I made a free site that puts all the coverage of a news story on one page

when big news breaks i used to end up with like 8 tabs open, all saying the same thing in slightly different words. so i built Matrix News. it reads every source on a story and puts it all on one page, with the five Ws, key facts and a link to every source. you can follow a topic, or just type whatever you want and it builds a section for it. free, no account needed to read.

made this promo for it too, it's a 3d scene built in three.js out of the real site.

I'm building my own Discord alternative using vibe coding

Thumbnail

Hey everyone.

I started building Nexus because I wanted a communication platform that gives users more freedom without locking so many customization features behind a subscription like Discord Nitro. I wanted things like animated profile pictures and banners and better screen sharing to be more accessible. I also wanted to explore better privacy controls and make account recovery and moderation appeals less frustrating while giving users more control over spam and unwanted messages.

I am building this project using AI assisted development and vibe coding. It has been a challenging learning experience and I am excited to share the progress with you.

Here is what I have completed so far.

Voice calls and screen sharing are implemented. The server system and the main settings interface are in place. User profiles are implemented and most of the backend has been built. I have also implemented a full reporting system where every submitted report is reviewed.

I have also built a custom animated emoji system that lets users add their own emojis and use them in conversations. I want people to have more freedom to express themselves and personalize their experience.

I have also implemented a fully working user search system that allows people to find other users by their username or unique user ID. Every user has a unique username that cannot be claimed or used by anyone else. This makes it easier to find the right person and helps prevent username impersonation.

Here is what I am currently working on.

Voice rooms inside servers are getting close to completion. Encryption is also nearing completion and I am working toward making communication more secure and private.

There are still many things I want to improve and add.

I want to introduce more customization settings and better controls for unwanted messages and spam. One feature I want to add is an optional setting that allows only your friends to send you direct messages. You will be able to turn this option on or off depending on your preferences.

I also want to keep improving account security and recovery and make moderation more transparent. Performance and user experience are important priorities as the project grows.

My long term goal is to make Nexus open source so people can inspect the code and contribute to its development. I want the project to grow with feedback from the community rather than building everything in isolation.

Nexus is still a work in progress and I know there is a lot left to do. I am not claiming it is ready to replace Discord yet. I want to keep building and testing it until it becomes something people genuinely enjoy using.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

What frustrates you the most about Discord. What features would make you consider trying a new communication platform. And what would you like to see in an open source alternative?

If you have any ideas or suggestions for the project or think there is something I should improve or add please let me know. I would really appreciate any feedback or advice as I continue building it.

(Nexus is currently just a temporary name for the project)

[Android] - Offline music and Radio Player with ready to play radios - 100% free - No premium version

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Mediaxon Music Player is an audio player for offline listening of music stored on your device (.mp3, .flac, .m4a, .ogg, .mka, .aac, .wav, .opus, .wma) and streaming FM radios (online radios).

Top radios on the first screen: When users access the radio screen, they immediately see the list of the top radios in their country, along with a long list of high-quality suggested radios from among the most listened to in the world. Note: Local radio stations ("Top in the user country") are pulled automatically from an online database. However, with each update, I manually curate high-quality radio stations lists for individual countries. At the bottom of this post, you’ll find the list of countries completed so far. I will be adding the rest over time.

Separated Favorites and Recents: Each section—Radio and Offline Music—has its own Favorites and Recents. The user doesn't have to worry about a thing. The app will automatically manage the Favorites and Recents for each section.

Advanced Radio Search Panel: You can pinpoint your favorite stations by combining multiple filters, such as tags/genres, specific countries, or even your preferred audio bitrate. The online database provides more than 60,000 radio stations.

Album art: If the album art is missing from the album folder, or if Android has not properly indexed it, Mediaxon attempts to download the cover from the internet. This feature depends, of course, on the ID3 tags (album name and artist).

Equalizer: The equalizer provides an option to automatically switch to the "Radio" preset (and vice versa).

