Local News 📰 Residents on Hudson asked to remove Halloween decorations for filming

This is mental if true. I would’ve said Hell no. It’s bad enough they take up insane amounts of parking for such little contributions to the city, to ask private citizens to kowtow to your production is incredibly insulting. No one forced you to shoot your movie in Halloween season in a very festive area.

Question❓ Uptown 14th ferry service

The uptown ferry in 20 mins late every morning this week. In addition, the ferry buses once you get into the city have been a mess. They keep you waiting on them for another 15 mins until they depart.

What can be done about this? Hoboken residents rely on reliable transportation for our work commutes.

Question❓ Dog Owners: what is having a medium/big dog like in Hoboken?

Moved here a few years back and I’ve been thinking about getting my first dog since childhood. Maybe a medium/large dog like a golden retriever or Labrador.

My question is: how do you guys take care of your dog while you’re at work given we don’t have yards we can let them out on while at work? Dog walkers? Dog daycare? Or just good potty training?

I work modestly long hours, usually 9-8 three days a week in person so I’m mostly trying to get a sense of how to make sure the dog isn’t suffering while I’m away at work.

Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated!

**RANT** 🤬 Toddlers running toward the intersection

OK, listen up you overeducated and under commonsense’d young parents of Hoboken. Your toddler is not a voice activated A.I. robot. They have a will of their own. And they have the discipline of a 3 month old puppy. To wit, they don’t listen to shit if they don’t want to.

Letting your toddler run or scooter at full speed toward the intersections in this town is fucking stupidity. You want a dead baby? That’s how you wind up with a dead baby.

Witnessed it this morning. A willful toddler, kicking and screaming after Dad finally tried to hold his hand. This only after the kid bolted toward a busy four way intersection. Dad was far, far behind and just calling after his little athlete. Cars were in action right in front of that toddler by the time Dad caught up with sport-o.

This is not your college campus. This is not a suburban cul de sac. This is not your parents fenced in mansion wherever you came from.

Control your little kids. Or make plans for a funeral. Whatever. It’s your choice.

Hi! I know there’s construction by the path and I’m planning to go to Blue Anchor tonight and wondering if it’s actually walkable like Google Maps says it is. I’ve never walked this highlighted path before

Edit: thanks everyone! I had a truly wonderful walk and appreciate your insight

**RANT** 🤬 Drivers clearly need a refresher

You are supposed to STOP at stop signs.
You should look both ways before crossing an intersection.
Blind people have the right of way. 39:4-37.1 Right-of-way crossing intersection for blind person, guide dog instructor.

How do I know he didn’t look both ways? After my cane contacted his car we had a chat and he admitted to only looking south. I was walking south. If he had looked both ways he would have seen me.

If you can’t be bothered to look both ways in Hoboken don’t drive in Hoboken. Pedestrians do not have to follow the one way street rules.

I could have called the cops… laws broken failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield for the blind.

**RANT** 🤬 ‘Free stuff’ getting citations

My building, and everyone in Hoboken, puts free stuff on the curb for people to take. My building recently got a $250 fine about 20 minutes after it was all put on the curb, by multiple people in my building, all with a ‘free’ note on it. I’ve been in Hoboken for 20 years and never had this type of citation or seen this enforced.

  1. Is it worth fighting the fine in court?
  2. Is this a new ordinance? And if so, why weren’t we notified?
  3. Are the days of leaving ‘free stuff’ on the curb over? Seems counter productive to the green initiatives the city claims to take (ie town wide gate sale this weekend to ‘reduce waste’.

Other Free women’s clothing sizes 14-18 in good condition

Where can I donate clothing locally? It’s a very large amount of clean women’s casual clothes, all in good to excellent condition, some new. No stains, no rips. They just don’t fit me anymore but are still nice. Includes items for summer and winter seasons, workout clothes and heavy winter coats. Women’s sizes 14-18, no designer clothes. The brands include mostly Uniqlo, Gap, J. Jill, Jude Connally. If someone wants to pick them all up locally in Weehawken, perfect. Not for resale.

Question❓ TF is it with aggressive dog breeds in Hoboken

I take my pup out later at night cause he likes his morning sleep and that works for me too.

At night I see people walking these big / aggressive breeds that look at my pup like food. WTF… TF is a malinois, dobberman, pit bully, and other nasty breeds doing in a city? Seeing these big ass dogs come out of rental buildings - are there no size limits at these buildings or people are illegally keeping them there?

should I carry bear spray or smth just in case?

p.s. it f-s even more with my brain when 5ft tall women walk them (well more like being dragged) …
