Bantam AI is an iOS app that lets you generate and share responses from top AI models directly in iMessage.

Check it out on the app store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bantam-ai/id6759182483

And if you like it please rate it 5 stars! It will help me gain some traction!

Discussion Spent 3 weeks building an app blocker because I refused to pay 100/year for one. AMA about the Screen Time API.

• Upvotes

Context: my screen time was 6h/day. The best-rated blocker wanted $99.99/year, with the only feature that works (strict mode) locked behind the paid tier.

I’m a solo dev in Brazil, so built my own. One-time purchase, no account, no server — it runs entirely on Apple’s Screen Time API, on your phone.

Things I learned that might help other devs:

  • Apple took 5 weeks to approve the Family Controls distribution entitlement. Submit it on day 1, and separately for each extension.
  • Don’t add the “App and Website Usage” capability unless you need usage data — it makes the permission prompt all-or-nothing and scares users off.
  • The one feature people actually pay for is “can’t cancel until the timer ends.” Everything else is decoration.

Happy to answer anything about the build or the entitlement process. If you want to try it, I’ll put the name in the comments rather than spam a link.

Help What iOS app would you build in 2027 if your goal was to solve a real problem?

Hey everyone!

I'm exploring ideas for an iOS app to build in 2027, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'm not looking to create another generic AI app or a copy of something that already exists. I want to build something that solves a real problem and offers genuine value to its users.

I'd love to know:

  • What problem do you face regularly that existing apps don't solve well?
  • Is there an app you wish existed but haven't found yet?
  • What type of app would you actually be willing to pay for?
  • Are there any everyday tasks you think could be made significantly easier with a well-designed iOS app?

I'm especially interested in ideas for the US, UK, Canada, and other Western markets.