Advanced Playlist Management: Built specifically to make building and sorting playlists fast and intuitive. Enable the Playlist Manager, in the settings screen, for a full control of the playlists.

Form Factor Optimization: Phone and Tablet (Portrait and Landscape)

There is no Premium version. All app features are available for free and without limits.

Regarding advertising: There is only a small banner at the top that isn't bothersome at all. Alternatively, when opening the full-screen player or using the app in landscape mode, a banner alternates with the albums covers, but without being intrusive at all (no audio) and with much shorter stay times than those of the cover. There is never full-screen advertising, neither at startup nor during use.

Countries with new manually curated lists: United States, India, Italy, Argentina.

If you want to check it out (I am continuously pushing updates to refine it and add new features and radios), you can find it on the Google Play Store. Thank you so much to everyone who takes a look!

Note: Only for Android 13+ (so, Android 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17).

I made a free teleprompter for Mac that sits around the notch and scrolls when you talk

• Upvotes

Hey r/IMadeThis ,

I've started doing some content for my startup recently, and needed a quick teleprompter utilty that I could use for some content!

It's a small teleprompter panel that drops down from the notch on a MacBook, so the text sits right under the webcam. You barely move your eyes.

There's some pretty nifty features too! Using your Mac's inbuilt dictation, its able to follow your speech and scroll according to how fast you personally talk!

Some other stuff it does:

  • Opens scripts as txt, Markdown, Word or PDF. You can drag a file onto it, or just paste with ⌘V.
  • Shrinks to a little pill around the notch when you don't need it.
  • Has a notchcue command, so scripts (or AI agents, in my case) can pop it open with a script ready to go.

It's fully open source, so have at it, and let me know what you think!

I built a platform where you can get feedback and real testers for your projects

• Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’m working on https://makerswall.io which is a community-driven platform where makers trade feedback on each other’s projects. It is built around reciprocity:  in order to get feedback, you have to test someone else’s project first.

Why I built this

I kept struggling to get insightful feedback on my own projects. Unless you have a network of skilled people with time to spare, you’re likely find hard to find real testers. I didn’t want to spend money getting feedback for projects that aren’t profitable yet and might never be.

How it works

  • Submit your project (app, SaaS, website…)
  • Claim someone else’s project, test it, and write a report for its maker
  • Each report earns you credits. You can spend them to read the reports on your own project or to boost it so it gets tested sooner.

It’s 100% free, credits are only earned and cannot be bought.

We opened publicly this weekend and 18 projects from 17 makers are already in. Seeing the first real feedback go back and forth has been great.

Two things I'd love your honest take on:

  • Is the landing page pitch clear within a few seconds?
  • Do the credit rules make sense, or do they feel like friction?

If you submit a project, I'd like to hear how it went. Criticism welcome.
Thanks, and I hope it helps you too!

I lost track of my grad school applications, so I built a free tracker (no sign-up, data stays in your browser)

I just finished my Master’s in biotechnology and applied to several programmes. Deadlines, documents, recommenders and notes ended up scattered across a spreadsheet, my inbox and a notes app, and I nearly missed one.

So I built Docket Lite. I’m still learning to code, so it’s a single web page.

  • Tracks deadlines, status, recommendation letters and a note for each application
  • Exports deadlines to your calendar, and imports and exports CSV
  • Free, no sign-up, no ads, and everything stays in your browser (I never see your data)

Link: docket.org.uk

I also wrote a few plain guides while building it, such as a checklist and a PhD timeline, plus a free spreadsheet template for anyone who prefers that.

What I’d really like is feedback. What’s confusing the first time you open it, and what’s missing?

I made a local dashboard for exploring Codex and Claude Code session history

I vibe-coded SessionSift, switching between Codex and Claude Code, then personally tested and used it to compare long AI coding sessions with shorter separate ones, understand token usage, and make my own prompts better.

Instead of digging through raw transcripts, you can browse conversations, inspect tool calls and token activity, and compare sessions in one local interface. It supports Codex and Claude Code, optional ChatGPT/Claude export imports, and 10 read-only local MCP tools.

