistant - medical(noc 13112)- teer3 job in my home country, I am aware it's not under healthcare category as I am just targetting general CEC draw.I did my Canadian diploma in Hotel and resort management but then worked as a supervisor at a gas station for 2 years in Canada. Upon returning to my home country and applying a lot of jobs over 4 months I finally got this medical administrative assistant job in Feb this year. My question is does education background really is crucial for this job position, would there be any concerns over my CEC application?
