Local News 📰 Residents on Hudson asked to remove Halloween decorations for filming

This is mental if true. I would’ve said Hell no. It’s bad enough they take up insane amounts of parking for such little contributions to the city, to ask private citizens to kowtow to your production is incredibly insulting. No one forced you to shoot your movie in Halloween season in a very festive area.

**RANT** 🤬 Elysian - wtf happened

Been going to Elysian for years the previous owner was just fantastic and ran a smooth place . Since they switched idk what’s happening. This last Saturday it’s the last Saturday I’ll ever be back . We sat down , waitress took about 10 min ( all good they were busy ) I ordered a bottle of wine ( which I typically do cause service takes forever ) . My friend ordered a cocktail and 2 apple juices for the kids and our food order . The kids never got their juices , the cocktail did show up at some point and the food came with the wrong cheeses (( she added my friends cheese of choice to my sandwich and mine to hers ) all good I can live with that . I ordered an onion soup ( my favorite ) and no spoon came with the soup . My server has been nowhere to be found for the last 15-20 min or so but I’m sat and actively looking for her when what I believe is the manager notices and asks if I need anything to which I say yes a spoon and the kids drinks please . Shortly after our server appears and I tell her I’m sorry but my soup is cold to which she replies I don’t work in the kitchen ! lmao I literally chuckled and repeated my soup is cold and lifted , which she then says sorry I’ll take care of it . I received a microwaved soup after that , again all good there’s no point on saying anything else since at this point . We ordered the kids desserts and another drink and the check . Was never asked if we need anything with the food , checked on it or anything . Service is at a terrible decline at the place and the food I typically
Love so much there came cold and sad . I’m sorry to see it since it’s such a cute place , but we have learned our lesson and won’t be back . Bar service is always great and never have any problems but oh boy if you’re sitting at a table , good luck !

Question❓ Uptown 14th ferry service

The uptown ferry in 20 mins late every morning this week. In addition, the ferry buses once you get into the city have been a mess. They keep you waiting on them for another 15 mins until they depart.

What can be done about this? Hoboken residents rely on reliable transportation for our work commutes.

Question❓ Dog Owners: what is having a medium/big dog like in Hoboken?

Moved here a few years back and I’ve been thinking about getting my first dog since childhood. Maybe a medium/large dog like a golden retriever or Labrador.

My question is: how do you guys take care of your dog while you’re at work given we don’t have yards we can let them out on while at work? Dog walkers? Dog daycare? Or just good potty training?

I work modestly long hours, usually 9-8 three days a week in person so I’m mostly trying to get a sense of how to make sure the dog isn’t suffering while I’m away at work.

Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated!

**RANT** 🤬 Sydney Sweeney traffic

Road closures for this have uptown into a July 4th 2025 grid lock. The bus and hummer having an accident at the same intersection as filming (11th and Garden) didn’t help. This amount of road closures and no parking spots are out of control.

Local Event 🎪 Open mic this Sunday — seeking talent

• Upvotes

Hi -

I’m organizing our local party on midtown Garden Street. I’m a good enough planner to have our permit and speakers, but not so good to have booked music in time.

So if you have some musical talent to show off, even if only for a song or two, or maybe even two hours worth, drop me a DM.

Bonus points for family friend or even Halloween-esque music. Block party is on Sunday in midtown Hoboken. I’ll jam on acoustic guitar w ya.

Question❓ People who take the aisle seat on the bus with no one next to them -

Are you oblivious or just a pain in the ass?

EDIT: I’m not talking about folks who NEED the aisle. I’m talking about bros with AirPods in who pretend not to hear me when I say excuse me. I have no problem asking for a seat if someone if blocking it or have a bag on it!

Question❓ TF is it with aggressive dog breeds in Hoboken

I take my pup out later at night cause he likes his morning sleep and that works for me too.

At night I see people walking these big / aggressive breeds that look at my pup like food. WTF… TF is a malinois, dobberman, pit bully, and other nasty breeds doing in a city? Seeing these big ass dogs come out of rental buildings - are there no size limits at these buildings or people are illegally keeping them there?

should I carry bear spray or smth just in case?

p.s. it f-s even more with my brain when 5ft tall women walk them (well more like being dragged) …