It doesn't need an account or hosted service. Connected MCP clients may still send tool output to their model providers.

It's free for noncommercial use and source-available under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0, not OSI open source. Current native builds are macOS Intel and Linux AMD64; Docker/source instructions are in the README. macOS binaries are unsigned and unnotarized.

Synthetic demo screenshot: https://github.com/LanceSandino/sessionsift/blob/main/docs/screenshots/01-workspace-conversation.webp

Project: https://github.com/LanceSandino/sessionsift

Curious whether the conversation browser, session comparison, or MCP integration is the feature you'd actually use.

I built a Raspberry Pi simulator that works on your browser that you can use to prototype projects before you spend money and time on real hardware!

Hey r/IMadeThis !

I've been working on a side project called PyRasp for myself. However, it has grown to a point where I thought it might be useful to people who are either interested in Python or Raspberry Pis.
Hence, I've been trying to make it a useful space for people who want to explore Python beyond traditional software development and get hands on experience with hardware related projects and keep it fun with a little bit of social elements.

PyRasp is a Raspberry Pi simulator that runs directly in the browser. You can write Python code, experiment with GPIO, and build circuits without needing a physical Raspberry Pi or setting up a local environment.

It's still a work in progress, and I'm opening up the platform for free during beta (which is here to stay for quite a while). I'd love to have more people try it out and let me know what they think. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

If you're curious and would like to take a look, here's a link:
https://pyrasp.com/?ref=reddit

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I would be more than happy to answer!

I built a job board for Reddit's hiring subs that throws out the ~75% of posts that aren't actually jobs

On subs like r/forhire, r/slavelabour and r/DesignJobs, about 3 in 4 posts are people advertising their own services or spam. The real jobs are in there, but you scroll past a lot to find them, and a fair number of what's left are scams.

So I made Only Hiring: https://onlyhiring.hassandev.me

How it works:

A scheduled job pulls new posts from about 19 hiring subreddits. Anything tagged [For Hire] or [Offer] gets dropped before any LLM call, which costs nothing and catches a lot of the noise. An LLM reads the rest and decides whether someone is actually hiring. For the ones that are, it writes a short summary and pulls out the pay, role, work mode, location and skills. It also gives each post a scam score from 0 to 1, based on signs like upfront fees, Telegram-only contact, requests to rent your account and payment in crypto. Posts at 0.4 or higher get a warning, and at 0.6 or higher they're hidden unless you choose to see them. Reposts are collapsed into one listing.

The site is Next.js on Vercel, reading from a Neon Postgres table through a role that can only SELECT. The dataset is small enough that filtering and search run in the browser, and the filters are kept in the URL so you can share a filtered view.

I made a couple of choices on purpose. I don't store post bodies; you get my summary and a link back to Reddit, which is where you apply. And there are no accounts or analytics at all. If you mark a job as applied, that's saved in your browser's localStorage and nowhere else.

What isn't great yet: Many job posts don't share budgets or salaries, so it's hard to filter job posts with price. This is a problem with the people posting vague jobs, but I wonder if I could fix this better on my end too. Also, deleted Reddit posts can also stay listed for a while before they drop off.

The website code is open source: https://github.com/hassanaziz0012/only-hiring. The scraper and grader live in a separate private repo.

I'd like feedback on two things: whether each listing tells you enough to decide if a job is worth opening, and whether the scam warnings feel useful or just noisy.

I built TimeLine Zones for Mac — compare cities on one visual timeline

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I’m the developer of TimeLine Zones, a small Mac app I built to make comparing time zones more visual.

Instead of checking several clocks and mentally working out the differences, you can see cities side by side with aligned day/night timelines. Move the time slider or pick another date to see what the same moment looks like everywhere.

A few things it can do:

  • Add cities and choose your reference city.
  • Compare local times and dates, including daylight-saving changes.
  • Create events or import them from Apple Calendar.
  • Customize colors, daytime hours, and 24-hour or AM/PM display.
  • Keep the app accessible from the menu bar.

It’s a one-time $1.99 USD purchase, with no subscriptions, ads, or account required. Supports Intel and Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/timeline-zones/id6818426446
Website: https://repairline.app/timeline-zones/

I’d love some honest feedback, especially from people who regularly coordinate across time zones. Does this visual approach help with your workflow? What would make it more useful?

Hi everyone day 5 of a weird little experiment.

Every 24 hours this site gets rebuilt by a coding AI agent (opencode), and the

thing it builds comes from the most upvoted comment in this thread. No

moderation: if the top comment is a joke, the site becomes the joke. If a build

breaks, it just breaks. A winning comment can never win twice.

Day 4 winner: ron_de_vous asked for "The website becomes a window into the LLM itself, with stream of consciousness type notes displayed on the site of every thought that the LLM has for the next 24 hours, until the next idea wins. If the next idea can contain this idea as an always on thought bubble for every forthcoming idea, that will be neat and we can all see what the LLM actually thinks of this experiment as it expands."

Result: "Ruminant": a stream of consciousness, released one minute at a time, open

exactly 24 hours (11m55s, 2,608,633 tokens to build).

Note: reddit flagged the original post on r/SideProject from I'm posting on here instead https://dailymorph.app/

I made Playova, a Windows player for your own IPTV playlists

I’m the developer of Playova, a desktop IPTV player for people who already have their own M3U playlist or Xtream Codes account. It doesn’t include channels or an IPTV subscription.

The part I’d like feedback on is library navigation: Playova keeps an imported catalogue locally so you can browse and search channels, films and series without reloading the whole catalogue for each search. It also has favourites, VOD resume, a programme guide when your source supplies one, and picture-in-picture. Playback still needs a working source and internet connection.

The Windows 10/11 x64 app is on Microsoft Store. A 14-day trial starts when you add your first source; continued playback then requires a paid Basic or Plus licence. Current local prices are shown in the app.

Details and download: https://playova.app/

If you use a desktop IPTV player, what is the most useful way to organise a large playlist: source categories, your own groups, or search?

I made a lightweight, 100% private Chrome extension to inspect website tech stacks

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've always liked seeing what frameworks and libraries websites are running under the hood, but existing extensions have gotten super bloated and full of trackers.

So I spent the last few weeks building TechReveal, a clean and lightweight alternative:

  • 100% Private: Runs entirely in your local browser sandbox, zero telemetry, no accounts.
  • Visual Architecture Map: Connects frontend, backend, and tools into an interactive diagram.
  • Clean Versions & Badges: Shows library versions and category tags when clicking any tech.
  • Security Alerts: Checks headers for missing security policies or accidental data leaks.
  • Zero Lag: Optimized with Manifest V3 so it won't slow down active tabs.

It's completely free to use on the Chrome Web Store (works on Chrome, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi):
👉 TechReveal on Chrome Web Store

I’d love to hear your thoughts or feedback!

I built an app that turns photos of your physical cases into 3D cases you can open

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm excited to share that Disc Collection got approved for the App Store!

It's a physical media tracker for YOUR discs. Take 2 photos of a case and it turns into an interactive 3D view you can open up, spin around, and pull the disc out of.

I made this app to celebrate owning your disc. You own it, you should be able to show it off to other collectors anywhere in the world. At the core it's still a collecting tracker — ratings, hours played, finished tracking, wishlist, search, hearting, cases numbered as you add them. The 3D case is just the fun part.

It's free, and I want to keep it that way. I do this as a hobby and it's really fun for me — making it paid or introducing a money factor would ruin the fun factor. I want it to stay community driven, so if you have suggestions, drop them in the contact area in the settings page.

And you can share in the public gallery where other anonymous collectors can see what you have collected — no usernames, no followers.

No accounts, no ads, no tracking.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/disc-collection/id6817679006

lmk what you think!
